I originally came on Saturday to purchase work clothing for my husband, it turns out that he did not like two of the items. So today I went in just to exchange for something else. I stood in line right when I came in thinking I could just get store credit since I had my receipt, the nice cashier told me that if I returned it would go straight back to my card, but my card was compromised and I received a new one this morning, so I don't know how that would work with it going back to my card and it just seemed like a hassle so she told me to bring up the merchandise I wanted to exchange and I could pay the difference with cash or another form of payment. So after I shopped I went back to check out and I was being rung up by "Louise" I had two different exchanges on two different receipts so I knew they had to be done separately, so I wanted to to exchange the pants I bought for two pairs of pants and pay the difference, but Louise told me that they couldn't do that because it's there "policy" and continued to ring everything up together. I told her I want to to rexchange my pants for two pairs, and on the other receipt I was exchanging my shirt for two different shirts. She still continued to talk over me, saying she can't do that, which I don't understand why because she is doing it for this transaction it's the same for my other receipt, and then I told her I wanted a manager and still continued to talk over me and make a scene saying that she isn't a doormat. I told her I don't want her helping me, so she dumped the clothes that she had rang up on the counter and said she didn't want to help us either. That's fine I told her I want a manager, and instead she just kept insisting on arguing and even got another customer involved. This lady Louise is old and just set in her ways, she just wouldn't listen and hear what the customer is trying to say. Maybe if she understood what I was asking it wouldn't have escalated like it did, but she was "right". So when the supervisor Anthony came over she was trying to explain to him her side and brought that customer that had nothing to do with anything into it, and just wouldn't leave so we could talk to him. To me, he seemed one sided towards her because she is his associate and basically didn't care what we had to say. My mother told him that she just purchased 6000 worth of applicances for her new home and she spends good money at jcpenney, and she should be treated with respect and valued as a customer and he said " it doesn't matter how much you spend here" I was shocked and just ready to leave. These people do not care about their customers and are very rude. I will never step foot in this jcpenney again. read more

Was here yesterday doing some shopping. Seriously, the only salespeople I could find to help were two young guys in the shoe department! It was one of the most frustrating experiences I've ever had. Why should I go here when I can get way better service somewhere else! read more

The worst and the best service today! The lines were ridiculously long which I noticed when I first walked in but decided to go for it anyway. I walked around by the fitting rooms several times searching for an employee as I needed someone to reach something for me that was hung up high. NO employee anywhere. So, I went to the front of the line and asked the cashier who blow me off saying "there are many associates". So, I went to the Sephora section where everyone was super helpful especially the cashier gentleman with the diamond stud earrings who offered to reach the top that I wanted and took me to the front of the line to buy the clothes as there were no price tags so he could not check me out. However, when he walked me up to the cash register so I would not have to wait in another line the cash register person refused to let me in the front. Therefore, I dropped all my stuff and left. I will go back to Sephora but will never be tempted to stop in the Penny's part! Bye, bye Penny's. I much prefer Nordstrom's Rack or Target! read more

The clothing selection is very sparse, they have plenty of unsightly items but the nicer clothing racks are usually almost empty or there are not enough size selections. The reason I'm giving four stars is because they have a very nice well stocked sephora inside with very nice and knowledgable staff. read more

The store itself is fine although not a huge selection of clothes. Some of the staff on the other hand are very unprofessional they're dressed as if they're going to a cheap club and tend to be overly friendly with men that work there wether they are married or not. Being in higher management they should be more professional and watch their actions. read more

I am reviewing the salon in this store - I would rate the salon 5 stars. But the store service and lines made the stars a 4. I have had a same hair stylist in the San Fernando Valley since I was 14 and lived out there. I have lived out here in the IE for 9 years now and made the drive every few months to get my hair done. Needless to say the drives got longer and so did my roots. So while shopping in the store one day I stopped by the salon for pricing and to meet someone. Nicole greeted me and let me know pricing for touching up my highlights and a trim. I must say I always thought that they would be way overpriced, and thy aren't they are very reasonable. I made an a appointment and went had had my hair done yesterday. Nicole followed the highlights I currently have, she cut just the amount I asked off my hair and I am so happy and thankful. I totally recommend this salon and I am so glad I decided to give someone else a try with my hair. read more

Ridiculous! One line for check out for the entire store during the Christmas holidays? I made an online purchase and needed to return some of the items that didn't fit (sizing was WAY off on the Worthington items). There were over 50 people in one long line waiting to check out. We looked like cattle in line for the slaughterhouse! I called the store while I was waiting in line and spoke to HR. She said that she would come out and see if there was a need to open another check stand. I won't be back to their store, and I won't be doing any more online shopping with JC Penny. I'm not going to pay postage to return things or stand in their cattle call lines again. I'm done! read more

