I've been seeing Bubbakoo's commercials on TV for the taco Tuesday deal for a few weeks, 2 tacos + chips for $5.99. So today, Tuesday, I had to pick up a few items at Walmart and then I headed for Bubbakoo's at the other end of the strip mall parking lot. I ordered the Taco Tuesday special and after the employee started preparing my food, he stated the special includes only three toppings. My grilled chicken taco with brown rice and black beans met the store's criteria, the chicken itself was considered a topping. To add lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, corn, jalapeños, cilantro, and sour cream were additional charges. This was the most bland taco I have ever purchased. Luckily I had most of the toppings at home, minus the jalapeños and cilantro. read more

Wow! What a revelation! We thoroughly enjoyed our quesadilla and chiwawa, which is a big rice and cheese ball that is fried, cut in half and then stuffed with whatever you want. Basically just a different delivery mechanism for burrito innards. The rice ball was delicious and all the fillings were full of flavor. The sriracha crema was a good addition to both items. The quesadilla had a very nice crust on it without being oily, which is usually the case for good, crispy quesadillas. We got ground beef in the chiwawa and grilled chicken in the quesadilla. we thought everything was delicious. It is basically the same concept as ever other build-your-own burrito place but just executed particularly well. read more

Went here midweek with my daughter. After some discussion, we decided that we didn't want to go to either of the competitors as the drive was too far. Having visited the Somerville location a few years ago, I was not enthused to go here. We visited the store around 6:30 PM and found it to be clean and quiet with people only sitting at one table. These days, I think that's a bad omen. That didn't dissuade us from ordering a couple of burritos, chips and drinks for roughly $26 total. The price seems to be competitive and the going rate, although these days feels astronomical. Regardless of that perception, we had a completely different experience than what I remember at the other store. Our burritos were hot, I had grilled chicken and my daughter had the ground beef. The toppings were plentiful, flavorful. and fresh. The only criticism that I have was probably due to my ordering method, but they heaped the toppings on so heavily that the burrito was hard to roll and they didn't drain the juices first so the tortilla started falling apart and dripped steadily the whole time I ate it. I think the alternatives are plenty, get a bowl next time, double wrap it, skip the pico, etc. We enjoyed our respective meals and the skateboard themed decorations as well as the 90's alternative music in the background. We'll be back. My daughter suggested that she would add queso to future burrito orders and I suggest avoiding or at least dialing back the onions as they are quite strong. read more

Pretty rough. I got wings, tots and a burrito. The wings could have been decent if they hadn't just poured a ridiculous amount of sauce over them. So I had dry wings sitting in a puddle of sauce. Can't understand why they wouldn't be tossed first, then placed in the container. Pouring that much sauce in a to-go container is inexcusable. The tots were overly oily and devoid of any seasoning (salt?). The burrito could best be described as bizarre. Woody chicken, mushy wrap, cheese mush. Nothing fresh or crisp going on with this burrito. For a place that seems to be pushing a west coast fresh food motif, they are putting out some sad food. I knew this was a fast casual place and my expectations were low, but they surpassed even my low expectations. read more

I just went here for the first time today (March 11, 2023). Firstly, the servers were friendly and cheerful... so I recommend to the owner, do everything you can to keep them happy :) The food was tasty and fresh. The amount of toppings was very generous and even difficult to fit into a double wrapped burrito, so I had them dump everything into a bowl. There was so much I could only eat half, and I'm not a small guy. I will certainly be returning back. If I could add two things, it would be fresh brewed unsweetened iced black tea with lemon... and a very spicy hot sauce selection (I put habanero sauce on when I got home). read more

For the most part, I've had great food here. But, recently, I talked my wife into it and we ordered two ground beef taco salads. They were horrible. The meat was cold like it came out of the refrigerator and wasn't reheated. Not appetizing at all and we both threw them away because there is no easy way to reheat them. Disappointing. read more

We have ordered take out a number of times from Bubbakoos and it never disappoints. You name it, we've probably ordered it! The burritos, bowls and quesadillas are our favorites. The fried Oreos are also sooo (unexpectedly) good! Crispy on the outside and warm and sweet on the inside. It's always fresh and our orders haven't been wrong yet. This was our second try. Had a bogo coupon which they apparently knew nothing about and told us they were not participating in. We walked out and orders through the app and it worked fine. Tried to alert the staff to this when we picked up our food and they couldn't care at all. I tried to alert them so that they wouldn't make the same mistake again because one other person was there during dinner but they basically acted like they didn't even care. Don't bother ordering online and expecting your food to be ready when you get there. This is the third time I've tried and I gave them an extra 20 minutes beyond the time they said it would be ready before I even left my house. I get there and they haven't even started my order an hour after it was placed. May as well drive the 30 minutes to Chipotle at least I know my food will be ready when I get there. read more

Tried this place for the first time on Saturday night and could only eat 1/3 of my burrito because it tasted a little bit "off" and wasn't sitting right in my stomach. I had ordered a pretty basic chicken burrito. A couple of hours later I was SO sick to my stomach and ended up with food poisoning and feeling completely miserable until 2 days later. The first time we visited this establishment was A week ago. Obviously there were some kinks being worked out as a new restaurant, completely understandable ie slow service, a bit disorganized and the staff demeanor was meh. Anyway down to the food. I ordered the General Tso chicken taco. I noticed they took the chicken out it in a separate bowl, sauced it & then added it to the taco to ensure optimal distribution of the sauce & flavor on the protein. I added my other ingredients and it was good, not great but good. The second time I returned with my son & husband. I ordered the same thing General Tso's chicken tacos as did my son. The guy, I believe is the owner, put the chicken in the tacos then sauced them. What the heck?! Already cutting corners? Drenching the chicken in a soft taco shell? Ugh. My son's was super Spicy mine was for some reason more sweet. Idk Bubba Koos, I've been to others & you guys are too early in the game to cut corners & provide a lack luster demeanor for paying customers. My husband ordered a Siracha bacon quesadilla with no siracha. No bueno guys. You are flanked by Jersey mikes & Hunan Wok. Step up your game the potential is there. read more
