The most pleasant car buying experience we've ever had!…read more We found T & A Auto Sales through Car Gurus after seeing a listing for a "great deal". When we arrived, we were quickly welcomed by the shop's owner and only employee, TJ. He told us about the history of the car and disclosed that the radio wasn't working right off the bat. He let us know that he wouldn't sell the car before fixing the issue and that he was already in the process. He shut down the shop to take us out for a test drive and not once did we feel pressured to purchase the car. When we asked if we could take the car to a mechanic, he offered to take it for us (requiring him again to shut down the shop). After our mechanic assured us that the car was in great shape and TJ worked out the radio, we let him know we were interested in purchasing the car. He happily held on to the car for us despite multiple other offers and worked with our schedule as we are not from the Hayward area. Although TJ was not willing to negotiate the price of the car, we agreed that it was already priced in a great position and appreciated that he was open and honest about fixing the radio. After we purchased the car, we realized there was an issue with the new radio and contacted TJ immediately. He apologized sincerely and helped us fix it, even though our contact listed the car as is. We got to know TJ fairly well throughout our car buying experience and would recommend his business to anyone looking to purchase a used vehicle. He is kind, honest, and a great businessman to work with.

Consumer Warning Regarding My Family's Experience…read more DO NOT! I repeat do not do business here!!!! They are a scam and hungry to screw over hard working people!! P I am sharing this review to inform potential customers about a very concerning experience involving a close relative. My relative visited this dealership after seeing advertisements stating that customers could put $1,000 down and drive away in a vehicle. Based on those representations, my relative provided the owner, Hossain, with a $1,000 down payment. The owner handed my relative the keys to the vehicle and instructed him to drive the vehicle home, stating that the remaining paperwork and additional payment could be completed later. No sales contract, financing agreement, or other ownership documents were provided at that time. After my relative had taken possession of the vehicle at the owner's direction, the owner later claimed that he had never sold the vehicle and allegedly suggested that my relative had unlawfully taken it, despite having personally accepted the $1,000 payment and voluntarily providing the keys. Based on this experience, I strongly encourage prospective customers to exercise extreme caution before conducting business with this dealership. Never leave the premises without receiving and reviewing all required purchase or financing documents, a signed sales contract, and written proof of the terms of the transaction. If a dealer requests payment without providing proper documentation, consumers should carefully consider whether to proceed and may wish to seek independent legal advice before completing any transaction. This review reflects our family's experience and is shared to encourage transparency and help other consumers make informed decisions.

First off, I was very happy with how smooth and quick everything went. I got to the dealer at 3:30, looked at the car, test drove it, and left with it by 5:30. Second, I was pleased with his transparency. He was honest about the flaws he was aware of with the car and admitted that there were some things he didn't know (it's a 25-year-old car). Lastly, I appreciated his patience. I didn't feel pressured at all, and he answered all my questions and let me check the car at my own pace.

I also got another inspection at Honda since I know someone who works there, and he said that the power steering reservoir had to be replaced since the wheel had resistance when turning... this all would have costed 2k+ in repairs. I decided to cut my losses and return the car. Wouldn't recommend this dealer as he doesn't seem to care about the maintenance at all. Also, the gas was empty when I got there. His breath also stinks.

Reviewed the total price for the sale, the doc and selling fees added to the deal were fair and reasonable. The paper work was a breeze, although I was a cash buyer, so I cannot speak to the finance options. He did make me aware of the warranty options a few times but understood my desire not to purchase. In the end he helped with my two car logistics so I could get my new car were it needed to be. The thing that stood out the most about Cal West was their cars. My car was exceptional, low mileage, one owner, dealer serviced its entire life. As I looked at their inventory I saw the care they took in selecting their inventory. I did not see any cars on the lot that would be an automatic not buy. Quite the opposite everything I saw had strong consumer ratings no matter how old. Your mileage may vary but as someone in the business I would rate this independent used car business as way better than average. The fact that they have been in business for 45 years certainly says something about their ethics and business practices.
