We were looking for new jeans in the kids section and a really rude employee asked us to not unfold the jeans which we did not do they were already left like that and asked us to not touch any of the jeans so that we don't unfold them. This review goes to Tina at the Sephora inside JcPenny... Never have I received excellent customer service as I did from Tina today! I initially went in to refill on some of my favorite products and to get a sample of foundation. Instead, Tina gave me life! She analyzed my combo skin (that's been more on the dry side lately) and showed me skin care products that would help rehydrate my face. She was extremely knowledgeable on all the products and at one point even massaged moisturizer into my face. Name another Sephora employee who's ever done this before, I'll wait. But really, she's amazing! If you ever need any assistance ask for my girl Tina and you will not be disappointed! read more

I have had the most awful experience with the Custom Decorating Department. I have been waiting since APRIL to have curtains made and installed in my living room. Count it up -- That's eight months. 8 MONTHS!! I was given a wait time of three months. When four months had passed in August (and NO ONE called me to explain the hold up) I called them. They said they were waiting on fabric, because it kept coming in wrong from the supplier. I was told that it came in wrong 12 times. Really. And you didn't think you should call me to share that with me? Ok, Penneys. You order from a lousy supplier, and continue to wait on THEM. Five months, six months. Still no fabric; when I complained AGAIN, "well, you want us to install the one window covering that we have now?" Sure. The installer showed up with a different window than the one they said they were delivering. When the second window fabric STILL didn't come in correctly made after SIX MONTHS, they offered to re-make the curtains in a new fabric. One that I didn't plan on. One that I didn't choose the first time around. They had my money, so I had no choice. It wasn't until I got angry on the phone that the District Manager called to say how sorry she was. I was told that my order was a priority. TWO months ago we were a priority. If YOU order from them you will be in line behind me! I'm a priority. As I write this, I STILL DON"T HAVE MY CURTAINS!! I had planned to have these window coverings to keep the heat out in summer. Perhaps entertain by Thanksgiving? Christmas? Ground Hog's Day? By the way, although I have asked twice to have some financial compensation for this mess, nothing has been offered to me. As of now, I am still paying the ENTIRE price that I signed on the contract. I will never, ever, do business here again. In fairness, some of these issues were due to bad fabric. And I am giving them one star because I have two people who at least apologize. But nothing explains why I was never called to be told the truth of the situation to begin with, and I have never spoken to anyone higher than the district manager (and her only when I finally blew up on the phone last month.) And, it seems that no one intends to make this right with me financially. Please take your business elsewhere. Or get in line behind me. read more

I had to give them 1 star only because there was not a "YOU STINK" option. We purchased window coverings from them and our order was lost in the system. The product was finally delivered in its entirety the six weeks later we are still waiting for JCPenney's installation department to get back in touch with us. It's been about a week and we have yet to hear from them. Teresa was the service provider in the window coverings department and after she received the order has been absolutely no help in working with either Levolur, Bali or her own window installation department. JCPenney's is terrific and taking your money but don't count on them for any of the services that they tell you they can provide. read more

I went in looking for some shoes for work and Christian in the shoe department helped out a lot. He took the time to help me find some that were comfortable and stylish. You are lucky if they answer the phone. It will ring a few times, then a recorded voice says, "operator not available, goodbye". Or an operator will connect you to the department you want, and that department will never answer. Also, the lense dept. deleted my order on accident because they said their computer system crashed. No one called me to say my order was never actually placed. So after 2 weeks I called and that's when I heard the bad news. I have to come in and do everything all over again. The dressing rooms are stuck in 1976. No wonder JC Penny is nearly out of business. read more

I'm not a JCPenney shopper. Before yesterday, I only ever set foot in this store to walk through it to get to the mall. There's a lot of buzz going on around this department store lately though. Not just the TV ads and the circulars, but word of mouth. "Have you been to Penney's lately? It's totally different. Their clothes are cute!" And yeah, it is way different. Instead of feeling like a Mervyn's of yesteryear, it feels more like a Macy's but less made-in-China cheap feeling. Like Nordstrom, but a better price point (though the service doesn't hold a candle to Nordie's) It is worth coming to check it out if you haven't. The clothes have great style and felt well made with good fabric. The fashions seem more wearable than some of the styles that you see at Nordstrom which is very fashion forward. I feel like if I spent $20 on a pair of pants here, I can actually wear those pants for more than just a passing NY high fashion minute. I'm a huge Mango fan so the MNG section was a breath of fresh air. I'll definitely be back when my next paycheck hits! read more

We went to the JCP in Montclair and had THE BEST associates help us in the housewares department. Cynitha R. was off duty, yet she showed us around the store and lead us to items she believed we would love (and she was spot on!). She stayed a good 15 minutes even though she was literally walking out the door with her purse in hand, and it wasn't us that asked for help, she offered!!! Also, Shelba was great! She was checking around at another store for some things that we were looking for. She took special care and double wrapped the fragile items we bought. Staff didn't know where anything was (one employee said there was only one dressing room, another said there were four but the ones in men's didn't have mirrors, another shrugs and pointed out into the mall). Review for Window Treatment Dept. I purchased custom blinds and used their contracted measurement service. When I received the blinds, as instructed I contacted Joanne in the store to let her know so she could arrange the install. She once again took my phone number, email and address (even though I'd given it to them multiple times, but I digress). She said she was sending my info to the install company and I'd hear from them either that day or the next. Three days elapsed so I called back. Spoke to Joanne again who said she would take my info again and send. I asked for a phone number of the install company and she said they only deal with them "by computer." I asked for a manager and then Joanne came back with a phone number. I called that number and long story short, it was not the installer. But he gave me the installer's real number. I called and was told they never received info from JCP for my install and I would need to call them!! I told them they had submitted it twice and she repeated that they didn't have it. So I called Joanne back and told her. She just gave me her nervous giggle and I Informed her I was done with her and JCP and the supposed installer! Ugh! read more

Today I needed to buy for other rooms and just had to share pictures with her to thank her for making my living room look just like I wanted. She made me haggle her for a discount that she had already previously approved. They kept me at the counter while paying for over an hour. Ask for them to be ordered and shipped, get told that requires a card and they won't take the cash they literally just gave you as a refund.
