Wide variety of pinoy inspired pastries. Only tried the 2 pictures I have below and they are pretty good. Was also very cutely decorated inside. They have coffee and other drinks too. Will definitely come back to try more next time!
I've been to Jennivee's twice now and I also got my college graduation cake from here last year for pick-up! They did a beautiful job. For my graduation cake, I chose the tres leches and it was so creamy, moist, and delicious. I basically ate half of the cake by myself lol. This most recent time, I needed a snack and wanted something sweet. Everything here looks amazing and I'm sure tastes amazing too, so it's hard to choose. I chose to get the berry chantilly cake slice since it was a hot day, and it was the perfect refreshing treat! It was soooo good.
I was in the area and was excited to stop by Jennivee's new location. This new location is huge compared to the old one. The bakery case had me drooling - so many options from cupcakes, to cakes by the slice, to beautiful cakes ready to go if you need a cake for an event or party! This is the place you want to go to grab one. They also had a few other baked goods like a scone, muffins, cookies and I forget what else :) and they have a toooonnnnn of seating, so this would be a great spot to catch up with a friend - with a tea or coffee! They have coffee drinks too. I was here to treat myself and am a sucker for cake by the slice. It's not always the easiest thing to find tbh, so I loved that they had so many options. First I got the strawberry cheesecake - it's alternating layers of strawberry cake and cheesecake - and very yummy. I found the cake to be a tiny bit dry, but maybe it was just because the cheesecake was SO yummy, I wanted more of that one! The other slice was a chocolate chip cookie cake - but unfortunately it was completely dried out after 1 day, even in the fridge, and even when I tried letting it warm up a bit on the counter (still in the box they served it in). I will definitely return and suggest you check it out, too!
After a dr's appt, I came right after they opened. They didn't have as much available so I opted for a ube latte w oat milk and ube brownies to share with coworkers. It was delicious albeit on the pricier side. Next time I will come back for the cake and other items.
It's so beautiful inside!! I stopped in today for breakfast before a haircut nearby. And I am so glad I finally was able to try this place. I'm be walked by the old locations a few times and never actually went inside. Today I ordered an ube latte, a ube cupcake, a coconut and ube bar, and a bacon and egg croissant. Everything was so yummy. I had the croissant for breakfast along with the latte. And then shared the cupcake and ube bar with my family later in the day. The decor inside it so well done and there is so much space inside. Lots of tables and chairs. I interacted with two of the staff members and they were so nice and kind. Very welcoming. I will definitely be coming back. (And buying more pastries to go)
I felt so spoiled for choice. Everything looked so good and you have to make sure to look at both the top and bottom trays to make sure you didn't miss any cupcake flavors. Service was nice. They have a lot of seating and the interior is so cute. The cupcakes were great. We got tiramisu and tres leche. $5.50 each.
This bakery and cafe is so cute! The cakes, pastries, cupcakes and gelato were all mouthwatering. It was before lunch when we stopped in for coffee. We were just going to grab and go, but once we stepped inside, we couldn't pull ourselves away. The cafe is so inviting. We had a blueberry muffin which was amazing and a chocolate croissant. Next time we will definitely grab cupcakes or a cake to bring to a celebration.
Stopped into this place as the bakery we planned on going to was closed. We wanted some sweets to end our evening. My husband left the selection up to me. So I grabbed carrot cake and red velvet for him. For me I grabbed main squeeze (lemon bar cupcake) and bad-n-bojee (chocolate and raspberry). The service was prompt and the flavor of cupcakes unique. I would definitely seek this place out to custom order a cake or cheesecake. Price on cupcakes was fair given flavor complexity. Would return to satisfy my sweet tooth any day!!!
Delicious strawberry crunch cheesecake and portion with the pink cute interior. Cupcakess for days and nice traditional carrot cake flavor. Friendly over the counter staff and easy going spot.
Cute space that's open late with really good cupcakes, coffee/tea, friendly service and lots of seating. We tried the hazelnut bomb and main squeeze, plus the freak of nature tea, which was phenomenal. Beautiful cakes for special occasions too!
Have to update my original review since they've since switched locations and wow this new one is so cute! Plenty of inside seating and love the way they decorated the interior. I happened to be nearby so swung in and decided on the orange creamsicle cupcake because I've never seen one before. In hindsight, probably not my flavor - more geared towards kids but I appreciate how many options they have ranging from cookies to cake slices and a whole drink menu too. The cupcake was really nicely packaged so that it didn't get ruined in transit. Still a 3.5 overall rating because I haven't found a baked item I love yet but that doesn't mean I won't keep trying :)

