I went in there a few weeks ago because they are the only place that has live rats for my snake. I walked in and was pleasantly surprised that the business was under new management. The place didn't smell like death as it did previously, and they cleaned and rearranged the whole store making it open and welcoming. The owner was super helpful and was happy to help me get the rat. I also called today to make sure they had some rats and a sweet lady answered the phone with kindness and was respectful ( not like the previous owners). Great job for cleaning the place up. In the last 6 years of living in Dothan we have entered this shop twice. First time was 2018. They had Boston Terrier pups for sale priced over 1000.00. They kept in a locked area and we're told we couldn't hold one unless we intended to buy. No sale of course. Apparently we forgot about our bad experience there before and this time we're told the same thing. Of course the place smelled the same too. read more

Went there today to buy hamster supplies . Walked around 20 min looked at all the pets & puppies was not asked did i need help the two men employees were both eating in a side office i asked about the puppies because i was interested & they said the breed & continued eating . Grabbed the hamster items i needed & sat at the register for 15 min waiting to be checked out & ended up leaving . They never came out to greet me or the 3 others that came in during the time i was there . Theres a severely stressed out McCaw parrot sickly & missing a lot of feathers poorly tended enclosures , non present employees . Its bad business . If you only have 2 employees you trade out lunches so 1 stays out to help customers . Do not recommend . read more

The owner or whoever does the training of the workers, are stupid and do not do their research. You don't house 2 djungarian hamsters (dwarf) together. And making you buy 2? You got to be kidding me. Might as well but from Pestmart than this place read more

This is the most disgusting place I have ever seen. As soon as I walked in, the stench was almost unbearable and the sound of screaming puppies and birds filled the entire store. The fish tanks had so much mold and algae that it either looked like there were pompoms at the bottom or you couldn't even see into the tanks at all. If that wasn't the case, they were filled maybe a third of the way with water. The other animal cages were over stocked or filled with waste. There was barely any food other than a small pile that had been thrown in the corner. Barely any of the water dishes/bottles had water in them. Many of the cages didn't have tops and I was sure the animals there were diseased. The puppies looked absolutely miserable and they were put at prices over a thousand dollars. I wouldn't recommend this store to anyone. read more

Walked in and right back out, tanks were disgustin, dead fish and frogs overgrown with algae and who knows what else, I'd be afraid to introduce anything form here into any tank I have, made me kinda sad tbh read more

My daughter and I stopped by today to waste some time before an appointment. Wow. This place has really gone down hill. It has been a long time since I had been to the store, so I thought I'd let my kiddo see the animals. Those poor little souls. :( The fish tanks are absolutely DISGUSTING. Fuzzy mold-like stuff is growing in most of the tanks. There were several dead fish in with the live fish, too. The tanks were so cloudy with algae. The birds seemed very stressed out. & those poor puppies!! There were 4 kennels that had pups in them. The first kennel had 2 poodle looking pups, one didn't move and the other got up and hid in the corner of the kennel. The next kennel had 2 poodle looking pups, too, they didn't move at all...didn't even lift their heads. The third kennel had 2 pugs that were pretty active. The fourth kennel had 1 pug that didn't move, either. Those poor babies were so out of it. Also, I guess they were having AC issues.. it was SO hot in the store. They at least did have a fan blowing on the puppies. My daughter is STILL asking about the animals and if we can go back to rescue them. My heart absolutely hurts for these animals. They do not deserve to live like this. read more

Awful place. Smells awful when you go in. The people there act like they don't care about their jobs. Go in asking about stuff on the sign and they have no clue or have little information and won't look for answer for you. Completely lazy and rude. read more

Ok, so me and my cousin wanted something to do for a few minutes , so we stopped in to 1 look around and 2 because we like looking at stuff for guinea pigs because I have two. They asked if we needed anything and we said no we were just looking and they acted rude and were sayin they need to puta sign saying only paying customers allowed which we would've been but will not be!!! WOULD NOT VOTE BEST PET STORE IN ANY TOWN!!! read more

I don't see why everyone is complaining about this place, I've come to this pet store since I was only 7-8 years old and my appearance at this place had been nothing but positive, the employees are very nice and actually know quite a bit unlike what the other reviews have to say. every fish I have bought from them has lived much longer than the ones from Walmart and PetSmart plus they have a wider variety of fish to pick from than PetSmart and every time I visit this place for fish food, new pets, etc the elder woman who works at the register is always very kind whenever i go, either I'm luckier than the other customers who went here or the other customers did something stupid and lying about certain details, my experience shopping here has been nothing but positive , every visit was amazing. I'm older than i was before but my experience being positive still hasn't changed, hope this place stays in business for a long time. read more

Do not go here to get your fish tank water tested! I went there over the weekend and had my water tested. The lady there told me my ph was 6.5 and that will kill your fish. So I did what she said and spent 20 dollars in ph up and a ph tester. When back the following week and again she told me water was 6.5! However I tested my water at home multiple times all with a 7.5 nearly perfect water. After I told her to retest it and showed her proof of my test I took with a picture she left me to help someone else and ignored me. Never ever will I buy another thing from them. I went down to petsmart after calling them out on there old faulty test and was helped well and got all the fish I needed,and guess what there just as healthy as can be in that 6.5 ph water. Haha guess somebody needs a new tester! read more

My favorite pet store. Lots of exotic animals and the owner is very friendly. I would highly recommend supporting this business as it is a locally owned store. Went to check out the puppies we saw posted on the sign. We walked in and were the only customers, yet the two staff members on Sunday didn't even acknowledge our presence. The place smelled terrible (i know it's a pet store but it was far worse than any other pet store I've been to). The ridiculously priced puppy mill puppies were behind a locked counter so we couldn't play with them without asking. The two ladies were busy talking about why the new shipment of bunnies were sick. At that point we just wanted to get out of there. read more
