The check in process has been the worst I've ever seen. People that came in after us were seen before us. We love Dr. Denny. But the out front service is going to force me to find a new optometrist. Tried talking to office manager but they were not working today. One person left and at least two to three others weren't happy as well. Not only were they incorporated they were rude. I notice every thing. The wait was reasonable. Just come prepared. Don't come an hour early and loudly complain you've been waiting an hour and about to leave. Like really? Just leave. I don't mind waiting for quality and accuracy. The staff was professional and well coordinated. Each person knew exactly what he/she was suppose to do. Even with difficult patients the staff remained calm. No personal chatter or complaining behind the desk. Just smile more. I have been a patient since 1986 and still happy. As far as my eye exam experience, it was okay, nothing stellar. However, today was my second time dealing with the contact department. The first time, the woman who assisted me got my contacts wrong and I had to correct her. I assumed maybe she was having a bad day or upset about something so I just let it go. However, today I went to go get new contacts again. When I got to the contact department, there was a man ahead of me picking up contacts he ordered. There were two employees in there. Both of them were not friendly. They seemed like they were either high or hungover or just didn't care. After the man paid for his order he looked at the box and said " this isn't my name". The woman looked and, sure enough, she had given him the wrong contacts. And he was from a town 45 minutes away, per his comment. She finally found the right order. When it got to be my turn, I was assisted by the other employee and the other one left. I was made to feel like a bother and that my questions about types of contacts were annoying. I did get my contacts ordered but I left feeling completely drained of energy and feeling like an annoyance read more

Yes, they have a 1.5 rating on Yelp. I have used Denney Vision off and on for several visits and years. I have tried to find other care providers in the area. I returned to Denny Vision today. I had a scheduled appointment with Dr Ashley Bowers. I arrived right on time and was quickly called to the registration desk. Shamayla and Carla were great. Before I could fill out my medical history form, I was taken back for screening. Kimberly was excellent and did a great job with the screening portion. I didn't wait long before I was called back to see the doctor. Doctor Bowers was very thorough. After the exam I went to optical to select frames. JT assisted and completed the process. She is very sweet and efficient. This visit was nothing like my visits in the past. Perhaps the staff has fixed the issues from before. The merger may have had an impact. Based on my visit today, I would recommend Denney Vision. Great experience today. read more

My name is Ann and I'm 83 years old. About 10 months ago my son took me for an eye exam and I was told I needed new glasses. I could see fine with my old ones, but I agreed to the new set. My insurance copay was $105. The lady that fitted me for the new ones never smiled and said maybe 2 words the whole time. About 1-2 months later one of the lenses fell out so my son took them to be fixed. Under warranty he was still charged $35. They couldn't fix them and didn't have any more of the same frames that would accept the lens so I had to wait almost a week for them to make a new pair. About 2 months later the leg broke off the "new" glasses so I just put them aside and started wearing my 5+ year old glasses again. I didn't want to go back and have to wait all day to be fitted and charged another "warranty fee" for more cheaply made Chinese glasses that they probably paid $3 for. Next time I'll go elsewhere. Long wait times, rude staff and poor customer service here. If many others have this kind of experience you'll loose many more customers. Stay away from this place! I am a new employee with SAMC and have BC/BS; stopped by Human Resources to get proof of insurance en route to appointment. Called to make sure what I had would suffice; they said "we'll figure it out, come on in." Before filling out medical history and paperwork, I showed the clerk what I had to verify it would work (I had the group insurance numbers and dates written on the business card for the head of SAMC HR with instructions to call her if they had questions. My individual policy number had not yet been assigned by bc/bs.) The clerk said "yeah, that's fine, we'll figure it out." Ironic aside: tiniest print I have ever seen on any forms in my life. For a vision center. They have the equivalent of four pages minimized to fit on one. I need bifocals for a reason and that was some cray. When I turned in my forms they said they couldn't "back bill" and they couldn't see me until I had an official benefits card. Refused to call HR. I asked for a manager and she called someone in their billing department and replied that they couldn't see me; would I like to reschedule? Um, NO. They clearly don't need my business. I was covered by insurance: adding a number the following day is not the equivalent of back billing. They wasted all of my time they get. read more

