For the entree, the regular and the T-REX are both the same price, but the difference is that the regular has more veggies than meat and the T-REX has more meat than vegetables. Meaning you will have to wait or flag 1 of the only 2 servers. 75% of the time they brought the wrong items and then we would get the attitude when we had to correct them.. very frustrating and annoying way to eat . Came as a party of three for the premium AYCE and for the price, the experience was pretty mediocre. Beef short was fatty and the angus beef rather chewy, but the main gripe is with service which started strong and then petered off even though the restaurant wasn't even half full. Initially, the servers would take our new orders as they clear the empty plates or just walk by down the aisle. We were seated in the middle so plenty of foot traffic, but it didn't make much of a difference because after a while, they just grab the plates and make a quick escape or walk quickly past your table without so much as a glance at you. I go to jazz cat pretty regularly my favorite thing about this place is the insane variety of broths and sauces and the price. I don't eat meat so sometimes hotpot is hard but they have a veggie combo with different vegetables, tofu and noodles thats pretty great and filling. I always enjoy my meal here the reason for 4 stars only is the service is not the best. They've raised their prices due to the pandemic but it's hard to find cheap shabu nowadays. $20 will get you quality meat and flavorful soup that will fill you up. The portions are so big that you won't leave hungry. I love slowly adding meat into my soup to slow simmer so much flavor into my soup. My go to order always is the T-Rex (which just means more meat to veggie ratio) pork bone broth, Korubata pork, and satay sauce. It's the perfect combination especially during the cold months. They refill soup for you here whenever you're running low so you will always have enough food. Also I ask for salt on the side since I like my soups a little saltier. Good customer service. Our server Phillip is so nice. He went over explaining the difference of all the broths they served. What's popular and what he thinks is the best. Everything sounds delicious. While we were eating, he will constantly check on us to make sure everything is okay. Quality of meat is very good. However, I am not impress with their veggies. It does not seem fresh, it looks like it was prepared a little early, pre made. The Napa cabbage looks saggy like it's been seating for a long time. Along with my soup, I got 4 short stalks of Napa cabbage, 2 bites sizes of tofu, 1 fish ball and a small amount of glass noddles. They are not generous in serving veggies compared to other hot pot places that I've been too that has varieties. I didn't see any condiments on the side nor on the table. I guess you have to request for them. You only get 1 choice of dipping sauce. They should at least offer 2 kinds; common ones, ponzu and sesame paste. The menu isn't as extensive as some other shabu shabu places, but I can't argue with the quality of the meat or the broth. The place gets busy as I had to wait about 10 minutes even at 3pm on a Sunday. For my order, I always get the Beef T-Rex style ($18.89) with Spicy Seafood Essence broth and Spicy Sesame sauce. It's my absolute favorite, but I'd also recommend the Japanese Miso and Taiwanese Spicy. It can be intimidating because they have so many broth flavors to choose from, but also love that they do too! When we first got here at 6pm on a Tuesday, there was plenty of seating and we were seated right away! The restaurant did fill up as it got closer to 7 though. It cost about $21 for the hotpot itself and another $11 for the fried golden fishballs. We both got the t-Rex beef (I personally recommend since it comes with vegetables anyway and this way you get more beef too) and then can have your choice of broth! And then a side of sauce as well. Jazz cat has the best variety of soup bases that you'll actually enjoy drinking vs the ayce spots where it's usually too oily or strong flavored. I got the coconut milk which was great and the Chinese herb with kelp was good. The angus meat is nice quality for the price and the veggies include Napa cabbage, squash, noodles, onion. For two people the bill is usually $50-$60 with tax n tip. If you're hungry you may need to order an extra plate of meat to share. The service is quick and kind. Inside it's all booth seating so it's private and spacious which is nice. You can put your name in line on the Yelp waitlist. They share parking with a bank so there's usually enough spots at dinner time. They have lunch specials for under $20. This place never disappoints. I think this is the only shabu place where I am able to actually drink their soup. My order is usually Japanese spicy miso or regular miso, thai spicy sauce, beef or lamb, and vermicelli noodle. My husband brought up that their rice is dry, and I tried it, and it is true. Wow!! Jazz Cat has really gone down in terms of quality. I arrived Monday night and was the last person to join the waitlist (party of 2) at around 8:50pm. We were super grateful that we were still able to get on the waitlist as there were a few parties that came after us that were turned away. I was surprised that there was a wait on a Monday night, and we waited about 30 minutes before getting seated. They're definitely understaffed so the whole process (getting our menus, waters, ordering) took a long time. I ordered the T-rex Beef with lavender milk soup base and sesame dipping sauce. Wow- everything was so subpar. The beef was extremely chewy and not tender. The soup base