Soo happy I got to visit this bakery in person! The first time I tried the cupcakes from here was at my coworkers retirement party and I fell in love! I think I ate like 3 cupcakes in one sitting *sorry not sorry*. I have a huge sweet tooth so I think it's acceptable. When I found out the owner(s) are filipino, it made me like them even more! Their cute dessert shop is located in Lakeview where street parking was easy to find. They are known for their delicious cakes and cupcakes. They offer alot of filipino flavors like ube, pandan, and more! I definitely want to order a cake from them soon. Cupcakes: The 4 I chose were the mango cream, purple velvet, matcha cherry blossom, and tres leches. The matcha cherry blossom was my favorite because I'm a matcha fanatic and I loved the concept of the flavor. I love their cupcakes because they don't have that artificial taste and they aren't super sweet. You can taste the high quality! read more
ordered a custom gender reveal 8" cake and worked with Gabriella via email. the ordering and pick-up process was smooth. we had provided some inspo pics and the cake turned out just how we wanted! the buttermilk frosting was delicious and the cake itself was light and fluffy. the flavor was vanilla. docking a star because we were upset that there was no writing on the cake even though we had requested it and specified what it should say. read more

Jennivee's cupcakes never disappoint! They are an LGBTQ+ owned bakery with a wide range of fun cupcake flavors, such as ube, matcha cherry, lemon, chocolate tres leches, berry, and more. They have a gluten free and a vegan option as well. I ordered the ube and the matcha this time. The ube was my favorite! The flavor came through well, the frosting was buttery and light, and there was coconut in the middle. There is no indoor seating at Jennivee's but they have some outdoor seating at their patio on Sheffield. It's hard to walk by Jennivee's and not stop in for a cupcake (or two)! read more

They serve cupcakes, cakes, muffins, etc. I got the lemon cupcake and it was beautiful on the outside and so tasty. The frosting was perfect and there was a cute little lemon decor on the cupcake. The service was quick and the lady taking order was kind. The decor was so pretty and this bakery is very including and welcoming with many LGBTQ+ decor. The bathroom is so cute. I would like to start this by saying I truly believe Jennivee's has the most delicious cakes/cupcakes in the city...that being said. I wanted to order a custom birthday cake through them, so I submitted a form through their online portal 3 weeks before the pickup date (a week more than the minimum). It says on their website to expect a 48 hour response time, I waited 72 hours and didn't hear anything, so I called both locations and left a voicemail, with no answer. The next day I did the same, no answer. The next day I walked first to their Sheffield location where they told me to go to the Halsted location. There, the person working said their cake decorator wasn't in yet for the day, but they assured me they would get back to me before the end of the day, just to confirm the cake. They did not get back to me. I called back again the next day and then sent an email, finally they responded. So I get the order placed, it's a 8" cake that serves about 20 people and cost around $220. I had a veryyyy simple design and asked on the form for it to say "bday brat". I go to pick it up this morning, and it only says "brat". I tell them this wasn't what I ordered, so they offered to have the decorator add it, the decorator attempted to add the bday, but it objectively looked bad, the letters were wonky. I then asked to just remove it, which they did, but this is the quality of the final cake I received. The person offered me a cupcake for the inconvenience and I said no thank you, as I feel like this whole experience has been far more difficult than a $3 cupcake can solve. Overall an extremely disappointing experience, I would highly recommend trying a different bakery for a custom cake unless Jennivee's is able to improve this experience. read more

We stopped in on Saturday afternoon. The ambiance is cute and inviting. I was disappointed to find such a limited selection, mostly cupcakes and cake slices. I was hoping for some French pastries. We did have a slice of the Bailey's Irish Cream Cake and a chocolate mint cupcake. I found the Bailey's cake to be very delicious -----moist chocolate cake and a light filling of frosting. The cake wasn't overly sweet which is a plus. The cupcake was flavorful but was just a basic cupcake, cake and frosting. If the cupcake had had a filling, that would have been a real treat! The staff was friendly and efficient. We will be back since the bakery is so close to Wrigley Field. Hopefully, we'll get to try some other pastries. read more