I took my 90 year old mother in on a Monday for an eye exam and to have her fitted for new glasses. They are usually ready overnight. On Thursday morning when we still hadn't heard anything, I called and was directed to someone's voicemail. Same thing Thursday afternoon, Friday and today (Monday)...4 messages left and still no call back. I called and canceled the order today and will pick up her prescription and go elsewhere for her glasses. I don't know if they're just understaffed or incompetent. We are so done with DenneyVision! ***edited to add...it's been a month since going to DV and 3 weeks since canceling my mom's order. I was told that they don't refund via credit card and that she should receive a refund from Eye Center South via check by Friday. 3 Fridays have come and gone and I've left 2 messages to the refund person that have gone unanswered. That makes a total of 6 calls with 0 returned calls. Since I couldn't get a callback, I called the credit card company and disputed the charges since we never received any glasses. Horrible place to get glasses , I went in and filled paperwork out , They called me back and really not knowing what dilating would do to me , OHH that sucks ! I couldn't hardly see , Then they took pictures of my eyes and when I seen Dr Hornsby I was a little upset from the stuff they put in my eyes he told me sternly to act like a grown up ! Then he said to me am I wasting my time ! He was very rude !!! If my eyes would not have been all blurry I think I would have taught him a lesson !!!! He is very mouthy !! He did the eye exam I couldn't hardly see much and he prescribed coke bottle thick glasses which are not correct . My wife convinced me to get the glasses , Now I have a paper weight .. I, myself have had good luck with Denny Vision, until recently. Never have been impressed with them, as every time you go there is new paperwork, a waiting room full of people, and you get shuffled from staff member to staff member. Now my son has contacts and EVERY time we have to order THROUGH this place there is some issue. We are currently awaiting a new pair that SHOULD have been here five business days ago, and we were just told that they are on back order. Worst of all, WE HAD TO CALL(TWICE) TO GET THIS INFORMATION!! Almost seems like the customer has to beg or harass them to do what should be their job. read more

This is the worst place you can go to for vision care. It took them multiple tries to try and get my glasses prescription correct before I just gave up. I must have went there a total of ten different times in the span of about two months because of things they kept screwing up. In addition to that, most of the staff was rude. I will give them credit for having an excellent selection of frames, so it might be a good place to BUY glasses but I would definitely avoid getting a prescription here. read more

After expressing concern about the long wait time of over 2 hours for my diabetic husband, an employee stated they were short staff and under "new management". I went there for my yearly eye exam. I got there early and I ended up waiting for three hours to see the dr. Went to get my contacts and she said 3 to 4 days I should see them. About the third week I started calling. Talked to someone twice and then left several massages. No one got back to me. So now I paid for the contacts and never got them. I took my mother there for her appointment today. I had noticed a month ago the glasses that she had gotten a year ago had major flaws in the lenses. She has had a stroke and she has dizziness and blurred vision so she has to have prisms and crystals put in her lenses. The glasses that she got just over a year ago that had the flaws in the lenses she paid out of pocket over $500 when she went for her appointment I showed the glasses to the assistant and she said yes that was a major flaw and then shared them to the Doctor Who also said they would take care of the issue that the lenses were separating because my mother had to have a lien's that darkened in the sun. She also said that they would take care of this it would be no problem due to the fact that this could have made my mother's vision worse over the past year. My mother did not know when she got the glasses it was a flaw she thought they were supposed to be in the lenses because of the crystals that she had to have. When we got to the assistant who was supposed to help us replace the lenses she said that it would cost $250 out-of-pocket to correct this. I told her my mother paid over $500 for the glasses and that this was a defect on their part and this was not fare. She said no she did not pay $500 for the glasses she only paid 250. She said there wasn't nothing they can do for that because my mother did not notify them right away. When we went to pay my mothers co-pay for the exam asked for our past payments and upon looking my mother had indeed paid over $500 for just the glasses. They are so unprofessional they look at each person as just a number and a $$$$ sign so many customers come in and out. I asked for her prescription and took her next-door to eye care Associates when they heard what was going on they immediately took care of my mother took care of her prescription and her glasses and were so apologetic for the service and the way that she got treated. Do not go to this place they are rude. Also I care associates do you have the job for $100 less than what Denny vision wanted. Also the so-called security guard who was inside and look to be only maybe 25 heard me talking to the assistant and telling them no we were not going to pay $250 and I would be contacting someone in charge started standing behind me and behind my mother like he was going to do something. Denney vision is a pretty neat spot. The registration clerk and optometrist were amazing it was the lady who pre oped my eyes for the Dr was not so nice. She dialated my eyes roughly pulling my eye open and getting eye drops in my hair from me pulling away from her hand yanking on my eye. She shouldn't have come into work if she planned to be so careless. Thank GOD I was greeted by a beautiful spirited Dr. He was a medium sized caucasian male with white hair he talked to me and even wished me the best for my career. Ill be back next year as I enjoyed the treatment from the one who mattered the most. I did have a 2:30 appt and didn't get seen until 3:20 but its ok the nicest Dr was worth the wait. read more

