We got a couple of quesadillas and tacos and everyone enjoyed their food. We agreed that the soft tacos were our favorites more so than the hard shells. The hard shells were clearly fried in house, made using their tortillas, so they were very crisp. The soft taco tortillas also seemed to be made in house and had great texture and flavor! All the ingredients seemed fresh and were well-prepared.

The parking lot was packed, but luckily we were able to get seated right away (and we timed it perfectly, because a massive tour bus arrived just as we were leaving!). We ordered a variety of dishes for the table. My son got the chocolate pancakes with bacon, and he absolutely LOVED them. To me, the pancakes tasted a bit oily, and only one of the three bacon strips arrived truly crispy. My friend enjoyed his meal of steak tips with eggs over easy, cheesy hashbrowns, and roasted apples--he mentioned the apples tasted just like apple pie filling. My own meal was where things fell flat. I ordered the grilled catfish with grits, over-easy eggs, and cheesy hashbrowns. The eggs were cooked perfectly, but the catfish was quite bland. The grits completely lacked flavor, so I tried mixing them with the cheesy, salty hashbrowns to help, but I ultimately ended up abandoning both. I had a biscuit instead, which was okay, but I left the meal feeling full rather than satisfied. On the bright side, the retail shop was so much fun to walk around, and we loved looking through all of their holiday decor. I really want to emphasize that the staff here is phenomenal and the hospitality is top-notch, but unfortunately, the food just didn't live up to the hype for me.

My grilled chicken taco with brown rice and black beans met the store's criteria, the chicken itself was considered a topping. Wasn't sure how many people we'd be, but the place looked big enough. It wasn't. Not for the crowds of people stuffing Cryan's on Saturday night, drinking at the bar, eating at the tables. Clinton doesn't have as many people as Cryan's did that night. Incredible. So we put our party down to a 40-minute wait. Time went on, a few people left, a few drinks happened, and finally the rest of us got a table together. Minus for service - the waitstaff was not very friendly to our group; granted, we were forced to stand due to lack of seating, but they didn't give us any helpful tips or any sympathy. Drinks were just "are you ready?" and then handed out. Food experience went a little bit better. The food itself was fine, mostly because none of us ordered pizza. It's bar pies here - super-thin crust, comes out crispy, which may be your thing but it's not mine. The onion rings look fantastic - huge, but with a lot of breading, and I didn't have enough of an appetite to down that by myself. I ended up on the Baslick Burger, ordered rare, and it actually came out pleasantly close to rare. Other people's came out to their order as well (medium and well, one with a subbed side). Nothing spectacular, but nothing bad. Same for the fries. All in all? It was an experience. But not one to walk into blind. Maybe if I was local I'd go on a low-volume night, otherwise I'll stick to some less crowded vibes.