Jennivee's has been on my list for quite some time, but because I live in the suburbs, we don't often travel into the city. But for Easter and my upcoming birthday, I decided to get dessert from here for our family gathering. It was a long trip but so worth it! The bakery is cozy and cute and is located in the Lakeview area. We were able to find street parking easily. I didn't get the name of the employee who was there, but she was awesome, helpful, and super sweet. First, the purple velvet cake: hands down, the best ube cake we have had! It was light and we loved the coconut strings! The cupcake flavors from the top: chocolate tres leches, purple velvet, cookies n' cream, and mango cream. 2nd row: scarlette, dark tiramisu, lil' german, and lil' gent. 3rd row: banoffee, main squeeze, matcha cherry blossom, and snowbelle. We have not eaten all the cupcakes yet, but so far, one of my brothers liked the tres leches cupcake, and my other brother liked the snowbelle. Hubby wasn't too fond of the lil' german cupcake, but he's picky. Overall, we will come back to try the other flavors. read more

I visited the new Jennivee's bakery and cafe location on Halsted and Oakdale for my sister in law's birthday. My husband and I love the cakes from the smaller bakery on Sheffield. (I have gotten an Ube cake for my birthday the past few years.) It was our first time to the new shop. My first impression was how spacious and clean the shop was. The Karen cupcake offers a delicious vegan vanilla option. The edible glitter added extra flair. I would have never guessed it was vegan if I hadn't known! The beverage menu caters to the neighborhood professionals who may want to sit with their laptop and sip on a latte in the new space. The iced matcha with oat milk was creamy and umami! My sister in law ordered a slice of chocolate cake with hazelnut cream and a Ferrero Rocher on top! The rich sponge and creamy frosting did not disappoint. We topped it with a birthday candle, and it was the perfect birthday treat! The staff was friendly and informative. I would highly recommend giving this bakery and cafe a try the next time the mood strikes! read more

Visited Chicago to celebrate a friend's birthday and needed a cake. The purple velvet cake was perfect. Moist and delicious to the last slice. Also available as a cupcake. Note there is no inside seating so orders are to go or be eaten on the patio. This may have changed recently (post covid) so you may want to check if you'd like to eat your treat there. read more

Amazing cupcakes! Been here a few times and service has been good - super helpful with recommendations and questions. This time around I got the Guinness Fudge, Chobeh (chocolate cupcake with Ube frosting), Matcha Cherry, and Mango Cream. The ube frosting is incredible! The chocolate cake was really good in the Chobeh, but my favorite of the bunch was the Guinness Fudge - a great chocolatey flavor without feeling too sugary. The Matcha Cherry cake also had a nice flavor but the filling was too sweet for my taste. The Mango Cream had a sweeter filling too but still tasty for a fruity cupcake. Overall, an awesome spot and love the creative flavors. Highly recommend! read more

My wife and I have ordered several cakes & cupcakes over the last few years from the other location that is now closed. Slowly going through the menu and we've loved everything we've tried so far. Preordered a cake for my wife's birthday at the new location (had never been to this one) and I'm kind of disappointed that the cake looked more frosting than cake. Other people have posted images of cake slices as well as the Buko Pandan specifically and the ratio of cake to frosting on those looks normal. The one I picked up last week looked 85% - 90% frosting to 10% - 15% cake. read more

My boyfriend ordered me a tiramisu birthday cake from here and it was my all time favorite cake I've ever had. So amazing!!! I didn't even know tiramisu cakes were a thing! It was prepared beautiful, incredibly moist and flavorful, and truly made my birthday. I have walked past this place a lot since I live locally but never stopped in for some reason, but I can promise you that I'll be headed in next time I'm passing through. Especially since I found out they have the tiramisu cake as a cupcake (says the boyfriend, we will see if the rumors are true). Pricey but SO worth it! If you want a grocery store price then go get a grocery store cake - this is a luxury. read more