Dr.Denney was wonderful as usual he took us out to pick out frames and told the girl to give us time cause 8t was late she rushed hannah and never once did she put the frames on her face to see if they were going to fit properly we had to go back the next day to pick up and no they dont fit so i am out of my hard earned money for something that she can't wear so yes I am very unhappy with the service we live in eufaula and its very hard to make all them trips. read more

I was very shockd to say the least .. Me and. My Mom went to get our eyes done . well mom had Medicare. I myself am on full disability and have Medicaid ... . As we were leaving. The lady told my mom her glasses would be ready after lunch .. Well I'm assuming mine be same. Oh No No No .. I bout fell to the floor when she said. It would be 3 weeks for mine to be ready .. . ok keep n mind the day before the 3 weeks was up glasses finally came n. . Oh I also called the Friday before glasses finally came n . and askd if my glasses was ready. .. When I called and asked. the first thing that the man askd was what kind of insurance. . ? Due to a change in insurance we needed to switch to a provider in-network. Dr. Denney did not thoroughly check my son's eyes. When I noticed that his prescription was completely different than the previous year, I called and had to leave a message with a promise of a return call within 24 hours. I gave them 48 hours and still did not receive a phone call. I had to drive 35 minutes up there to get someone to talk to me. It was a horrible experience! I could not imagine what might have happened had I not noticed they did not even run tests for prism in my son's glasses. It would have led to many complications in my son's vision, including migraines. I would not recommend changing your vision to these people. Another Dr did recheck my son and verified the prism, and stated the prescription verbally to me. When leaving the facility I noticed that the printed out prescription was incorrect and had to go yet another time to get the prescription fixed. BEWARE!!! read more

I was sold a more expensive lens than my prescription could be used in; I was called and informed of this the next day and told I would get a refund; I asked how much and the amount seemed unreasonable; when they rechecked, they said the computer program caused the refund amount to be wrong and was then given the correct amount for the refund and told I would get a check in the mail. Three weeks later I called to ask about my refund and was informed "It is our policy to hold all overpayments until we see if medicare will pay for the medical part of your exam" ??? Is this the kind of business policies that YOU want to be subjected to??? ONE that lays claim (for any amount of time OR for any reason) to money that a sales person tricks you out of paying MORE than what you should have been charged in the first place?? BEWARE, they will try to sell you "HI-INDEX" lens EVEN IF YOUR SCRIP CAN'T be applied to it. and then blame the computer program if your refund is wrong AND then find a way to put a lien on your overpayment! Great visit!! The Drs and other help were very friendly and helpful. They have a huge selection of frames to choose from at excellent prices. I ended up getting contacts as well and the staff did a great job of working with me to be able to put them in and take them out of my eyes. I would definitely recommend Denny Vision!! read more

i will never be back to this place. The level of incompetence is higher than anything I've ever seen. To begin with, we found out that they installed the incorrect strength lens in my sons glasses, which he wore for 3 months. They tried to make it right by installing new lens after we had to get another prescription by giving us a pair of new glasses and lens. We had plans of using them again on down the road. Well, today we found out that the new glasses they gave him had the incorrect lens AGAIN! My son was suppose to be out of his glasses in 6 months from now. Lost my glasses so I needed some in a hurry. Friends recommended Denny Vision in Dothan. I arrived as they opened and as I walked in I was a bit confused as where to look for men's frames as I already had a prescription in hand. Not one employee even acknowledged me and my wife walking in so I walked about aimless. Decided to try to speak to someone at the check-in desk. After she stopped yawning she just kind of looked at me. No good morning or nothing. I explained my situation and she instructed me to fill out paperwork of course. She then told me she would run my insurance and let me know. Again I walked about with no help from any employees at all. I saw and employee named Melissa? who I asked where all the frames for men where but did she get up to assist or show me around? Nope had to hold the chair down. Employees should welcome customers and offer to show them around if they are un-familiar with the store. Maybe show them what specials are going on if any. At least show where the frames are and how they are priced. The entire transaction was "just get this guy's money" The employees definitely need some customer service training ASAP.
