Ruben is pretty spot on! Not too bad on a Saturday night! Full bar. Only down fall is they close at 9..on a Saturday?!

Old fashioned was amazing. Excellent fries, and the J cat stacker was incredible. Highly recommend

I am a regular customer here. I do like their Eggs Benedict and depending on the omelette special that as well. I have had the meatloaf dinner with mashed potatoes, as well as the fried fish dinner and both are good. The fried Calamari is good, but too many shoshito peppers, I request none. The sauce that is served with them has good flavor but I ask for it on the side to dip. I like my calamari crisp. The Burgers are dry and overpriced on a thick bun. The Tacos have very little filling and they don't heat the corn tacos so they taste pasty and flavorless. It is the only place around town.....so they do get good business. They do have a small bar as well which also draws in business. The bathrooms are spacious, updated and clean. The desserts are good. Watch for staff using their fingers or not wiping serving utensils. Otherwise, awesome Creme Brûlée, the Chocolate Mousse cups are Good, they do make a nice Pumpkin roll with cream cheese frosting seasonally. I like crisp cookies so I don't get them here as they are all soft for the most part. I do feel many items are overpriced for the product, but the listed items I posted I recommend as filling and satisfying. Clean restaurant and most staff is friendly and personable and efficient. They will make things right if you are not satisfied. read more

Dinner this week at the JCaT was especially sweet. My wife and I made our reservations the week before, to guarantee a table on this special day. The restaurant, by the way, was filled for for the evening. It is our go-to place all year round, but we both experimented with the menu. My wife chose the Butternut Squash Soup with Maple and Crispy Sage as her starter,, and I went with the Calamari Appetizer. We were both very happy with our choices but I was blown away by the Calamari preparation (Crispy Fried, Tossed with Pineapple Chili Sauce, Celery Root, Puree, Bacon Jam, Blistered Shishito Peppers, Sesame & Scallions). This was, hands down, the best Calamari appetizer dish that I have had anywhere. Our server, Addison, was very helpful, attentive, never intrusive, and always friendly. He is very polite, professional throughout the meal. Our Rntrees were similarly first rate in presentation as well as taste. I ordered the Beef Bourguignon--Braised Short Rib in Red Wine with Mushrooms, Bacon, Carrots, Pearl Onions & Butter Whipped Potatoes. My wife ordered the New England Seafood Bake--Haddock, Lobster & Baby Shrimp in a Lemon-White Wine Sauce, with Buttered Crumbs, Served with a Wild Rice Blend and Green Beans. Both dishes were excellent. We chose desserts to go, and Addison helped us package them to take home. A perfect Dinner from start to finish. read more

kinda bad tbh i wouldn't eat here again but the service was goodish. wings carried they bomb asf. overall shit lowkey mid as it gets.

The food was ok. I had a cheeseburger and some fries. Look, I've only been here once but when I see these kinds of issues I think I can't be the only one. Breaking my own rule here, which is don't give a bad review just for the service when you've only been there once. This place had some annoying yet familiar characteristics. Every bar stool was taken. Nobody was actually drinking though. Which resulted in the anomaly that the bar service was absurdly slow. Like, the bar is packed, everyone is just using the chairs to sit and watch the people playing guitar and singing cover songs, there are three bartenders talking to each other, and it's impossible to get service. Because the bartenders are assuming that nobody wants to drink. But, I actually did. I've seen this in other places, like if it's trivia night. Tonight the reason to sit at the bar and not drink was I guess people who were the family and friends of the cover band. It's simple - if I walk into your bar, get right up in my face and ask me what I want. I've been driving for six hours (like a lot of people who walk into your place.) Then, after you learn from me what I want, please, get it soon. I ordered, the person I ordered it from walked away and I got what I ordered five minutes later - from another person. End result, I had two beers and two bourbons, but because of the weirdness only got charged for one of each. I did not attempt to correct it (which is unlike me) because I was so annoyed, and left a gigantic tip instead. A double message that I wasn't comfortable with. This is one of those only game in town places. Nothing else around so you gotta deal. read more

I was so disappointed in this place. We were hiking with a dog and we were ready to meet family for lunch. We googled dog friendly place and this was the top choice. We then called to make sure and had an extensive conversation with them about the dog. Yet when we arrived 40 mins later and met family there we were told emphatically that dogs were not allowed on the property. We didn't fight with them as we have eaten at the restaurant before and the food was not worth fighting about read more

Menu is limited. Some of my favorites have disappeared and it's a bit pricey for serving size. I would recommend the dirty fries and the taco appetizers though. I used to like this place much more and hope to give a better review in the future. read more

This restaurant has great food but for the love of God please put butter on the toast. Please put it on after it's toasted too so it melts in. So many restaurants more give you cold butter to put in the ashtray cooking toast. What a buzz kill. You didn't even put butter on the toast. Also if your at the end of the pot of coffee, be some more up. Otherwise I really love this place read more

What a great menu! Good was delicious. Ordered a scallop appetizer and they were cooked perfectly, surrounded by a delicious corn relish. The kale skillet was amazing - and I'm not a kale lover. The chocolate mousse pie was just the right amount of sweetness, not overdone. Waitress was impressive. Highly recommended! And the porch is lovely. read more