Great cakes, but rude service. We've been solid supporters of this establishment both at the new location and its previous home. But one can only take so much attitude and/or indifference from the sales staff. We were met with the same rude service today (see my other review which I accidently posted under a different Yelp account). We left today without our cakes for our family holiday gathering today. I've always passed Jennivee's and finally had a chance to stop in! I got the hummingbird cupcake and it was delicious!! I also appreciate that the bakery is open until 9pm, if you ever need a sweet treat for dessert. I am not sure where Jennivee's lands price-wise vs other gourmet cupcakes places, but I'm impressed with the variety of unique flavors - will need to come back and try the other cupcakes! read more
well I've been to Genevieve's before but they relocated from The Sheffield location to this new location since the Sheffield location closed down. it is much more roomier and cozy. ambience wise. I was craving for Ube cupcakes and their Uber cakes are actually very good texture wise and sweetness. I decided to eat dessert first before I head out eating deep dish pizza. service was pretty quick but then again it was a quiet Wednesday night. I do recommend getting cakes here but it's been a cost of pretty penny and if you're going to order something to go you will you better order a week ahead. other than that it's a chill place in regards to having cupcakes and the cupcakes were not that expensive read more
What a charming bakery! Stopped by to pick up some desserts for a get together with friends and I was impressed with the creative flavors of cupcakes! I decided to try four, detailed below (see my attached pictures for the full cupcake descriptions): 1) Strawberry Kiss (5/5): My favorite of the bunch. The strawberry filling was so delicious, and of course strawberry and chocolate are a time-tested classic combination. And I was impressed how they were able to get strawberry flavor into the buttercream. 2) Bad N Boujee (4/5): I was pleasantly surprised by the raspberry champagne buttercream! There's a raspberry with edible gold on top. However, I found the dark chocolate ganache to be a little heavy. I guess I'm not boujee enough. 3) Purple Velvet (4/5): I always love whenever there's an ube flavored anything on the menu. There was a coconut filling as well, and while I appreciate a textural contrast, I found the jelly-like strands to be incongruous with the surrounding cake. Maybe something like a coconut custard would have worked better. 4) Dark Tiramisu (5/5): Delicious. Chocolate and espresso, what more could you want? Great for chocolate lovers. Also, I have tried their red velvet cake on a separate occasion, and I can indeed confirm that it is the bomb dot com. I would definitely come back for more! I was an avid supporter of Jennivee's Bakery until my last experience with them with ordering a cake. Long story short, Eric, the manager, gave me the impression that I would receive a full refund due to them improperly fulfilling my order. I ended up with a partial refund of $20 and I have been trying to contact them via multiple routes (email, text, phone) to find out why and I have been left unanswered. I am really disappointed at their lack of response and this has tainted my perception of their customer service. read more

