It's 107 degrees with 50% humidity in Central Texas towards the end of July. The HVAC people are cashing in. The irony is that the AC is not the real problem. It's the radiant heat in your attic. When it's 107 outside, your attic temperature is around 130 degrees. This burns up your ducting and the AC cannot cool the home. I did massive research on this fact, and started looking for smarter ways to cool my house. I found Jose's company among a few others. However Jose actually came over, crawled up into my attic, and made all the measurements and tests necessary to get me an accurate quote for the job. Friday last week, his group of techs showed up with an industrial grade vacuum, ran a 10 inch pipe into my attic, sucked out all of the 30 year old blown in insulation and other nasty stuff that accumulated up there. On Saturday, his crew shot about 8 inches of spray foam at the 2x6 rafters in the ceiling of the attic, and capped off the soffit and porch area's tight with spray foam. I know it all seems backwards, but trust me, Jose knows what he is doing. I measured the attic temp right after, and now it's running about 85 degrees when it's over 107 degrees outside at around 5pm. My 30 year old 2.5 ton ratty AC system suddenly cooled my house to 70 degrees, and my wife and I actually put on a sweater at night at the end of July watching TV in Texas. All I am going to say is, quit listening to HVAC propaganda, and cool your attic with spray foam; it's not your AC. Best money ever spent. read more