The place itself is beautiful. Service was fine. Food was ok. I got the strawberry pancakes and it was too much for me. I barely ate half of them. You can tell they're made fresh but ultimately they felt a little too dry for my taste. I'd probably try something else next time. I'd go back because it was friendly and a beautiful place. read more

Good food, very friendly service, nice dining room. We visited Jericho while in VT for a ski vacation. Our youngest son had the kids menu which offers a kids drawing contest. He drew a picture on the menu and we left it at the front desk with our name and #. Sure enough, he won the contest! Restaurant called me to let us know and I asked if they could please mail us a copy of the menu (following month's kids menu features the contest winning drawing). They did and they included the $10 gift card prize. Very thoughtful to mail it since we are out-of-towners. We will definitely try to visit again on our next ski trip to the area. The shrimp spring rolls were very good, clam chowder was flavorful, and they have a great beer selection. read more

This place is great for fans of long lines, small portions and food that has been cooled because it has sat for so long waiting to pick it up. Don't call anything a "Vermont" something just because you're adding maple bacon... Very delicious dinner entrees. Yankee pot roast was fantastic -- sweet/savory sauce. Fellow diner raved about scallops. Tasty house red wine. Noise level is much better in back dining area. 8/9/17 update: best Reuben of my life: the meat was so tender, tasty and sublime - also, just the right amount, not piled mountainously high. I suspect their onsite smokehouse is somehow involved. 8/26/18 update: everything is good. Millennial carnivore daughter raved about the vegetarian cacciatore entree; husband loves the meatloaf. read more

This is a local gem. The waitstaff are consistently awesome and we love sitting outside. Food is good too.

I am happy every time I come here - the food is good, and even when there is a slight issue, the kitchen will happily resolve the problem. They are busy - especially on Monday wing night and weekends - reservations are highly recommended if you are more than 2 people during the busy times We have never had a bad waitress - Katie was absolutely wonderful. This will be our go to place when ever we have out of town guests. read more

I like this place! The food has been excellent everytime I've been. Good Burgers!! Really good Bread and butter for the table. The service is very good also, but a little slow when it's packed. I'd give it the full 5*s, but it's the only game in town, so on weekends it's ALWAYS packed! No room for parking/long wait kind of packed. But that's because It's so good!! Can I give it 4.75 *s? read more

The Cafe is a delightful local gathering place. It's like visiting the family you actually like to visit!

JCAT, as its know by locals, is a culinary must-do when you're in the 802 area code. I thought my vegetable rissoto was the best dish on the table, until I tried the salmon and lobster and the ribs. But I was still wrong because the chicken and waffles was crowned king of the table. We debated for more than 15 minutes what gave the maple sauce its tang and eventually we gave up. The only things we agreed on was how delicious each of our meals was and how happy we were to choose JCAT for our family dinner. read more

I had an excellent dine-in experience at this place. They are making an effort at contact tracing, keeping masks on, etc. The hostess and waitress were excellent. The food was awesome. I highly recommend their cole slaw. I'm normally not big on cole slaw, but theirs is to be crazy about. read more

This was an amazing experience! Fiod and service top notch! My brother and I both tried different types of meals. Not disappointed!

A little hesitant about adding this review - competition for dining, you understand. BUT when a business does something right it deserves to be complimented and recognized. GF and I had brunch at JCAT and the food was incredible. She had the salmon with potato latkes and I had the brisket. GF described her lunch as very good (and she's no push over for quality) and my brisket was extraordinary. And we're not talking "small plates" - plenty of food, which precluded the idea of desert (sorry, JCAT). Our waitress, like nearly every waiter with whom we have interacted in the last 3-4 months, was knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. In short, please don't go to JCAT because I want to always get a table when I have spontaneous urges on the way back from Stowe or Smuggs or St Albans (yeah, I would). read more

Foods typical delicious here but every time they redo the menu they remove the item I always return for.

Place is cozy, food was good, service was eh. My boyfriend and I both ordered a meal for breakfast. He wanted a side of bacon but it wasn't on the menu so we asked our waitress how much it costs. She said $2. So we thought oh that's fair, and got an order. It came out and there were two slices. The bacon was really good so when we finished eating he thought he would order more to go. He asked the waitress if he could have an order to go, she said "Yeah! No problem" and then he said "Because it's only $2 why not" and she says, "Oh sorry it's actually $4." He was really confused why she didn't mention that when he ordered another plate, knowing he thought it was only $2. He asked the waitress if she could make it right and either not charge for the second order (since we already paid double what she told us), or just let us pay $2 for a total of $6 and let us leave with another order. At this point the waitress got really defensive even though he was simply offering solutions to make it right since she told us the complete wrong price for the side of bacon, and almost let us order it twice under that same assumption. She did not make it right and turned our otherwise nice experience into one where we felt cheated. If you don't know the price of something, don't make a shoddy guess. And once you find out the real price, tell the customer before he tries to order it again. Being a waitress is all customer service and she failed at that. read more

