My wife tried to return an item with receipt, and was told it was not returned in time. She asked to speak to a Manager. The manager told her they changed policies since they are now owned by Simon Mall, What??? I had 18 years at JCPenney and even was GMM at this store. Now I remember why I left JCPenneys and sold all my stock. Don't waste your time shopping there, they are no longer the JCPenneys people use to love to shop. During this time of Covid thru have increased their cleaning regimen, distanced the stylists, and reduced the number of ppl allowed in the salon. There was a time that JC Penney was our first choice for buying clothes. It was one of the few national brands that was available in the Midwest. Now that I'm retired, I don't need "dress" clothes as often, but I wanted to pick up a nice short sleeved shirt for nights out with my wife when we go to upscale restaurants. Immediately, JCP came to mind. On this trip, the escalators to the second floor of the store were shut down, so I had to find the elevator to gain access to the Men's department. Once there, I noticed a couple employees processing some inventory in the checkout area. I looked and looked, but wasn't having finding short sleeved shirts; all I saw was long sleeved. So I asked and finally the gentleman took me over to one small section and pointed towards another section that seemed to only carry slim cut clothes (my slim days are passed.) I was a bit disappointed that they didn't have much in my size. Lots for guys either heavier or more muscular, but not much for me. Fortunately, I only needed one and made my purchase. They still ask if it will be on a Penney's card and if I wanted to sign up for a rewards program, but I would have liked to have had as much effort put into someone helping me find options. It just wasn't the same level of help I used to get in "the old days." I got a suitable (no pun intended) shirt for my purposes, but between the inconvenience of the equipment failures and the lack of inventory and eagerness, I can't say it was anything more than just "OK". We went to shop for a dress yesterday and the customer service is definitely lacking. The manager for the late afternoon was rude and employee who was by her(who lied when talking to the supervior). They either don't have children or grandkids because they seemed to have a disdain for them. If you don't like working with people or a certain people, I would suggest getting a job someplace else. I am shopping with my mother age 86 and going back and forth between the dressing room and "the racks" was going to wear my mother out. Well, Andrea went and found the clothes for my Mom and brought them to her in the fitting room. If I could give a zero for their online ordering I would. On Feb 17, I ordered a dress for a Baptism, order was to be delivered to the store by Mar 7. Went to the store on Mar 6 to see if it was in early and they told me it wasn't in yet (which was okay as they had one more day). When it still wasn't there on Mar 8, I called Customer Service. They said it was returned on Mar 1. I never got an e-mail or a call that it was in, never laid eyes or hands on the dress--on Mar 6 the store told me it wasn't in yet! Now time is tight for the Baptism, and I have to start over looking for a dress. I am beyond disgusted.... read more

We came in for portraits, and we are leaving w an experience. The Ladies were most helpful in deciding photo options. They were upfront and realistic w the expectations of an infant. The young lady walked us to what to expect w working w a child. She even provided helpful tips. After the backgrounds were selected, the Gal left for a few minutes to set up. Seriously it was less than 5 minutes which was great. King is a wonderful kid but he's only 3 months and moves a lot. The shoot was amazing. King behaved well and had fun. There were. Lot of great takes. First photos were a success. Pricing. Bri had coupon so that helped some. Bri wasn't sure how much they would cost. No research. We just knew JC Penny would be it. The final price was fair for 2 photo options. Bri was happy w the outcome and said she would bring King back for future photos. read more

greenwood mall. walked in looking for bra. my breathing is compromised, so wanted to get directly to department, so looking for assistance. could not find an employee or open register. ran across other customers having the same problem. started walking through the store calling out loudly asking for help, hoping someone would come. no one ever did. found register, and asked for manager. took almost 10 minutes for one to show up. she assured me there were employees in the departments, and we walked back through. they came out when she came through. uncertain where they were when we came through, or why no one responded when i was calling out for help, but i will never step foot in your store again. i understand why the company is in trouble. read more

One star due to the fact the women's restroom's sanitary dispenser was open and empty. And there wasn't a dispenser at all in the unisex bathroom. The women I talked to didn't even care. One said she's never had that problem in her life to deal with and walked out the door. Good for you. read more

Probably the worst pictures I have ever seen. especially from a portrait studio. People are not placed correctly. Framing is off. People are not well placed or balanced in the pics. There are black spots on the lens for close-ups! And Yes we had a lot of people in our session, But they were aware that there was going to be 10 of us when I made the appointment. And we were definitely rushed! Then at the end when we were supposed to be looking at the pictures and adjusting and picking them out, and she had to help other people coming in and out of the studio! So that took away from our time as well. And we weren't able to even look at the pictures on the screen while she was helping someone else. They all just look like a first year amateur photographer did it. And we paid way too much for these. We also bought the rights for the digital photos, and now we are unable to download or edit them. Shutterfly makes you download as a Huge archive file. And you should be able to order them through anywhere that you want, (Walgreens,Walmart,target etc.) not just Shutterfly if you bought the digital rights. But they make it very hard to do that. And even though I am going to order a few, Even though there's not much editing I can do to fix them, they are still low quality.Just overall a horrible, awful experience. Do yourself a favor and hire an actual photographer. That's why all these portrait studios are going out of business. Because you can find an actual professional photographer cheaper, better quality, with more time allowed. And they well show more personality, and that they care about your family and your photos much more. read more

