I called JC on the referral of Joe's Window Cleaning (Joe's did an amazing job on our house. I would have used Joe's again, but we had a short-turn request due to an invasion of family) and they couldn't do the job in time.
Justin said he'd match Joe's pricing and would be here at 10:30 am, and I gave him detailed instructions on how to get to our house. He was late. At 11:40 I again, checked the front, and no one was here. I noticed that I had a missed call from a minute before -- but no message. (We live in an area without cell phone coverage - sometimes calls go direct to VM).
I called back immediately, from the deck, and he didn't answer. I left a VM and gave him my office number, just in case. Then I walked immediately to the front and looked outside, and saw his truck int he driveway. I glanced at the front porch. He was looking at me with his arms out with an exasperated expression. I opened the door and said "HI". He was noticably angry, stating that he had been calling and my voicemail was full. He also said he'd been standing there, ringing and knocking for a "long time."
(BTW -- I later asked my landlord, who was on the roof doing wood repair if he'd been out there long. He laughed and said, "The guy just got here... he wasn't even out there for two minutes. I told him you were home and might be on the phone.")
His reaction really stumped me. I apologized to him, pointing to where I was standing the whole time (30 feet from the door he was at) and said that I'd been waiting for him since 10:30. He said he wanted to look at the job. I led him through the house, showing him the windows Joe had done. In essence, he told me he'd do less work and charge me $55 more. I was a little surprised by that, and said, "Oh, I thought we agreed you'd match Joe's pricing" with the potential for a $20-25 difference, depending. He said "To be honest, Joe said he'd charge you a LOT more to do this work next time." This was weird, because Joe himself gave me the on-site estimate, and did not express that it would be more next time.
Well -- Justin was rude, edgy and impatient, and I don't know if it was because he was already running late, got lost on the way, or what. I think I was shocked, so I paused, to consider what to do -- I had my entire family coming in 2 days and wanted the windows cleaned, but I didn't really like his attitude or his approach. I had said okay to his $30 up charge but was trying to figure out if I was willing to pay an additional $25 for him to clean a little bay window we had on the 2nd floor, and wondering how I'd get to it to clean it if I didn't. have him do it.
I swear, I hadn't been silent more than 10 seconds when he said something like this: "Obviously we can't come to agreement here and I don't want to waste my time. This is a lot of work and if you're not willing to pay for it, I am leaving" I said "Hey, I live here. I know this is a lot of work. I'm just figuring out how i want to approach the little window." Well -- Justin had already made up his mind - he didn't want the job. He literally stormed out the door and downstairs without another word. I was totally shocked at this point. I said, "So without even waiting for a response, you're just going to leave?" He said "YEP" and drove away. My landlord was as appalled as I was, having witnessed this exchange. It was really unbelievable. So yeah. Not a good experience at all, and I would **NEVER** refer anyone to them after this.

In response to Justin's feedback below - I just want to say that my initial review was 100% truthful. There are no lies or fabrications, and my landlord was there to witness what transpired. As a small business owner myself, I'm not out to hurt or troll anyone. I just feel like people need to be aware of what transpired with me so they can juxtapose this against other reviews. This is just one review of many - so how can it hurt him if it's an isolated incident? In the end, I just wish he'd own up to his behavior! An apology can go a long way to restoring trust and relationship, and I have nothing to apologize for. :( read more
