First time. Stopped today while running errands…read more Summary: delicious. I notice that a lot of Yelpers like hole-in-the-wall places. The little find on the corner, so to speak. Simple surroundings, but excellent food. This is one of those places, in my opinion. Ordered the Greek salad w/ beef kabob. They even asked how I wanted the meat prepared. I went for rare, and it was rare. Very fresh greens, soft and warm pita bread. Dressing on the side, which I like, because Greek dressing can sometimes be a little acidic. This was not. Smooth, with light acidity. Very tasty. The meat (see picture) was loaded on and delicious. Charred nicely on the outside, rare inside. Presented very well. Baklava for desert. What can I say - I've never really had bad Baklava. Very buttery, honey, pistachios. I'm giving five stars, because I didn't expect this to be so tasty. Expected good. Nothing fancy as far as dining, but very clean. But I don't order the tables and chairs - I order the meal, and that's what I eat. You order at the counter and they serve. The young lady was very friendly - perhaps limited English, but no one was rude. She served my food, and I forgot to grab utensils. She went back to get them w/ no attitude. I saw the cook (maybe the owner/mgr?) serve a couple and very friendly. I saw some bad reviews regarding service, so just wanted to explain that didn't happen to me. Anyway, I will go back here. Hopefully, will be as good as the salad.

I stopped here on my way out to golf in Gold Canyon for a quick sandwich. It was around 65 degrees outside but inside the store was even colder...I was shivering the whole time there...they must not have any heater. After reviewing the menu quickly (about 15 seconds), when I approached the cashier he asked 'Are you ready now?'. I found this pretty insulting as I was looking at the menu briefly with nobody behind me inline. What happened to 'How may I serve you today?' or at least a semi-friendly greeting? I ordered a Torpedo sub and got a water cup as they had a Pepsi machine (I much prefer Coke products) and no fresh-brewed Iced Tea (only Brisk out of the Pepsi machine). The sub came out quickly. I forgot to take a picture but it looked like a bread-only sandwich with a few lettuce strips hanging out. You could not see the meat or cheese without lifting off the bun. I'd say they are quite frugal with the meat, cheese and vegetables. However, the sandwich bread was excellent and the sub had good taste. Overall, the experiences was average to slightly sub-par. There's a lot of sandwich options around and I don't see myself coming back to this location any time soon.

Chicago's Number One Gyros 850 S Ironwood Dr,…read more Apache Junction, AZ 85120 I recently had the pleasure of visiting Chicago's Number One Gyros located at 850 S Ironwood Dr, Apache Junction, AZ. While in the area to show a vacant space for a potential massage business, I felt a bit hungry and was delighted to discover this charming Chicago Hot Dog restaurant nearby. I ordered a delicious gyro with fries and kindly requested the lady at the counter to prepare my fries without salt. She was incredibly friendly and happily obliged, frying a fresh batch just for me. I truly appreciated her willingness to accommodate my request. During my visit, there was an unexpected moment when another customer choked on their food. Thankfully, another patron quickly called for help, and the fire department arrived in just five minutes. I am so grateful for the swift response of the firefighters, who handled the situation with professionalism and care. Overall, my experience at Chicago's Number One Gyros was filled with warmth and kindness, and I left feeling thankful for the delicious food and the attentive service.

Last night's visit solidified for me that it just isn't good here anymore. We used to love this spot, but our dinner last night felt like a series of unfortunate culinary choices: The Dolmades: They arrived sporting a weird, opaque film complete with unexplained chunks. It looked less like a traditional glaze or olive oil and more like a science experiment gone wrong. The Falafel: I'm not sure if these were meant for human consumption or if they were mistakenly harvested from a Lego set. They were minuscule, aggressively overcooked, and packed a random, spicy punch that felt more like a defensive mechanism than a flavor profile. The Gyro: The classic toppings were a bit of a ghost town. It featured zero tomatoes and a generous helping of onions that had definitely crossed over into "spoiled" territory. The only pleasant part of our meal were the spanakopita, which are obviously purchased, not made on site. It's genuinely disappointing to see a reliable favorite slide so far downhill. Here's hoping they can channel a bit of Joe's original standards and turn things around, but for now, we'll be getting our Mediterranean fix elsewhere.
