Super cute lil bakery. We came on a Saturday for breakfast and I got a ham and cheese croissant and my boyfriend got a bacon egg and cheese bagel. We also split a chocolate croissant. The food was absolutely delicious and I will be back to pick up bread for the house. Maybe we were there on a bad day, but there was a sign indicating they were short staffed. It took a bit for the food to come out but the person at the counter had already warned us. And they were pretty busy with a constant flow of people. My only wish was that coffee/espresso was also a staple to their menu. A tasty croissant with a hot latte would have been perfect. Regardless, we will be back. read more

Their sandwiches are made fresh to order and are quite filling with my favorite being the chicken bacon avocado. If you like some spice, the jerk chicken sandwich is also great! When you first walk in through the doors, you are blasted with the aroma of fresh baked bread. It smells heavenly! There are 3 tables and a counter along the wall, with seating for maybe 12-15 patrons. We ordered the Chicken Bacon Avocado on Ciabatta Bread with the side salad. I have driven by this place for awhile and kept saying I should check it out, friend at work tried it and said was great and still I waited. Don't make the same mistake I did, run in the next time you are in the area. They have bread loaves, pastries, breakfast and sandwiches. The place is tiny but smelled delicious as walked in. Jax Bread is located in an unassuming strip mall where, candidly, I would not normally expect to see a bagel store. Note that the driveway entrance is along the side street and not on the main street. We stopped in for breakfast on a recent Sunday and while there wasn't a line when we got there, one formed pretty quickly after I ordered. Their web site says they were voted the best bagels in Jax, so we decided to try an everything bagel with scallion cream cheese and also the Egg Works tartine. I asked if the bagels were fresh and was assured that they were, so I ordered it not toasted. I grew up in NYC and so grew up with New York bagels, but I also enjoy non-NY bagels as long as they are fresh and tasty. They brought the order to our table (we sat outside, which was quite pleasant). The bagel itself was cold, giving us the impression that it came out of a refrigerator. I can't say for sure that it had been refrigerated, but it did not have the warmness of either fresh baked or room temperature bagels. And while it did not taste like a NY bagel (the texture and crust were all wrong), it was OK. The tartine, however, was outstanding. The African bread that it was served on tasted delicious and rich, like other similar breads (think Challah or Brioche). The eggs were warm and fluffy and the combination of ingredients was excellent. We asked for the truffle oil on the side and while I am normally not a fan of truffle oil (a very little goes a very long way), it was not too bad. And the coffee was also excellent. So if I were in the area again, I would stop in for the tartines and also to try the other pastries, which looked amazing. read more

I was just about to dig into a salad at home when I remembered that I'd been wanting to try Jax Bread so I made my way over there on a Sunday afternoon, about 30 minutes before they closed. I ordered the chicken, bacon, avocado sandwich, along with a piece of the banana bread. I don't really like sauces on my sandwiches so I asked for no mayo and the ranch on the side. The owner's daughter, who took my order, happily accommodated the request. I waited in my car for my order and it came out quickly. This was not one of those skimpy little lunch sandwiches. When I opened up the packaging at home, the chicken, onions, and avocado basically fell out because the sandwich was so stuffed. I was only able to make it through half of the sandwich before getting full but I really enjoyed it. The chicken was seasoned on its own and that, along with the bacon that added some saltiness, the avocado with the creaminess, the peppery arugula, and the bite of the red onion, really worked well together. I didn't even really need the ranch. The star of the show though, as the name of the place suggests, was the bread. The ciabatta was light and airy and it had great flavor. It seemed a bit sturdier than the African sweet bread so I tried it this time but I do want to try the sweet bread at some point. I was so pleased with the sandwich that I almost forgot about the piece of banana bread. I took a small bite of that and it was good but the sandwich quality was better. It was thick and light on banana flavor. I think heating it up may help it some. I also tried a sample of the lemon poppyseed bread while I was in the store and that was tasty too. I can't wait to come back to this place and try more of their offerings, both the pastries and the sandwiches. But for now, I'm looking forward to eating the other half of my sandwich. read more

