I have a new firepit in my front yard where the key valve needed to be replaced with larger one so the burner would work properly. Stephen completed the change in 2 hrs and the firepit burner is working great now with the new 3/4" key valve system. Stephen The Fireplace Guy Like quick change artist, Stephen came in, put his drop clothe down, and as he spread out his tools and listened to the symptoms I provided (pilot light goes out after it has reached its thermostat setting), said "maybe needs a new value - $300 to $400." Ouch I may have said. He disabled the inner core, checked a few things out, good spark, gas coming through, so cleaned out some part (emitter?), tried it out, worked, responded well to thermostat changes, cleaned inner glass and surfaces, reassembled, no parts left over (;-) - and accepted my $125 check for service call, and left about 10 minutes ago, all in less than half an hour. Wow! So now you know why I and so many give him 5 stars, and not 6. It's as high as we can go. Thanks Stephen. read more

Steve is a master. I have a gas insert fireplace that was popping on and off. Two other fireplace repair guys came out, charged me a fortune and didn't fix it. Just had a great experience with Stephen, the Fireplace Guy. We've got an older model gas freestanding stove from many years ago, no longer sold in the area. It's our only source of heat, and we were really at a loss as to what to do when it quit working the other night. Enter a referral from a local wood stove place. It had been a rainy couple of days, and I figured if Stephen could even help me he would be very busy and I would have to wait a few days, but my call was answered by the second ring, and he said that he happened to be about 10 blocks from me. He came right over, and diagnosed and fixed the problem lickety-split. He even gave the little unit an inspection and a sprucing up.
