I'm an online retailer, not just a regular customer. Using Jeffers as a supplier was a horrible experience. They claim they do drop shipping, so I had a pet toy sent to a friend as a test. I followed their instructions for requesting a drop ship (adding it in the comments of the order). The order status in my account showed Shipped, but she never got it, so I called. He assured me it had been shipped but couldn't give me a tracking number. Then contacted me about a week later to ask if she had received it yet. Turns out it had never been shipped in the first place.. Finally a month after my original order, they shipped it, but when she received it, instead of being addressed to her, it was her address but my name. Sheesh. Good thing this wasn't a real drop ship order. I also did a test sent to me and ordered a rubber toy that came in various colors, but their page did not let you pick. I called and asked if I could order a specific color. They sent someone to check in the warehouse and told me that, yes, that had that color in stock and I should just put my color choice in the comments of my order. But when I received it, it was a different color. Also, for the solid rubber balls, one particular color had a very strong chemical odor; the other colors did not. It isn't something I would feel safe giving to my dog. Also, what they claim as wholesale prices for resellers are barely cheaper than the prices they offer the public.The rubber ball I ordered at 'wholesale' cost was 27 cents cheaper than anyone could have gotten it for on their website. But their SEO is so bad that not that many people know about their website, so you could probably get away with ordering something from them and reselling it since their normal prices are very low to start with. They are probably fine as a supplier if you have a simple item sent to you so you know if it was received and was correct. But do NOT trust them to drop ship to a customer for you. They are also probably fine if you're just a regular customer buying for yourself. read more

I initially ordered a vaccine kit for next day air. It came 2 days late. But as a first timer in giving vaccines I prepared them wrong. I contacted Ms Renee Jones and she helped me tremendously. She was caring and showed real interest in making sure I received what I needed so my puppy would not have problems. I will never order from this company again. I ordered a fleece cooler that was supposed to come with a fleece halter. It was on back order. I called them and told it would be here in the next week. The week came and went made the phone call again and was told the same thing again. Still to this day waiting for the fleece lined halter. I called and was told it was the manufacturer that is behind on it and will be a while. I placed this order on Jan 26,2018 and I am still waiting for the halter. Their customer service was very rude and not helpful. They will be getting a phone call once more and see how it goes. I will not recommend this company to anyone. read more

We recently ordered several items from Jeffers in anticipation of two tiny rescue adoption puppies arriving. When we opened the warming pad and read the instructions on the box we discovered the pad we ordered was too large. When being used in a kennel the pad must only cover half the space. This was not on the website or given when I discussed various pads with a telephone rep before placing the order. I called and after much discussion about sizes and instructions I was overnight mailed a new pad which our puppies LOVE. I will continue to order from Jeffers and highly recommend them! I went there to get my dog a collar and they cannot even accommodate large breeds. I then went a second time to get a pet odor eliminator and the customer service was very hateful. I recently placed a first time order with Jeffers. Going through their website I was pleased with the selections and prices. I found a dog carrier and sweater, both of which I have been searching for some time. I needed a sweater that covers the front legs which are hard to find and a carrier to fit a longer, small dog. I received my order, the carrier works perfectly and the sweater was great other than I need a larger size. Called Jeffers, told them I need to exchange and they emailed the info to do so. I have been a customer for nearly 30 yrs, and I have been satisfied. However, I have seen their service slide downhill, and my recent dealing with them caused me to post this review. I had ordered, and several things were on back-order...I very plainly told them to ship as soon as they came in-which I was told would be a few days later on one item, and longer for another. I did not receive the item, so I called and was told they would ship it the next day. I did not receive it, so I called today. It had been in for over 2 weeks, but they waited. Not only did the customer service tell an OUTRIGHT LIE to me, they have caused me a great inconvenience because of their not shipping the item. If I had known that this would happen, I would have purchased the item from a competitor and not have the aggravation of catching calves and figuring which cow they were out of. (I had ordered eartags and all the calves were born AFTER the date they had promised) I had the customer service rep I spoke to today note that any back order was to be shipped IMMEDIATELY when it arrived....I had a similar experience in a previous order and canceled after several months of waiting. I hope they look into retraining their service reps or, if the problem is due to company regulations, change them. They are not the company that they use to be. read more

IF I could I give a big fat (0) I been ordering from Jeffers for years and they send out a new catalog ever 3 months as they change their prices to increase that often. I give the extra catalogs to other people to order with them NEVER again. I place a order which usually comes next day as I live in state of Alabama this is twice they have forgot to send my order after the 3 day I call where is my order they start checking and never released it to be shipped they over charge on most all their products when I called that even to let them know my order had not come all I could hear in the background noise was laughter !!!! Love this supplier! They have just about everything for my cats, dogs and horses. I have used them for over 25 yrs and rarely, if ever, disappointed. Decades ago, a lipizzan horse breeding farm had a horrible fire; they lost several of their best breeding horses and the rest were left with severe burns. Word has it that Jeffers DONATED medications and bandaging materials to the farm to help out. read more

