We had Payless blow insulation into the interior walls to help reduce the noise between rooms. It didn't work as well as I hoped. We probably should have installed QuietRock in addition or instead of the interior insulation.

He didn't upsell, worked with my budget, and I felt like he really had my best interests at heart. The install teams were true professionals, very covid aware, clean and precise in their work, and I really felt like I had absolute experts taking care of my beloved home. Even during an ice storm event, they came through and finished the work and my home is now warm and cozy and the new furnace is so silent and efficient. Is it wierd that I wish I needed another AC? I was impressed every step of the way. They also went above and beyond, adding extra insulation at no charge! Mr. Wayne followed up weeks later for quality control and added more insulation and air sealing that was even more than what we had contracted for. I can't recommend Stellrr enough! Summary: they totally wasted my time, and are not trustworthy/competent for attic air sealing or…read moreHVAC. E.g. They recommended an HVAC return that would have never functioned correctly according to HVAC pros. They would have upgraded a supply plenum without changing ducts, which would have accomplished little. I had them come in the spring to assess my house. They suggested many improvements, of course, but the sales process is so clunky that any change requires them to reprice the whole quote. This wasted a bunch of time. They could complain about me, sure, but they were the ones trying to upsell me. They were supposed to pull out all insulation, air seal, and put in new insulation. However summer arrived and it got too hot, so the sorry changed: "we don't actually need to pull insulation, we can just move it around and seal and add new on top" of my existing feces ridden insulation which they originally insisted to remove! You cannot adequately air seal without removing insulation. Do your own research and you'll see. Afaik they were also not going to use the correct cans to seal around lights. For these reasons I was only going to use them to pull insulation and put in new, plus a few other non-specialist improvements. They also had nothing to say about the terrible air sealing around my doors because they never checked! "Energy savers" is a joke if you can't identify the largest energy leak for a house in the winter. When I came back to them to get a final quote, the ignored me twice before blowing me off. I would not recommend using them for anything.

Last month, Moore McDonough, owner of 360 Energy Savers and a local energy specialist, spent several days advising us on how to improve our older home's heating and cooling system. I'm a bottom line kind of a girl. Just the facts and make it quick. You do not get that with Moore. He gave us the Wikipedia version of everything and I certainly appreciated his knowledge. For example: "One inch of insulation material is equal to the heat resistance of a foot and a half of brick". Fascinating, right? This is definitely cocktail hour trivia. Moore's employees, Shawn and Eric, who are extremely polite and hard-working, installed weather-stripping, insulation, and expanded our vent system. These guys spent a lot of time crawling around the attic like giant rats. At one point, Moore brought in an Energy Conservationist who created a new duct system and performed additional work netting us numerous rebates from the City of Austin. Our first bill, even with the summer heat, was less than our last cooler weather bill. Plus, the rebates will pay for more than 25% of what we had done, which included a new air conditioning unit. We are now, accordingly, freezing in the summer.

They gave me a quote in Spring 2016 and due to a family responsibility, it caused me to push the project to 2017. Out of five quotes he was one of two people who came back out to requote the job. He was the only contractor that sent me a quote when he said he would and showed up on time. Pat and his guys came out and removed all the old debris from my attic and installed spray foam. He even went up and above the original plan and resealed our heating ducts and foamed around our light fixtures and air vents to seal them completely. It's only been about a month so I can't yet speak to the cost savings but I can tell you that we have been able to turn our thermostat up 6 degrees and it's still pretty cold in the house. They also installed a whole house surge protector, which is something my husband has wanted for a while. We are very happy with our decision to use Attic Dr.

Pat stopped by, and I was immediately taken by how passionate he was about the foam technology - a solution I was secretly leaning toward from my own studies. What he said resonated with what I read. Plus, I loved to work with people who are passionate about what they do. Verbal agreement reached. Pat had to delay the scheduled work a couple of times due to jobs at hand, and he had a even bigger job starting right after mine. I got concerned. By the time his team got to me, they had exactly one day to finish the job. I worried if the work quality might suffer. Pat and his team showed up on time in the morning. By the time I got home from work in the afternoon, they were done. I inspected the area, not only did they vacuum the old fiberglass as agreed, and foamed the whole vaulted ceiling, sealing every nook and cranny, they also fixed a major leak in my duct work, and foamed my AC return air plenums to keep from energy loss (duct work was not in the agreement). Ernest, one of the guys climbed under both of my fake gables to reach the real ceiling above them to foam it (I didn't even know about the hidden ceiling). All three of the guys had to have pushed hard to get so much done in one day - and then some. A big smile on Pat's face told me he was proud of what they did. It's been a couple of weeks now, and for the first time since I bought the house, I felt warm air coming out of the vent during 40 degree nights outside. The air was able to reach the 72-75 range I set, and actually stopped blowing regularly throughout the night. I think Pat's foaming of the plenums helped too. How fantastic. My word of advice is be patient, do your own research about the technologies, and work with the right contractors. The ones who responded first did not have my best interest at heart - promoting solutions that were not the best for me simply because that's what they carried. Phone tagging and delays I can handle - that's part of working with people. But when you find those guys who are passionate about getting things done right, stick with them. I'd recommend Pat, Ronnie, and Ernest to everyone (I think it was Ronnie).

I hired BioTex Foam to install spray foam insulation above my garage attic. I researched the…read moreindustry and product extensively. Proper installation is very important for spray foam. BioTex was the most expensive but they had a great sales pitch about how good they were, how experienced their crew was and many other reasons to justify a premium price for their services. This was all a sham. BioTex's list of failings is long. They started the job late. The superintendent left the job early to start his long weekend (labor day). The workers then performed the wrong job and took most of the insulation out of my house, instead of only the garage attic as per the contract. The owner then refused to make a reasonable effort to resolve the problem his employees created. The following is a list of BioTex's repeated failures and lack of customer service. 1. They were a day late starting the project. 2. We had company coming to stay with us for labor day so I asked to wait until after the long weekend to start the project. They assured me they would finish before the weekend. (My girlfriend is still upset about guests having to sleep on the floor because the spare bedroom was full of attic storage items moved for the work.) 3. They removed most of the blown in insulation from my entire house. My AC has been working overtime for 10 days now trying to cool a house without insulation in the Central Texas summer. It will likely be several more days before I can get the insulation replaced. 4. They attempted to pressure me into a rapid decision to accept a questionable repair by an unknown third party. 5. When I didn't immediately accept their initial proposal, they then refused to address the problem in a timely manner. The owner, Jared Amon, again attempted to pressure and intimidate into accepting a resolution that was most favorable to him. 6. Jared Amon never even came to my house to see the mess his crew caused. Yet he continued to insist on getting a full price payment for the job, even though it was going to be completed 3 weeks late and after causing a significant inconvenience to me and my family. He refused to even acknowledge the extra cost of the electricity needed to cool a house without insulation. 7. I finally had to fire BioTex. I have to coordinate the project to get new installation installed to fix their mistake. Jared Amon is now even refusing to pay to replace the insulation his crew took out of my house.
