I read good things but sure wasn't impressed walking into the building. The places to sit and order are all in the back of the building. We seated ourselves in a booth with minimal cleaning needed. Had to ask for it to be cleaned. At first I wasn't too sure about our server Emma but she turned out to be wonderful. We order a 16" extra cheese pizza with half mushroom and onion. Pepsi products and hubs had the calzone with sausage, green peppers and onion and a blood orange beer. If you want deep dish Chicago style be prepared to wait from 44 minutes to an hour. We were told because it's cooked upside down it takes longer for everything to cook. The calzone was beautiful when brought to the table and pizza looked good. The cheese had a great cheese pull. Granddaughter had a heck of a time biting it off. Beer tasted good. I always take the first sip when it really cold. Pizza was delicious, you could taste the onions without it being overpowering. They were bite size. Not much business at 2:30 in the afternoon on a Wednesday. One of the servers had her kids there and they were running back and forth chasing each other. That did t bother me but the stomping on the booth seat did. As we left the server had her daughter helping her pick up a large table. The little guy was jumping off the stage. I dont like giving bad reviews, but good tasting pizza, it's not. It LOOKS good. They've done a great job making attractive copies of stuffed, and tavern Chicago-style pies but.. whoa. I was craving some good pizza and was recommended to check out this place. Our server was so friendly and showed superb hospitality. To start, we ordered Fried Ravioli. These were honestly perfection. Thank you for providing an even number of pieces so we didn't have to fight over an odd number of pieces lol. For our main, we ordered the New Year Style pizza, Half The Supreme and half Bacon Cheese Burger, square cut. Both selections were good, but the BCB was by far our favorite. It had a good ratio of ingredients to taste. My complaint with the Supreme is the vegetables were too crunchy, particularly the bell peppers and onions. We both agreed that the bell peppers overpowered the pizza. If the vegetables were cooked a little longer to soften the texture, it would've been a solid pick, for me. I love a good Supreme pizza, but this one reminded me of a fresh salad. The crust was cooked just right. There is plenty of seating indoors, including at the bar. First time here.. had great service, very helpful. For the lunch special they offered 2 for $10. So we each opted for half a sandwich & a mega slice of pizza. We were served enough food for 4 people! WOW! The half sandwiches were enough to fill us up, they filled with meat & cheese on a fabulous hoagie type bun...we ended up taking the 2 slices with us to go. We ordered food from this place for delivery at the hotel we stayed at...my wife ordered the We Build It salad and it was nothing less than a joke- hardly any lettuce and spinach and only light sprinkles of the other toppings requested (in a small Styrofoam container)...all that and costs $15...I ordered a calzone which may have actually been good if it wasn't allowed to sit somewhere then get microwave reheated just prior to delivery...rubbery, half cold, terrible. I was staying in Mentone, Al at a friends lakefront cabin for a couple of weeks and really wanted some pizza, but this place was over 1 hour away from my location. Worth I saw that several other elite helpers had visited this location and rated the deep dish exceptional. I am here to tell you that they were all correct. Located in the quaint town of Gunthersville, Al in a small attractive downtown area. In the very back there's a horseshoe bar that is reminiscent of a sports bar, while the front was a more traditional dining room. I took the pizza takeout, but the aroma, upon entry, was magnificent. I knew I was in for a treat. I wished I had the appetite to try a few other things, but this beast of a dense pizza was way more than I could handle alone. The sauce portion on this pizza was generous, something I really like. Everything was fresh and extremely tasty. If my memory serves it was around $24 which I thought was very reasonable for the quality of the cheese and considering it weighed what seemed like 10 lbs. I do apologize; I have misplaced the pictures I took of this place; hopefully my description is sufficient. If you're passing through north Alabama it's definitely worth a stop. read more

