I called Matt two days ago to inquire about having my chimney swept. His price was more than reasonable for what he offered and he had availability today, so I agreed to hire him. He arrived today, on time and with an assistant, and they did an amazing job on my wood stove and chimney. The interior of my stove looks better than it ever has since I acquired it with the house I purchased four years ago. Both Matt and his assistant are very thorough, professional, respectful and friendly, and knowledgeable about their craft. Matt is also able to diagnose and repair nearly any problem that can arise with wood stoves and chimneys on the spot, but that wasn't necessary for me, showing that hes not the type to sell unnecessary services. I'd recommend MB Chimney Sweep to anyone. Thanks Matt! read more

I had smoke coming out of my fireplace, even when I had a very small fire. I called MB Chimney because they are local. Matt showed up late, having run out of gas, in his truck. And, without a gas can. And, as it turns out, without his wallet! So, I let him use my gas can. I drove him to a gas station. I paid for his gas. I drove back, and he filled his tank. Then he looks at my fireplace. He said my flue wasn't open. He opened it. He showed me where it was. He suggested a cleaner for the stones around the fireplace. And then charged me $90.00!! And never gave me the money for his gas!! I don't recommend this business. No integrity. No conscience. read more

Excellent prompt service (happened to be available the same day), friendly and professional. Matt knows what he's doing. Good price. Honest. Chimney and wood stove are in great shape. From now on it's Matt every time. read more

We were way overdue for a chimney cleaning and I found Matt via a Google search in our area. He was friendly, kept a dirty job neat, he was considerate with the interior of our home, he was knowledgeable in cleaning, repairing and restoration of our fireplace and chimney cap. Matt's work ethic and attitude were also terrific. He charged a very fair amount for all he did! We highly recommend Matt for your fireplace needs. read more

Matt is an honest and hard worker. He committed to his appointment and his pricing is really competitive. He gives you a quote up front, so you know what to expect. He even helped clean up the dryer lint that flew out of the vent. He has a great sense of humor and has a cool dog that goes everywhere with him. I would hire him again. read more

Did the job we needed from him. Glad I had it taken care of before storm season because prior to having it cleaned our house was so smokey!

Missed his appointment. Tried calling but didn't respond until hours later and said he was still coming. He never made it and didn't return my calls. read more

Matt came out promptly and inspected a chimney and fireplace for us. He examined the inside and the flue. He also made sure the cap was the correct one and looked good for use. I'll call on him again. read more

Called on Wednesday and made an appointment for Friday between 9 and 10 am. Matt was very cordial on the phone and thanked us for our business. Friday comes, no show, no call, voicemail full. Is my teenager running this business?? From the other reviews it seems like he is hit and miss. Not sure how he keeps 4 stars. read more

The guy seems to operate out of his car, but he gets the job done and he does it fast and clean. My chimney didn't need much done in the end; I had only owned the house for a year and simply had no idea what state it was in before we bought it. He cleaned it all the same, and fixed the chimneys air flow system too. I'm sitting here looking at my nice clean and operational chimney right now wishing it would get cold enough to use already. Very pleased. read more

Matt is the man... He did such a wonderful job cleaning our chimney, he even took the extra time to show me how to use the fireplace, as I had never used the unit previously. He kept our home clean, and free of soot, and the fireplace looked brand new. Very thorough, fair pricing and overall wonderful experience. I would definitely use his services again. Thanks Matt! read more

I had my wood burning insert cleaned by Eric, I think his name was. He did a great job, was on time and left everything super clean, even cleaned the glass door. He also replaced a worn out spark arrester and repaired some cement on the top of the chimney, for no extra charge. He even offered to bring my Christmas reindeer decorations down off the roof! My stove seems to be burning better since being cleaned. I will definitely use this company again. read more

