This deli has…read morebeen in the community for a while per its signage and it's still quite popular based on the volume of customers we ate with. The interior is quite spacious, which was unexpected given the humble shopping center storefront. There were lots of places to sit and everything was tidy. They have a fairly expansive deli menu with sandwiches, soups, and what I think of as southern salads (e.g. chicken salad, pasta salad, etc - not necessarily a meal or dish with a bunch of greens, lol). They also have the option of getting half sandwiches with a soup or salad. You order at the counter here and are given a number, which an employee will call out when your food is ready. The folks working were pleasant and attentive and our food was made quickly. My dad ordered a Reuben sandwich with chips and my mom and I both got the Frito chili pie. We both got sour cream with ours; I also got pickled jalapeños on mine at no extra charge. Everything was tasty. The Frito pie was a sizeable portion and very hearty. The chili wasn't spicy at all but had satisfying umami flavor. The Fritos stayed nicely crunchy and the jalapeños were a great touch. My dad liked his Reuben too, though it didn't quite stack up to the heights of his GOAT Reuben, haha. The side of chips was impressive and very generous. Overall, a simple but satisfying visit that we enjoyed. Give them a try if you're passing through.

I love pimento cheese in all its forms and have never had it like they make it. Beware if you have a nut allergy guys, because it's loaded up with pecans (if I'm not mistaken on the nut). A true Simple Southern Menu with comfort food you'd expect from Mom. I go multiple times on my visits to Albertville. It is a MUST for lunch or to call in and pick up some 'to go' pimento cheese!

Something about them had a hint of sweetness to it, which we didn't care for. We ended up squeezing a lemon and adding some malt vinegar to them to get that sour/dill taste that we'd hoped for. Next up, we ordered the Dubliner and Fried Fish Tacos. We enjoyed both of them. The fish tacos were giant, very filling and crunchy. It was a little heavy on the breading (for me), but I enjoyed them. You can get the fish grilled or fried and I opted for fried. The Dubliner was pretty tasty and didn't skimp on heartiness. The sliced steak, mushrooms, cheese and gravy meshed very well on a open slice of brioche bread. Our server and service was pleasant. She suggested the zucchini instead of the broccoli with the Dubliner, and they were pretty good.

Both of us had a pulled pork plate, which included 2 sides and either white bread or cornbread. My sides were Mac and cheese and baked beans. The baked beans were on the sweet side, but good, and the Mac and cheese was some of the best I ever had! My husband's sides were fries, which were stacked high and nicely seasoned, and the onion rings, which were sliced thin and had a light, crunchy batter on them. Our waitress, Erica, was attentive and personable, and we wouldn't hesitate to ask for her on a return trip.

One piece of advice, is avoid the baked beans. They're a bit overly sweet. And to me baked beans should have some bacon in them or something like that. These disappointed a bit. But the barbecue is phenomenal. And to be honest, the thing that really stole the show was at noon they play the national anthem and everybody stands to face the flag, I love the patriotic atmosphere and you can tell that this place is run by people who care. Not do they only put pride in their food, but you can tell that they have pride in their country and I'm coming back just for that reason alone!

Since I love chicken fingers, this place was right down my alley. The fingers were nice and juicy and flavored very well. The fries were hot and cooked well and the sauce I tried was a perfect compliment to the chicken. The Mac and cheese was actually really good, which I wasn't expecting. There was a little wait time (actually a long wait now that I think about it) since everything was cooked to order and brought to the table. Minus a star for that because we were the only people inside beside another couple. Obviously they try to get the drive through out quicker than the people inside. Despite that...I returned two additional times to get take-out and each time was pretty consistent. Y'all have a good thing going Slim Chickens!

Although they were less than an hour out from closing, the friendly staff was still more than willing to serve me something tasty! They have your typical southern cafe type foods (salads, simple sandwiches, pimento cheese, nice desserts) and some creative specials. There's a nice patio out front as well as indoor seating with nice views of downtown. And of course, there are plenty of nice gifts to browse while you wait for your food to come out. I ordered a strawberry citrus salad and an iced brownie for dessert later. I really wanted to grab some strawberry pretzel salad out of the cooler, but sadly the lady in front of me in line ordered the last three pieces. Sad :( The drinks are self-serve but the employees brought my food out to me. I was super hot from a long day of being outside, so I really enjoyed their sweet tea! It was very refreshing. My salad was very yummy! I got it with a vinaigrette that was bright, punchy, and was a perfect match to the sweet and sour fruits in the salad. Two large multigrain crackers added some yummy crunch. There was one piece of orange that tasted a little off and a few bites heavy on the crumbled feta, but overall I really enjoyed the salad and would order it again. I also liked that you could order it in a small or large portion. Husband and I also enjoyed the iced brownie for dessert later that evening. I look forward to coming in again sometime when I'm in Guntersville!