Since my IG comment was removed I figured I would write on where it counts and can't be removed. I drove 25 minute to try Jax Bread, was super excited to try and the goodies. Bought about $35 worth of items, 3 types of croissants and a loaf of bread. The bread on display was rock hard so the girl brought a loaf from the back which was seemingly softer. The only thing worth purchasing was the raspberry croissant, everything else tasted day old. The bread didn't taste good at all, Publix is actually better and cheaper FRESHLY baked. You're a bread co, bake daily and serve fresh products! Worst plan croissant I've ever had, Costco has better. Don't waste your money. Agh, this used to be our favorite bakery a few years ago, the sausage rolls were life, bread puddings were the stuff of dreams. Came in today to find their menu has greatly diminished and their once boisterous pastry case filled with a good variety is now filled with sourdough bagels... which is great, but not what I was expecting. The prices have also gone way up on what is left of their non-sourdough items, $10 for a cinnamon roll is pretty steep. read more

Let me start by saying this place has AMAZING customer service. They are so nice and will do anything to help! Lots of breakfast and lunch sandwiches to choose from- and they all look delicious! Today I got a black hot coffee and an everything bagel with cream cheese. The coffee was simple- not bitter black, which makes me happy. The bagel was good- a little more "bread-like" than regular bagel texture, but great flavor. I think the everything bagel seasoning could've used just a touch of salt. The biggest complaint was the limited cream cheese, I wish that it was about doubled, as I prefer to have a good amount in each bite. They do have limited hours - closed on Monday's and open mostly mornings to early afternoon, so make sure you check before you go. I had been craving some brie for awhile and once again not wanting to leave my desk, I pulled up my food delivery app and came across Jax Bread Co when searching for brie. The Brie Melt stood out for me the most, with brie, bacon, arugula, and their housemade fruit compote on slices of french sourdough. The menu didn't specify a side but I didn't mind that. I was happy enough with just and sandwich. It arrived on time and I opened the container. To my surprise, it came with chips! Awesome! I will also say that I was not expecting the sourdough to be as thick as they were and I was initially put off by it. That was my bad because I was thinking about the bread you buy in a grocery store...much thinner and loosey-goosey for sandwiches. I took advantage of the unseasonably mild mid-June weather and find a place to eat outside. 75*, low humidity, and breezy. In Florida. In June!? Whaaa? I checked out Jax Bread Co off Baymeadows. It's a locally and minority-owned bakery serving fresh baked bread and pastries for the breakfast and lunch crowd. I went for lunch and got the 3-cheese melt with roasted chicken and pickled onions on African sweet bread. It was delicious. The bread reminded me of a brioche. I liked it so much, I bought a loaf for home. The chicken was tender, juicy, and had a complex flavor I couldn't quite put my finger on, but definitely stuffed my face into. The pickled onions was a wonderful acidic balance to the rich chicken and the cheese blend of mozzarella, cheddar, and provolone. The brioche cinnamon roll couldn't be more perfect. I have been eyeing on this place for a while and have been wanting to try this place out! I finally got the chance today with some great friends, Goldie and Ron (2 of the sweetest yelpers I know). When I first walked in, the place was small and in my opinion very welcoming and peaceful. It's one of those places where you can come to relax and chill when you're having a bad day or when you want to hang out with your friends. I love the menu on the wall where I can see everything. Their sweets looks yummy and their loaves of bread are freshly made. The guy who got my order was very kind and helpful. When I asked what certain things were, he showed me what it was and didn't mind (thank you so much!). I ended up ordering 2 poached eggs with bacon, spinach, tomatoes, and avocado over sourdough bread. The poached eggs were perfectly poached and it looked too beautiful to eat! When I had my first bite, oh my gooeye, it was simply delicious and yummy in my tummy, to the point where I did my happy dance because it was so good!!! Everything blended in so well, and you can taste