Desperate at holiday time of year to have our wood burning stove assessed and chimney swept. We were oh so grateful to have Matt come and take care of cleaning out the chimney. AND he went beyond to re-glue part of the door gasket which was loose; and renewed the stove surface with a special stove polish. Neat, clean - he is definitely on our list to call upon next time. Highly recommend! Lynn and Rich Schmitt Aptos read more

Matt, the owner came out, cleaned and repaired a few things to my screen. Next he had me order a chimney cap which he would install. Strangely enough, he came on a rainy day, took my new cap and left me a gross dirty one. Never completed the job. Just stole mine and left me this big thing of garbage I had to haul away at my expense. He's never replied to my text. I'm at a loss! read more

From reading the previous posts it sounds like you need to catch Matt on a good day. Arrived a wee bit late but did the job nicely and his charge was very reasonable. I'm happy to support someone who was also burned out of their home in the CZU fires. For us anyway it was a totally fine job and one done MONTHS earlier than any other local service was available. read more

Fantastic service for a few years in a row now. Very reliable it's hard to get people to come out to Felton but these guys always show up and trek up our hill. Much appreciated! read more

Can not comment on his work since he didn't show up. Due on Monday at 9 am never showed, I left message did not return call until 1 pm on Tuesday. Very apologetic but that did not give me my 3 hours I waited for him! read more

Made an appointment with Matt. A half hour after he was supposed to be there I called and he said he just forgot about the appointment. We reschedule for the next day. He was late about 20 minutes when I got a text saying he was stuck in traffic. I told him to forget about it. He sent me a very nasty profanity laced text message in return, as if it were my problem that he is unable to make it to his appointments on time. I can't believe someone this unprofessional is in business! read more

Showed up the next day and did a great job cleaning the flue and the woodstove. neat and clean

Matt was great! He showed up right on time just like he said he would. He was kind, professional, clean and courteous. He told me that he guarantees that I would be happy with the job and happy with the price and I sure was. Thanks Matt! I'll certainly call you next time I need the chimney swept again. read more

Matt did an amazing job cleaning my wood stove and pipe! He painted the top and front and made it look brand new! The interior looks great as well. He cleaned off the roof and cleaned the gutters. I just got the Monday morning no-show, no contact treatment from Matt, after assuring me he was reliable. Well, not so much. Don't waste your time with this guy. Looks like a pattern. read more

My experience with Matt of MB Chimney sweep was excellent. He was friendly, on time, and he communicated great - answered every call I made, including one on Sunday. His prices were very fair for what I got. He even painted the outside of the chimney to help weatherproof it and make it look nice. Cleaned the inside up better than when he got here. Chimney was missing a spark arrestor so he put one in. I thought I had a problem so he came back the next day to check things out. There was no problem, I had just closed off the damper when I loaded in wood (stupid user error). He did not charge me for this follow up. He won my loyalty! read more

5 star service! Matt is a true professional, he had great attention detail highly recommend! our fire place looks brand new thank you again read more

I am very satisfied with Matt's honesty and hard work. I am a local realtor and often need various trades on short notice, Matt was ready to help within a days notice. He quickly diagnosed the problem and went to work fixing it. Beyond that, he went so far as to clean and reinstall some glass doors that had been in the garage for almost 20 years - the fireplace looks great! Thanks Matt - you have earned my business. read more

I found Matt to be quite amicable, thorough, and I appreciated his attention to detail. Fireplace looks as good as new !