After a series of transactions with the corporate office I will no longer be shopping with JCpenney. I had an ongoing problem where I ordered products and hadn't received them since I placed the order in November. Come to find out the order somehow never made the delivery truck. I found this out by calling several times speaking to several people (corporate office included) and intended to put in another order for the same products despite this previous problem and inconvenience. At this time they tell me they were out of stock for 2/3 of the products I ordered. To shorten things up a bit I was finally given a few reward credits and an apology for this situation. Within two months of figuring what I wanted to purchase with these rewards (that were in stock) I was unable to use them because they were "expired" which I unaware of. So I call corporate again and they were quick to write me off stating there was nothing they can do with an attitude at the end at that. Apparently they got what they wanted and that's all they were worried about. "The customer is always right" or "customer satisfaction" is not a concern to them so I recommend everyone shop elsewhere. read more

I have shopped in this store few times over the last five years, and I am sorry to say that neither the people at cash registers nor those who work in any department show the mannerism required for their positions...rude is the best discription I can give...On some occasions, I have been cheated at the cash register by a rude, loud and tacky customer service rep who does not know anything about his/her job and the trust and duty it holds!!! read more

I am sorry to say that I am very disappointed in you customer service. I recently wend to your store to do my Christmas shopping early. (I don't do Black Friday, I rather pay more) First let me inform you, it is a 30 mile round trip on our California freeways. I generally combine an appointment in Redlands with shopping. Before I started to shop I checked in you house ware department and found the exact shade of bed cover I had been looking for for months. The helpful clerk suggested that she would locate someone to carry it out to the car for me, because I wanted to do some more shopping in the store and carrying it around to do that (I am 5 foot 110 pounds ) would make shopping impossible. But I was time constricted. By the time she would have located someone and walked way to the end of the the parking lot would not leave me enough time to shop. She said than that I qualify for home shipment. Perfect, we concluded the order. After a time I inquired about my purchase and was informed it was there ready for pickup, and I was told that even though it was your company's fault it was to complicated to send it to me, because the box was to big and you had to pay for the shipment. I suggested since it was a store item could you not just put it on the shelve and just order another one ? No way. Called customer service and was VERY RUDELY dismissed that they were only for order customers. No suggestion to were I could go to. She was highly snippy as if I just interrupted her coffee break. Would like to say that i recently went to this store on valentines day for some last minute wardrobe changes before a very important dinner date and i have to say the the customer service was absolutely fantastic.. Theresa is the BEST! I went to JCPenney out of desperation to keep my hair color cost down and fix several hundred dollars worth of bad blonde jobs. Theresa was very careful and came up with a solution that stopped the breakage and brought my hair color to a beautiful, natural blond. Over the years I've been to every salon in Riverside, a few in OC and several in Los Angeles. Theresa is one of the best stylist I've ever been too. We went in to JCPEnneys in REDLANDS today and got the Best service ever! We had never purchased a suit before so we asked for help. A woman named Gloria knew what she was doing and proceeded to help us get attire for a funeral. She went over and beyond the call of duty! We spoke with a manager who did not WANT to help , .One thing I must say, the dress code needs enforcement, its difficult to recognize employees from public due to sloppy dressers. read more

I went to the JCPenny Hair salon as recommended by my mother and sister. They both have had Foriba cut their hair and were really happy. She styled their hair great, and very close to the picture. My hair is longer and had layers. I went in for a trim of about 2 inches. I wanted layers again. Instead, my hair is 4 to 5 inches shorter, depending on which chunk you look at. There aren't any real layers, just parts are shorter than the rest. I cried as soon as I got home and looked in the mirror. Again, she's done a wonderful job for my mom and sister, but this is the worst haircut I have ever had. It doesn't look anything like the picture or anything I would have wanted. Now I have to wait for it to grow out before I can get it fixed by someone else, since I don't want it any shorter or choppier. Moral of the story: if you want a bob or shorter, she's the lady to do it. Don't come in if you want a haircut to go past your shoulder. read more

I was about to purchase about $300 worth of clothes. I go up front to pay (a bad set up). I approached the bank of registers on the right and was redirected to a long line (23 people, I counted, some were sitting) for the bank of registers on the left where there were three people working. I go back to the other side and asked why the right side was being shut down, the young employee stated "we don't have enough people to work the register." I told her I saw employees close down registers; she insisted there weren't enough people and she "was sorry." I told her I did not believe her about the number of people as there were plenty of employees working the floor. I sat the clothes down on the counter and left. I called the store to complain and was told by a supervisor I should not have been told what was told to me and she did not know why the registers were closed down. JC Penney stock has lost about 30% in the last 3 months. Any wonder? I urge people to not wait in stupid-long lines and leave the merchandise. Management needs some upgrades. BTW it was 7:15 pm, so I wasn't there just before closing. Reviewing the comments on Yelp, I know that mine is an experience shared by several others. read more