Seems that this anchor of the Greenwood Park Mall has suffered and stagnated over the years. Nowadays, you're likely to find either an early empty store, or such disarray, from the drives of women and their families to the lack of organization of brands or any semblance of shelf integrity, that you'll soon find yourself wishing you were at Macy's or Kohls. And it's a real shame because when they've got a sale on, it's absolutely worth checking out. You'll just have to endure a locally subpar shopping experience. Back in my childhood days, JCP was a staple of back to school, Easter, and growth spurt shopping trips. Now, it's a place I tolerate while my particularly frugal fiancée kills it with the coupons and sales. read more

Honestly, this is just for the Big and Tall section. It's much better here than most stores and I was pleasantly surprised. The options are limited but they're actually fairly stylish. Wish I could leave a negative five star. I arranged for a portrait appointment to take a head shot for work purposes. Out of courtesy for being late in the day appointment, I showed up early by 20 minutes. My appointment was at 5:00. I waited until 5:30 with out being called back. The issue I have is two fold there was no urgency to make their appointment times, they appeared understaffed. There was only minimal acknowledgment of my presence from the brunette who was suppose to take my picture. Highly recommend staying clear of Greenwood Jcpenny Studios. read more

I can't say enough good about the employees on our recent trip and follow up phone call. Amanda at the jewelry counter was very helpful. Steven in appliances went above and beyond in helping me get a copy of my receipt that I somehow misplaced. I am also super grateful to the woman working housekeeping over night that found my friend's diamond bracelet that was lost during our shopping excursion and got it to lost and found to be safely returned to my friend. If the company has internal recognition, these three certainly deserve it :) Just a reminder to those leaving reviews for companies, keep in mind if there's not a specific complaint consider leaving the highest mark. I shop here occasionally for certain items. I have purchased some hair products, various clothes, and some window treatments. The prices are decent and comparable for most of things that I need; especially when I can utilize all of the (% off) coupons and extra deals they offer that help reduce the total of the bill. **** A big shout out and A++++ goes to the gals who are in the window treatment department. They provide great customer service. They always care enough to help you get the most out of any available coupons or discounts to achieve the rock bottom price/deal. That's a very beautiful thing in my world. ;o) !!! The only thing I notice every time I go there is that their computer register (POS system) is barely functional. What would generally take minutes to accomplish has taken literally up to ten minutes regarding a few occasions I have tried to check out. I hope they improve upon their POS system soon. I can't imagine shopping there during the holidays if things don't improve during the checkout process. It will surely be what nightmares are made of. read more

This is a review for the Junior's department. I guess it's just not my style. Their junior's shorts should just be called denim underwear because they barely cover anything. (But this is almost everywhere, not just JCP) All of the clothes feel scratchy and rough, like it was made out of woven grass or something. Most things are covered in screen printed feathers and sparkles. Everything is always on the floor or in the wrong spot. But the WORST thing has got to be the Southpole brand stuff. I've worked this company before in a different town and thought very highly of it, that's why i decided to work at the one in greenwood. however, to my surprise, it has the WORST management. There is an extreme lack of communication and lack of professionalism. when it came to be the end of seasonal help, nobody approached me about post holiday scheduling, they just stopped putting me on the schedule. When i spoke with the manager about it, all she had to say was "someone should've told you, i'm sorry about that." I was planning on working at Penneys for a long time, as my both m y mother and grandmother worked for them and always had high praises. until they get new management or learn how to do their jobs, i do not recommend ANYONE to work at this store. read more

One of the last big old retail stores to still be in business. They seem to stay busy and the staff is helpful and friendly. I just wish they had more big man clothes, lol. I get annoyed when anytime they don't have something, they always say they can order it online, like that is some new advanced way of buying items, geesh, come on, I'm not 90 years old, I have a computer and can order it online myself, if I wanted too, but instead I choose to actually walk into your store in order to see the product and maybe buy it. I came in tonight for some shirts that I knew were on sale. One of the shirts was up on a high hook. I walked over to an older lady that was socializing with her friend rather than helping the costumers in line. I interrupted her an ask if she could get the hooked pole to get down. She went an got it an was trying to hand it to me. I'm the costumer she is supposed to be helping me. Not trying to get me to do her job for her. I told her that I wasn't doing her job for her what if the pole fell an hit me. She proceeded to say that she would hit me. WOW She didn't think I seen her but I did. Then she got really nice an said ok which shirt would you like. If she doesn't want to work she needs to draw social security cause this is not ok. I will never return to this store. read more

Had the worst experience with this furniture store. Ordered a kitchen table and they delivered two broken ones in a row! Instead of trying a third time I opted that they take it all back. Now I find out that its going to be two weeks before I can get a refund! Its really fun being without a kitchen table for over a month. Absolutely ridiculous. But its okay because I can call their corporate number and complain and ask for a faster refund (the store can't do anything but provide you with the phone number). Never again! read more

I ordered a bed with a trundle and paid to have it shipped direct to my house. No trundle arrived with the bed, and now customer service is saying that it was out of stock and I will not receive it, even though it is on my receipt. They informed me that I could send the bed back for $150 shipping plus 25% restock fee. I calculated how much my family buys on average from JC penney and that will now go towards there competitors. The customer service rep was deceitful and rude. I will now use my influence to persuade others to shop else where unless they make this matter right. read more