We hired Matt to come clean our chimney. We needed someone asap because our other cleaning place couldn't come until a month later. It was raining so we asked if he wanted to reschedule but said he doesn't mind working in the rain. He came on time & completes the job and was friendly. We had a good experience with him and will use again. read more

Had a problem with my wood stove and called a few chimney professionals. Matt was the first one to reply back to me and was very prompt on helping me out. Great experience and would recommend him highly. Will use him on a regular basis to prevent problems now. Very pleased! read more

Warning -Do not use this service. Started a repair last winter, had to stop because helper got asthma and could not complete the work. Tried to reach out this season and nothing but problems. Initially would not admit to doing the work. Finally after a two hour inspection of doing nothing, he set a date and never showed. Unprofessional, unreliable and incapable. read more

I got Matt immediately on the phone and he was able to come out the next day. Great professional job. He cleaned the chimney and inspected it, then cleaned the fireplace and left no trace that he was ever there. Great Job Matt! thank yo read more

I'm the kind of person who doesn't like to give anyone a negative review so this pains me a little because MB sounded like a nice guy on the phone. BUT an hour after the first appointment and he was a no show I called and texted. He told me that he had tires blow out on a couple vehicles and was in a place with no signal. I believe this because why not? He apologized and said he could come Sunday at ANY time, just name a time. So I said 3pm would be good. He never showed up. NO call, nothing. We were in Monterey and came home to Felton before 3pm to make sure we could be there, so we planned our day around the appointment and never got so much as a call. Well, bummer.. have to call someone else because 2 chances are enough :/ read more

Not only is the chimney clean now for a fair price, but Matt also was able to patch/mortar some cracks in my fireplace. He's friendly and efficient, and he was courteous enough to call and let me know he was running a bit late. This is the second year I've had MB take care of my chimney, and I see no reason to work with anyone else as long as he is available. read more

I called Matt after another chimney repair person flaked on me. He showed up that same day and fixed our chimney, which was amazing in and of itself, but he also stayed for three hours to make sure everything was right. He even custom cut wood stove bricks to place meticulously inside, and our stove is better than ever. I would definitely recommend MB chimney sweep, and will never call anyone else when I need my chimney serviced. Thanks Matt! read more

Matt was out at our place about a month ago to give our fireplace a good cleaning. He arrived right on time and did a great job setting up plastic around the fireplace to keep some of the dust at bay. He climbed up on the roof to clear the screen from above and then came inside to finish the job. He wiggled is arm way inside to make sure he got all the debris and you could hear it through the hose in his shop vac. It's been about a month since he's been out and we've had at least a dozen fires and the efficiency is like night and day. I would recommend him to anyone in the area and I'll be giving him a call myself when I need to. read more

Called this service to inspect our fireplace which hadn't been used in 15 years. Matt came out and tested our gas starter, patched a few cracks and swept out and cleaned our fire place for $75. I would highly recommend him. This is the second time I've used him (The other was for my rental property) and his service was just as good. read more

Would have given them 1 star but Matt was pleasant on the phone when booking the appointment. The worker who came showed up over 2 hours later then the original appointment. I asked about a small crack in the back that the owner had said he could inspect and the worker came back with a bucket of putty and used a finger to smooth it out. When he saw the fireplace was clear of ash, he said it didn't need to be cleaned and that he checked it from the outside. Well, he never once opened the flue and I have a ring camera that shows him glancing at the outside of the building while walking out. To make it worse, the guy charged me $50 to fix the crack. I just wanted him out of my house at that point, so I paid him. I called the owner Matt 6-7 times and left messages that I wanted to confirm the safety of my fireplace if it was never even inspected and the $50 charge to have the guy use his fingers to go over a crack but he refused to call me back and recently cashed the check. Go to anyone else and make sure the job is actually done. read more

Matt came out to our house on the very day we called. He completely cleaned our fireplace and our chimney. We are so happy. Thank you, Matt! read more

Matt did a phenomenal job with our chimney. He spent over two and a half hours cleaning and detailing an old and extremely dirty (unused for 25 years!) chimney. It was hard work but he made it look as close to new as possible. There was a chunk physically missing from the interior of the chimney and he repaired it on the spot for a only the cost of the materials (very cheap), which saved us another separate visit. The total price was quite fair. As a side note, he was very friendly and quite an interesting conversationalist. We will happily use his services again. We've already had four fires and everything seems to be working great. Thanks, Matt! Colt read more