The waitress was really helpful and told me about a lunch personal sized pizza. I really wanted a pizza so I ordered that pizza with a side salad with ranch. The pizza had a really nice crust. I got ham and pineapple on the pizza and it was delicious. My salad had romaine lettuce with tomato and cucumber. It was very fresh. The bar/restaurant had tvs in it with nice tables and booths. I would definitely go back. I recommend parking down the road if it's normal meal time. Use one of the public parking areas as you may not find enough room parking in front of the restaurant on the side of the street. I'm visiting from Los Angeles (don't know the restaurant scene here) but my mom has been raving about the pizza she had when she visited Chicago several years ago. This evening, I was feeling like pizza; quick Yelp search turned up Pizza Ed. After a minute of looking at pictures, I placed a carry out order for the Cubby Chicago style pizza. We LOVED it! Most deep dish pizzas are overwhelmingly thick crust. I'm not a fan of them for that reason. Pizza Ed's isn't like that. Their deep dish had the characteristics of a hand tossed pizza put into a deep dish and FILLED with delicious, high quality ingredients! I only have one regret... I don't live closer. My family and I went with some family friends to give Pizza Ed a try after they ranted and raved about how good the pizza was. We went on a Tuesday around 7:30pm with a party of 9 and we were able to be seated immediately. The waitress we had immediately took our drinks and got them out quickly. After making the difficult decision of what we wanted, we finally ordered. My wife and youngest son went with the Chicago style pizza called "The Cubby" and they absolutely loved it. My oldest son went with the traditional 6 wings and added a side of fries covered with cheese and bacon. He's not a pizza fan. I had the house salad with ranch because they don't have vinaigrette dressing. I'm on a diet....boo! My salad came out first, and then my son's wings and fries, and finally after about 45 minutes to an hour, well worth the wait, the Chicago style pizza came out. It was hot, fresh, tasted amazing from the couple of bites I took. My wife and son loved it and was full after one slice a piece. Our friend tried a slice as well and side it was by far the best pizza he had there! Our friends ordered two New York style pizzas and they came out in about 25-30 minutes. They looked really good! Horrible service. I just sat for 20 mins. The waitress saw to the table next to us (who arrived after us) after 15 minutes. She then told us she would get right back to us after explaining to them that they were short-staffed. She then brought menus and plates before asking drink orders for another table (again that arrived after us). After this and 20 mins of ZERO service and watching two tables waited on before us, we decided to leave but thought we should say something about the service to the person at the register. No one there either. No hostess, no cashier, no manager.... No one. One lady said this was her 2nd attempt to place an order since she had arrived today and the other lady standing there told us she had been waiting on a pizza that she ordered an hour ago. Update: Door Dash dropped the ball in communicating with Pizza Ed. The pizza was still sent out uncooked. Mainly I hopped to communicate this to Pizza Ed so that they are aware. I have now been able to accomplish that task. Previously I loved this place. I always order delivery. The last order the pizza was so undercooked it was uneatable. They were close to closing time so someone made a judgement call and sent the pizza out too early. I tried various was to complain and no luck . Pizza Ed you let me down. I have gone back to Pizza Ed's a few times now. I did try the Chicago deep dish and it was excellent. I also tried the Detroit style. The Detroit style was ok, too sweet for my taste, but I've never had authentic Detroit style pizza before so I have nothing to compare it to. Pizza Ed's is my go to pizza place. read more

We had a situation where our venue fell through for our granddaughter's 4th birthday party. We had eaten at Pizza Ed (Guntersville) before and loved the food, so we thought we would see if they could accommodate a party of about 25 at the last minute on a Saturday right at opening time (they actually let us come in to decorate about 20 minutes before opening when we called). Not only did they accommodate us in the private room, but Debbie and Heidi even helped us decorate and met all of our needs before the birthday girl arrived! We have been watching and wanting to try Pizza Ed for a while since seeing it on Facebook. Today we decided to take the 2.5 hour drive to try it out. We started with the breadsticks with oil and they came out hot, fresh, and were great. We ordered the Chicago thin and also the Deep dish to try both so we would know which we would want if we came back. Both were good the the deep dish was by far the best I have ever had. It was the right consistency of cheese, sauce, and bread. Both my wife and I would definitely get the deep dish next time and will likely make the drive back soon, it's that good. The downtown area is very neat and Pizza Ed was very nice and clean with great service. Definitely worth trying if you are in the area! read more

The Tavern Crust pizza I received tonight was horrible. Absolutely the worst pizza I have ever had. Yes worse than the cheap frozen from DG. I cannot fathom why the cook would let such a soggy, greasy, pizza leave the kitchen. Tonight was not busy but the experience was bad from the start. The hostess ignored us while she chatted on the phone though we were the only ones waiting. When the pizza arrived we asked for cracked pepper and they didn't even know what cracked pepper was. Diving into the Tavern crust pizza it was limp. Soggy beyond belief! When asked by the waitress if everything was okay I stated no and she just turned and walked away. $48 later and the staff is cleaning off our table while we're still eating. Again we were asked if the pizza is okay and again we both say no to the waitress who was already walking away. I usually give a good review but the only thing good tonight was two friends getting together. It now midnight and the grease from Ed's is making it's way through my body and my body is making weird sounds. My mind is thinking what if we.had eaten the other half of soggy pizza. A buddy and I stopped here after a round of golf at Gunters Landing, and let me tell you this might be the best pizza I've had. I got the Buffalo chicken pizza and he got the spicy Italian, he ate his whole 12" pizza and I had 2 pieces left (only reason I didn't eat all of it is because I wanted to take it home for my wife to try and she said it was her favorite pizza she's had). We were there at 2:30 on a Thursday so there wasn't anybody there, we sat at the bar and had fantastic service! Our pizzas came out very quickly and were perfectly cooked.
