I went to this clinic for a regular check up and for a new prescription. What I waited 3 weeks to get was a pair of thick, heavy, prism glasses which I did not want or ask for. Dr. Hornsby examined me. I told the woman that was supposed to assist me that they are not what I wanted, so she told me that they could substitute those with regular precription lens. All I had to do was wait until the replacement glasses came in and they would call me to bring in my own frames and the refit would take about an hour. Well, they did call me and they prepared the regular lens to fit my frame. When I sat down to try the glasses on, the same woman sat down accross from me and immediately accused me of cussing and told me that my conduct was not allowed in the store. I was totally shocked by her accusation and asked where that came from because I did not cuss at anyone at any time and she told me that 2 other employees heard me and told her. My wife was with me and she said I did not cuss at all. The woman then told me that the store has microphones and that she would listen to hear what I said. Well, she never got back to me on that and the new glasses are totally useless because when I put them on, everything was distorted and blurry. I told her that and she said that I just had to get used to them. Get used to them, have you ever had to get used to a pair of prescription glasses? I'm 87 years old and a retired, decorated U.S. Navy veteran and I have had dozens of prescription glasses in my life and never had to GET USED TO THEM. I also have never been treated so badly at any store in my entire life. The woman that said I was cussing and assisted me was very rude to say the least. She would not listen long enough for me to tell her what the problem was with the glasses. Now I'm out $533 and no glasses. I bought a pair of Walmart READERS for about $12 and can read and see better then what I got at this place. PLEASE, don't go to this store for anything. read more

Owner Michael Griffin and Lab manager (Ryan) have no compassion and are very rude, read why: We have a disabled senior dog that we have recently been taking with us to appointments since she cannot be left alone for long periods of time. Usually, my husband and I will take turns being in the car with her as the AC is running if we can find a shady spot to park. We could not find a shady parking spot at Dothan Optometric, therefore I asked the receptionist if we could take turns getting our eyes examined since my husband and I both had an appointment back-to-back. When I explained our situation, I was happy to hear from the receptionist that people come in all the time with their pets in strollers and that Dothan Optometric does not mind pets. Therefore, my husband and I came in with our pet stroller to get our eyes examined and to purchase lenses/new glasses. The whole time our senior dog is very quiet, and many people walk by saying, "Ah what a sweet girl!". While we were picking out new frames, a male employee (Lab manager who I believe is called Ryan), rushes up to me and says that we must leave immediately and that only service dogs are allowed according to their owner Michael Griffin. I was surprised and explained to this employee that the two receptionists when we checked in said it was fine to bring our dog inside in a stroller and had even offered this as an alternative. Although I understand that many businesses only accept service animals, why tell us that it is okay to come with our pet in a stroller and then later kick us out suddenly, especially with our quiet senior dog? To make matters worse, when I went to get the AC going in the car to cool things off to bring my senior dog back to the car (car was over 100 degrees in late May), suddenly this male employee approaches my husband and demands again that we must leave immediately. My husband explained to the employee that we had to get the AC going in the car first since it was over a hundred degrees in the car. This employee said it did not matter and that the owner Michael Griffin wanted us to still leave immediately! I was shocked by this behavior. You may not be an animal lover, but what kind of compassion does Michael Griffin and his lab manager Ryan have if they are asking us to leave immediately with our dog and to put her in an over hundred-degree car, especially after we were told initially, we could bring her in the office?! Even if they changed their mind based on a possible customer complaint, why force us to leave immediately and put our senior pet at risk for heat stroke? My husband and I have owned dogs our whole lives and have traveled with our pets everywhere (multiple states) and have never experienced such an uncompassionate, rude demand. Beware of giving business to people who behave like this. If they are this uncompassionate and rude to force us to put our dog back in an overheated car suddenly, what else may they be uncompassionate about?? read more

The absolute worst pair of glasses I have ever owned. I've had to tighten screws every week or the lens will fall out or arm will fall off. I returned them once because the lens was cut wrong. Then When I got them back they were still terrible. I have since moved from the area or else I would be back again to have them fixed. read more

Top notch - Dr. Griffin cares about his patients and I can tell he is doing everything he can to provide me the best care possible. The equipment in the office is state of the art and the space is beautiful and very comfortable.