tasted definitely weird. And the sesame dipping sauce had a burnt taste to it- not the usual sesame dipping sauce I'm used to. They also got our order wrong and gave us one of our orders as regular and not T-rex (but we didn't mention it since we were already feeling rushed). They handed us the bill just 5 minutes after giving us our food and asked us to pay and sign the receipt fairly quickly while we were still eating. In general, the service was mediocre to not great. I've been going to both this location as well as the one in Rowland for years and I've always been a satisfied (and happy) customer until tonight. Were we invisible? Not cool. Everything we attempted to order on the drink menu was unavailable. They just barely re-opened for dine in, we get it.... but it was disappointing when the one beer we did ordered turned out to be flat and musky looking with weird foam on top (picture provided). When we informed the waitress our beer tasted and looked funny, she said" Well that's how it's supposed to look like." Ummm no.... She exchanged it for another (flat) beer. So...I ordered the Creamy Corn soup base, which was my usual favorite at Jazz Cat, until now. My soup was tasteless. The service was slow it took about 45mins from the time we ordered to receiving our soup base, we also order a couple side items and our waiter asked we we wanted a double order, but came back with what appeared to be a single person portion (for example we got 4 quail eggs for 2 people as a "double order"). The overall experience was not what i recalled at the other locations. The restaurant was not super busy (there were several empty tables) and it looked like there was amount of staff. The music was muffled and with the overall moody/dim light just made the overall experience worse. For the amount we paid, it would have been better if we went to another hot pot place. Parking was quite easy in the plaza and the wait on that Sunday evening was about 30 minutes after checking in on the kiosk which was not too bad. I ordered the premium beef T-rex (more meat than veggies) set that came with rice, egg, and vegetable platter with spicy seafood essence soup base and japanese sesame dipping sauce. The broth was super flavorful and not too spicy which I liked and the dipping sauce was nothing special but a good compliment. I would recommend the Thai Satay sauce though, super flavorful with a nice tang. It was definitely a lot of food for what I paid for and the meat was delicious. The staff were so attentive and checked in on our table often. The seating area did get a bit warm during the meal but very typical for the hot pot experience. As far as the food goes, I will compare it to Boiling Point and say that I MUCH prefer Jazz Cat even though it's more expensive. You get much more space and sit comfortably here compared to BP, and overall I find the flavor to be just as good if not better. I always get the Spicy Miso broth and Angus Beef T-Rex, along with an order of their Popcorn Chicken (which is really a hit and miss item) and it leaves me perfectly satisfied. The seafood essence is a popular choice, and I also like the spicy pork broth. I will say my name issue with jazz cat is the lack of good broths. All of them taste under seasoned and watered down. I've been to this location over 10 times and I'm still underwhelmed by the broths. If any manager is reading this, please work on a more tasty, and full broth (less watery). The meat quality has always been good and the serving amount is fairly generous. I personally am not a huge fan of the veggies included as part of the meal (not many actual green veggies), but I usually end up ordering a side of spinach or bok Choy. The interior is kind of surprising at first, as it honestly looks really classy and nice. There are a few Jazz Cat Restaurants in SoCal (perhaps 3), and this is one of them. The food is standard hot pot fare. They offer a wide variety of soup bases to choose from, and some are tasty, but they do not refill the Shabu Shabu with the soup base. Instead, they use a clear broth to refill, which significantly dilutes the soup base and diminishes the taste. Keep in mind the portions here are on the smaller side both for the meats and the veggies. Additionally, there are not a lot of different types of veggies. The service here is a bit slow and a bit less friendly, especially compared to that of the service in City of Industry. It can be hard to flag down staff depending on where you're sitting. The restaurant has an entrance from the street side and from the parking lot. We have gotten Boiling Point to go and they pack everything well and the food is already cooked. But Jazz Cat packs the raw meat, raw veggies and two things of soup separately. Best Shabu Shabu I have ever had! Jazz Cat has a new regular in me. I can't wait to go back!

Man I've been coming here since this location opened, mainly because they closed the Alhambra location for a while. I'm done visiting this location, service went from bad to worse. I got in line via Yelp and was told to check in with the host, some guy named Andrew was punching in his order so I waited for him to finish and before I could say anything he took off. I'm waiting at the front counter when a party of six show up, this dude has the audacity to ignore me and talk to the party that just showed up. I was #2 on the list and he walked them to their table before me, then he let another group of 2 ahead of us. Rude as hell, that's the last straw for me. You combine this with the rude wait staff and it's easy to ignore this location, I'm going back to the Alhambra location or the industry one. Garbage service read more