Ate there two nights in a row. Food and service both nights were excellent! Excellent service. Thank you very much Kelly!! Their chicken tender served with two biscuits went very well with their special maple syrup dressing. Dry rubbed chicken wings were very delicious. Black beans and tomato soup was great. It was deliciously complex and flavorful. Very good value!! Sorry I can't go there third night. I will come back next year!! read more

Lovely time today sitting on the porch with friends today. Our waiter, Lee, was patient even though they were short a staff member and he was having to hustle. My friends had the shaved steak sandwich and both loved it, I had the Maple Chicken Chili Blt with Maple Sriracha & mayo with a side of sweet potato fries done to just the right crunch. I had a Switchback, followed by coffee and a dessert, raspberry - chocolate mousse cake. A thin slice of chocolate cake was the base, topped by chocolate mousse, with a lovely layer of Raspberry mousse topping that. The garnish was a swirl of whipped cream holding two perfect berries, one Raspberry, one blackberry. I'm picky about my desserts, especially when it's a mousse and I couldn't fault this one at all. I'll be back soon. read more

This review is more about the lovely people at the JCat than the food (but only because I didn't eat). I'm from Portland, Oregon. My daughter and I were visiting colleges around Burlington last weekend. We were feeling a little stir crazy so we Uber'ed to Jericho. Once we were done looking at historical society stuff we tried to Uber back to Burlington but there were "no cars available". And then, dun dun duuuuuun, we realized we didn't have cell service. We found this lovely tavern nearby. They were super accommodating and let me use their landline to call a cab. While we waited for the cab my daughter had a cinnamon roll and I had a couple glasses of beer. My daughter ate the whole cinnamon roll (without sharing), a good sign. And the beer, no problem. It was good stuff. I'm very grateful for their hospitality. read more

It's been years since I've been in what was once the Flower Mill. On a whim, my brother and I opted to take our parents there for lunch. Wow! I am definitely impressed. While it was odd going in to the Turner's house again, I found myself stunned with the decor in the room we were in. It felt homey, warm, and welcoming. The fish and chips were some of the best I've had in Vermont. The beer selection was surprising, especially given that I know other taverns have tried and failed to take off in the Underhill/Jericho area. This is not the standard Bud, Coors, and other beers that I find are too watered down to have much flavor. Instead, you have a wide selection from local brewers like Lost Nation, Fiddlehead, and Burlington Beer. My husband loved his burger, as did my brother, and the Reuben was so big that my dad couldn't finish it. Not one of us had anything negative to say. We'll definitely be back! read more

Had lunch there today ( early Feb, 2014). It's a really nice place. The roasted pumpkin hummus is wonderful. It's slightly sweet and served with warmed pita. It really fits the Vermont winter. I also had the soup of the day, a seafood chowder. It was like Manhattan clam chowder with clams and other seafood added. Very, very tasty stuff. After soups, my partner had a burger that he loved, and I had a chicken club that was really tasty. Also, their wine list by the glass is very nice for people who enjoy dry reds (that's me--thank you for not cluttering your list with cloyingly sweet, jammy wines). So glad to have another good spot in the area. We'll be back! Oh, and they have an amazing looking dessert case. We didn't have anything after our huge lunch, but I can't wait to try the key lime or coconut cream pies. The staff here is also really fantastic. Good stuff. read more

This place is decent. Whether you are contemplating going for lunch or dinner I would stick to the salads, sandwiches and drinks. I went for dinner, ordered the French onion soup, and the Reuben with hand cut fries. My girlfriend ordered the "entree" skillet of Mac and cheese. My sandwich and soup were okay just very salty. My girlfriends entree of Mac and cheese was tiny, came with no sides, had virtually no ham in it, and was extremely bland and dry. I was looking around at other people's entrees and could see the disappointment on their faces when they arrived. They are all mostly over $20 and just not worth it I.e. sliver of meatloaf and some mashed potatoes, etc... The small skillet of Mac and cheese was definitely not worth $17! Overall, this is a fun place to watch and listen to some light music, have a drink or dessert and a sandwich. Stick to something like that and you won't be disappointed. If you are expecting some fancy dinner entrees you will be sorely disappointed! Service was fine and key lime pie was excellent. My voodoo cocktail was great, too. It's a tavern folks, stick to the pub grub. read more

There are few times in life when I'm so incredibly disappointed to the point where I actually have to write a review. It's a shame because I did frequent this same building when it had other names, and had hopes for a decent meal with my family. Oh how wrong I was. Not only were there flies constantly buzzing around us, even if we were sitting inside, but we waited upwards of fifteen minutes for a mocha and two coffees. The mocha was mediocre, and the coffee was extremely bitter. Then came the waiting for the food. Forty minutes for two skillets and steak and eggs. And finally, when we did get our food, lukewarm was putting it nicely. The funny part was that the waitress told us to be careful because the skillets were hot. The potatoes and corned beef had obviously been in the oven long enough to dry out. The steak, which was requested as rare, was hardly pink at all in the middle. The pouched eggs were a total mess; I could hardly move them with a spoon before they simply broke apart, the whites were still not done. The only thing in this meal that was done correctly was the toast. I can't say which was worse. The terrible atmosphere, distracted service, or abysmal food. read more