I just got off the phone asking customer support to honor their advertised 'guaranteed best price' by matching an eBay post by ''Vets Medicines for Less'' who offered the same product for approximately $10.00 less. They claimed that they could not match that price without adding their 'freight' charge of $14.00. I have received the Jeffers catalog for many years and spent 1/2 an hour on the phone trying to be loyal and buy through them instead. Ordered 2 hay nets from them in November and i was sent no notification on shipping by mid December, so i called their customer service and they told me they were back ordered until FEB. They gave no notification of being back ordered when they took my order, or any notification of it via email after I ordered. What a horrible way to run a business: To not even notify the customers who have orders with them that the products will be back ordered for several months! According to the website the company offers free shipping to the continental USA, which officially includes Alaska. After ordering online I got a one line email: VIA POSTAL IS 27.40 PROCEED? I then replied by explaining the continental USA which includes Alaska (vs. contiguous, which only include the connecting US), after which I get another email, which basically misquotes what I wrote and then says (in other words) take it or leave it... I am very surprised at some of the low ratings here...I have been a customer of Jeffer's for well over 25 yrs. I used to order by phone and when they went online I've ordered that way since. I have never once been disappointed with any products or customer service in all of those years. Their prices are always always lower than "pet stores" to the point I refuse to shop at any of them because I'm always disappointed in customer service, lack of knowledge and of course...pricing! I have purchased everything under the the sun from them...toys, treats, collars, beds, medicine...you name it I've bought it from them...One Christmas years ago...I forgot the in the confusion to purchase puppy presents and at the last minute put in an order that I wasn't sure would be delivered on time even with expedited delivery...it was with a day to spare...this last Christmas I needed 2 toys of the same color and I know that color is not a choice with this particular item...I asked knowing it might not happen and when I opened the box there they were!! I paid extra for 2 day shipping, 5 days later my vaccine finally arrived. Ice was completely melted, vaccine was ruined. My antibiotics were apparently back ordered but no one informed me of this. Jeffers Pet & Equine does a *HUGE* mail order business! They USED TOhave absolutely the LOWEST PRICES, but I have notice the prices creep up lately. They are very thorough in carrying all products at the lowest price and did I say they can carry a BIG VARIETY of other vendors. They are very much like the beloved PetEdge (who cannot love them as a dog person) however they are not as selective about vendors to work with- they carry just about every line you can THINK of at cut rate prices if they can get them! The customer service is excellent. Their delivery is super fast too, at least to the NorthEast. It's the ONLY shop that cares enough to carry my Puralube (recently hyped up in price by nearly $1 per tiny tube) and Smoked Sows Ears - YUM! (Heheheh, both for my pup.) I've had nothing but an amazingly great experience for over a year now. They carry the upscale Kyjen and Coleman toys for example, fancy puzzles as well as their own inexpensive line (just like Petedge). They also carry Multipet toys slthough they seem to start carrying copies of these toys which are lower quality and lover pices which my cannot stand up to even my small dog. However, I do really like that they carry all brands and hope it stays that way with grooming products. In fact, they are now overchargig for matt splitters, so I just don't know how much I can rely on them. BONUS: there is no minimum order. They are also available at Jefferspet.com. I think there is a Jeffersequine.com too for all the needs of your horse! Oh, and if you call they are as nice as can be. You can bet they will appreciate your purchase, business are struggling in Gulf Coast as well after Katrina and the BP Oil spill. Supporting small businesses in the region is key! read more

WHen up in Dothan every few months I stop in and stockpile. WHY? In Mobile, for a 16" rope chew, Walmart is $5.89, Petsmart is $8.50, Pet Supplies Plus is $8.99, and Jeffers is $2.47. End of story! Pooper scooper..SAME size and brand was $21.99 at Petsmart, and only $14.99 at Jeffers. And the dog scent spray was the biggest difference with a 16oz bottle for $5.99 vs others for a 4oz bottle for $4.99. Shipping is very, very slow (as long as 10 business days and I am only in N. Florida) when they use USPS for the smaller items and they are charging a "service fee" when processing orders that negates any savings. Customer service was not helpful at all. To sum up my experience with this company Terrible! I don't normally do reviews on companies and I'm clearly not a troller. What I am is a dissatisfied customer. I suppose on regular supplies they might be ok. I recently placed an order on vaccinations for my puppies along with an expedited 1-2 day shipping on the vaccines. They claim they are on back order. Yes, this is a drag but what really makes this Yelp worthy is no one contacted me or no automated message, no email, no apology, just an anticipated dates of arrival that they haven't been able to follow through with. I have located these @ other pet suppliers that can have them in my possession with in 1-2 days. I do not wish to mention these suppliers names to maintain the integrity of this review. It's been over a week still haven't gotten a call or a shipment. Every call I've made I get a empty promises on when I'll receive them. I guess this is what I get for trying them out instead of my regular vender that has been great to me just to save literally $2 dollars. Good Luck folks beware on ordering vaccines!!!