This bakery was the cutest. They are most known for the purple cake and it was perfect. It's ube flavor and has coconut in it. It isn't sweet but it's savory! Absolutely my favorite cake going forward. The shop is a cute little bakery and the employees are very helpful. The parking is street parking and it is easy to find parking here read more
The BEST cupcake spot in Lakeview, and they are even open late!! So far I have tried the german chocolate and tiramisu cupcakes. The chocolates are RICH so prepare to have milk when you enjoy it, but oh so tasty!! They are also super generously topped/iced. The staff are super patient and helpful, even at all hours of the night! I recommend visiting as this is totally a business you can feel great about supporting! read more
I didn't get to experience the full Jennivee's Bakery experience of seeing the actual shop because a sweet friend brought me a slice of cake to try - but I had to still give this experience 5 stars! I got to try a slice of the Ube Purple Velvet Cake and it was delicious. The cake was very moist and the overall flavor was the perfect level sweetness with an actual ube taste which I feel like can be difficult to do. The cake to cream ratio is perfect too! I hope I can go back and try other things soon! read more
Picked up a cake, cupcakes, and some bars for my boyfriend's 30th birthday because he LOVES anything ube. My online search led me to a few places, but I decided to go with Jennifer's because of the consistently high reviews! Things to keep in mind-- I had to drive all of the goods 4+ hours to the final destination! Let's start with the cake! I was debating on whether or not I should pre order but decided not to since I wasn't sure what time i was going to get out of work. I didn't want to place an order and not be able to pick it up. With that said, I was heading to the store anticipating that I would just get cupcakes and whatever other baked goods they have. Turns out, they do have whole cakes available on a first come first serve basis. I picked up their classic purple velvet cake. The cake is 6in in diameter but it is VERY tall, so this was the perfect amount of cake for probably 10-12 generous servings. I loved that the cake had young coconut filling, which added an unexpected texture. The frosting was also delicious! For the cupcakes, I got the following flavors-- Dark tiramisu, cookies and cream, mango cream, white chocolate matcha. My favorite was definitely the cookies and cream and dark tiramisu. I am a huge chocolate fan, so this probably explains a lot. I loved how the cake was quite fudgey, dense, moist, and rich. It wasn't overly sweet, and the top of each cup cake provided the perfect amount of sweetness. I personally did not enjoy the matcha or mango cream cupcakes as much. The cake part did not feel as moist and was more crumbly. The flavors were still delicious, I just gravitate more toward the chocolate flavors! Last but not least, I opted to pick up 2 coconut ube bars. I am incredibly impressed by these, and I really wish I got more! They are buttery with a great burst of toasted coconut flavor on top of this densely packed ube bar. I personally love coconut, so I really enjoyed the toasted coconut on top of the bar. The bar is generously sized, would recommend sharing if you want to sample a bunch of things! All of my items survived the car ride and everything tasted fantastic! IT'S SOOOOO GOOOOOD!!!! That's how many captions and exclamation marks I received from my colleague after sending them a cake for their work anniversary. I ordered the Tres Leche cake, which is a vanilla chiffon cake, soaked in three different kinds of milk and topped with vanilla mousse and berries. The online order was super-easy and when I got a call from the delivery person letting me know that they were about to hand over the cake... Well done, Jennivee! read more

My favorite cupcake place was already closed for the day. Since I reached new decade, I had to find myself a sweet treat. Since Yelpers mentioned Jennivee's sometimes closes early, we tried calling, but their phone system keeps routing you to random automated messages. I think as a small business, you could make an effort to personally answer the phone or at least give your customers an option to speak to a human at 8:30 pm on a Tuesday. We took a chance and did a drive by. At first, they looked closed, but we noticed a customer was in the store. Parking was impossible since the Cubs were playing at Wrigley. My daughter went in and sent me photos. Went in intending on buying 4 and left with 6. When we got home, I ate the Mango. The frosting was so light and fluffy. I wish the cupcake had more mango flavor. I appreciated how it wasn't overly sweet. The cake was a bit on the dry side, but not terrible. My daughter ate the cookies n creme. She enjoyed the Hershey kiss on top. She said the white chocolate mousse/frosting was light and fluffy. She enjoyed the bits of cookie in the cake. Service was great, they were friendly! I'm sure the remaining 4 will disappear before tomorrow night. read more

Ordered cupcakes for a party and what a big hit! Picked 4 different flavors and one worker was extremely kind enough to give a tiny sample of a couple. Everything tasted heavenly that it was honestly hard to narrow it down to 4 flavors. The shop itself is adorable and smelled amazing as soon as you walked in. Service was great and everyone I dealt with was helpful and personable. The quality of the cupcakes were out of this world that the price is 100% worth it. After tasting a tiny piece of each, I say the mango cream was #1, then chocolate tres leches, strawberries and cream, and French silk. I had a party of 16 and 90% of the group voted for the mango cream. It wasn't too sweet, light, moist, and tasted divine. Ordering a variety of cupcakes for a party was also a great idea because everyone was engaged and talking about their favorite and why. Love this bakery! read more

Does the new location have parking?
There is no "official" parking, but there is good street parking right in front. I have never had a problem finding a parking space. That said, you will have to pay for the parking with the Chicago Parking app.
Are they open for dine-in?
yes and no. They do have a little seating area you can eat your cakes. During warmer days they also have a patio set up outside. Their cakes do taste exponentially better if you give it a few minutes to rest to room temp, so I recommend taking it to…

Cash is king so I think, if not, I'm sure they will accept your cash. Whether they will have change or not is the question haha. So better bring exact change or tip your change :)
