All of our food was fresh and delicious. I got the gyro platter and my mom got a hamburger steak.

I just realized I reviewed this place in 2014. Yes, we still make the trip to Oneonta to eat pizza here with Rita! We usually go with friends and make the 40 minute drive from Gardendale. Real cheese! Pepperoni that does not give you heartburn! Two for one pizza -all the time - printed in the menu - one for now, one for later- it reheats well. The lunch buffet on weekdays gets you a salad bar too. The macaroni salad is the best! They also have pizza, salad, and meats and veggies on a Sunday lunch buffet! We come for the pizza. Its well worth the drive. This place has my favorite plain old pepperoni pizza. With real cheese. read more

This is a great little divey place. Immediately upon entering the restaurant we were made to feel like family. So much so that I assumed my husband knew the staff. But no, they're just that friendly. The waitress was really upbeat and kindly offered suggestions in each category of the menu. She helped make my choice of entrée really simple. Buy One Get One Free pizzas!?! Yes please! It doesn't even have to be the same toppings! We plan on coming back for the buffet sometime soon. 10/10 would recommend because when you're here, you're family. read more

We got seated fast. We sat down, waiter got our order. My boyfriend got his salad that he ordered. It comes with a basket of crackers, a bug is in the basket. I THOUGHT it was dead but when I (quietly) took the basket with the bug in it to the waitress, it started moving. (A half alive bug). Then we get our food. The meat on my boyfriend's food was good, not the best but okay for the price. His spaghetti that was with it was almost nothing but grease. He stopped eating. Mine was the same but not as much. Still enough to notice. My bread was very hard. As someone that has worked in food service, this was kind of crazy, if there was any slight inconvenience at the establishment I used to work at, I would at least offer a discount. Let alone a whole bug in someone's food, I would've taken off the whole salad! read more

Great service, very kind people. I will say that the pizza almost reminded me of a frozen pizza. Now with that being said it isn't bad in any shape or form. Every single server there interacted with us and were SUPER kind. As far as buffet pizza goes it was great and I will more than likely be back. read more

We had never eaten at Giovannis, but it was a very pleasant experience. Our server was very helpful and friendly. They have a lot of options on the menu, pizza, pasta, Greek meals, Stromboli, calzones, and steaks too. I had Giovanni's spaghetti- a baked spaghetti with meat sauce, peppers, mushrooms, topped with melted cheese and pepperoni- it was delicious! I added a side of Alfredo sauce to dip the FABULOUS breadsticks in... it was smooth and creamy, not quite as buttery and rich as Olive Garden, but it was good! My husband had their version of the "Tour of Italy" - Chicken Parmesan, lasagna, & manicotti- he really enjoyed it. A salad was included with his meal. The portions were large and we both had leftovers. Everything we had was very reasonably priced, especially with the portion sizes. The pizza is "buy one, get one free" and I can't wait to go back to try it - the pizzas we saw looked amazing. They also have buffet options on certain nights... I'm sure they are packed on those nights. They were quite busy for a Thursday evening. A very pleasant and nice surprise- will definitely be back! read more

My family's favorite restaurant and one of the best ones in town. The ace is super clean. The employees are super nice, always checking on your table to see if everything is okay. My family had the chance to meet the owner and she is super nice as well. My mom's favorite thing to get is their grilled chicken salad and mine is the shrimp scampi and the chicken Alfredo. My favorite Italian place! I've tried several things on the menu and they have all been amazing. Just ate there again today.

I've been going here since I was little.. the owners are just too sweet. Every waitress I've ever had has been super friendly, very helpful, and always earn a well deserved tip. Their pasta? Oh that's to die for! Their pizza is literally the BEST in town. They have so many options for so many people (even the picky ones)!!! I love this place and I always have! If you're from here and you haven't eaten here what are you even doing in life? If you're not from here and you're visit or passing through? Give this little hole in the wall a chance. If you like just peppers and onions raw then this pizzas for you! Don't ask about the feta cheese you expect because the 3 crunbles is the new norm! Has the best pizza around. We mostly get take out. There white sauce pizza is much better than their red sauce. They really need to work on their red sauce. Only reason not 5 stars. Whatever you get, request the white sauce on it. Red sauce taste like it came out of a can. Everything else is wonderful. read more

Wow, this place is surprisingly good. I honestly was not expecting much but the service is great and the food is packed with robust flavors. I had the tour of Italy which is chicken parm, spaghetti, and lasagna. The spaghetti has a hint of cinnamon which I really liked. This is probably the best restaurant in Blount count all around. The staff here is amazing and very polite and attentive. Provably some of the best service I've had in a dining establishment. With that said the food leaves much to be desired. I'm really surprised an Italian restaurant has sauce that is so eerily similar to canned chef boyardee. Portions are large, but juts unimpressive plates as far as taste and quality is concerned. Would give a higher rating because the food is actually very good. However, it's almost not worth the trip because the service is always snooty(especially the older lady at the register). I have only eaten here twice in the last 2 years and I can say there are so many better options in this town (McDonald's included). The wait staff is very friendly, but sadly the food is something that is lacking. The alfredo and marinara sauce tastes like it was poured straight out of a jar that you buy at Walmart, and hasn't even been warmed up. The bread "sticks" are chopped up pieces of burnt french bread that are hard to bite. The restaurant itself is outdated. The decor needs updated and it wouldn't hurt to revamp the menu. So other than the nice staff and owners....there really isn't anything here worth anyone's time. read more

Service, and putting the customer first, is where it starts with me. Unfortunately, that does not seem to be the policy at Giovanni's in Oneonta, AL. The food is decent, but I will never go there again. I was in a hurry yesterday trying to get ready for a wedding shower, and I wanted to order 4 take-out salads for the event. I called ahead of time at 3:00 PM for pickup at 4:00. Around 4, I realized I was running late, so I wanted to give the restaurant a heads-up. I called again and told them I would be another hour. It seems like this was a reasonable and fair thing to do, not wanting to make them rush over my order for no reason. When I got there at 5:00 as planned, I was treated very rudely by the staff. I tried to get them to explain, but it seems they did not appreciate me calling so much ahead of time. I still don't understand why - but even if they had a valid reason, it was not explained to me, nor does it justify the rude treatment I received. read more