the freshness of the food! I finished everything on my plate! I left feeling happy, satisfied, and thankful for good yummy good with great friends. Ron got the jerk pork, and loved it. He finished everything on his plate as well. If you want some spice in your food, then I recommend getting this. My husband had to get a quick bite between church and a flight to Toronto. He had promised a friend lunch so we stopped in rather than try to cook between a packing marathon. I had the Brie Melt with arugula, cranberries and bacon, my husband enjoyed a jerk chicken sandwich on African sweet bread and his friend a sandwich and a red velvet cookie. Although the friend admitted to having 5-6 of my pecan sand dollar cookies at church she was fascinated by the huge very red chocolate chunk velvet cookie. She is always game to try something new which is rare in my family as I am the only child who will! My husband in the other hand will eat anything that doesn't eat him first. I love this place! The inside is small so there's only a few places to sit. But its nice, clean, cute and quaint. The food is always fresh and the customer service is always excellent. I've only tried 4 of their sandwiches and a scone. All of the sandwiches are GREAT but I'm not always in the mood for spicy! The jerk has a little kick to it. My husband and I like the cheese jerk chicken sandwich more than the regular jerk chicken sandwich. The chicken bacon and avocado is my ALL TIME FAVORITE! It is light, not too heavy and FULL of flavor! You can also substitute the grilled chicken for jerk chicken in this sandwich. This sandwich can be eaten warm(when its first made) or cold (after being in the fridge). I typically don't eat my sandwich all at once so I can enjoy the flavors a 2nd time. I always order my sandwiches on the African sweet bread because it's the perfect combination and its so delicious! The croissant is great as well but I've only had it once. The African sweet bread is also available to purchase. The egg croissant looked like it came from a top notch restaurant and should have been featured in a movie or something. We had a great breakfast at this cute bread shop while we were in the area. This shop is in a little strip mall and has a parking lot right outside. We browsed the menu and noticed how high the prices were. I was definitely not expecting that. My boyfriend went with the sausage, egg, and cheese on a plain bagel ($11)! I got the lox bagel on an everything bagel and a bottled water. After tip this was almost $30 for 2 breakfast sandwiches and a water. This place will be reserved for special treats. The bagels were awesome. I really really enjoyed my smoked salmon sandwich. All of the ingredients were fresh and I loved the pickled onions and large capers. My boyfriend liked his, but didn't love the sausage. It had curry and red pepper flakes in it which made it too spicy for him. It didn't look like sausage I had ever seen on a breakfast sandwich before. It only took about 10 minutes for our sandwiches to came out. We ate them in the small restaurant. When you walk in there you will want one of everything. I'm doing no sugar right now and I was still wanting bread pudding (which clearly everyone else did too because it was out) and cake. I got the carrot apple cake and it literally melts in your mouth. I almost inhaled it all but the thought of taking it home and warming it up & maybe adding a scoop of ice cream since I had already broken my diet kept me from doing it. We visited Jax Bread for lunch before watching the movie "Us." Everyone deserves a second chance and our second visit was a good one. My wife ordered the Brie Melt and a croissant and I ordered the Chicken Avocado Bacon on Ciabatta and a Cinnamon roll. Then, we saw the owner/Chef Nana come out and take the order of a big group (party of 10). Everything was going as planned! We had plenty of time and plenty of yummy goodness to consume. We even had a picture taken with Chef Nana to post in Yelp. Well, the long wait ruined all the excitement as the big group got their food before us. A to-go customer got his too. I had to inquire and tell them what we ordered and it took over an hour when our sandwiches finally came out, but in to-go boxes. We were dining in. With the little time we had left before our movie, we didn't get to savor and enjoy Jax Bread's creations. I was shoving the food drown my throat like the Cookie Monster. The Chicken Avocado sandwich tasted OK. I should have gotten the Jerk Chicken. The Brie Melt was perfectly toasted. We ate the croissant and cinnamon roll inside the movie theater at our own pace. I visited Jax Bread on a late Saturday afternoon with my wife on a mission to find a quality bakery near my house. I presume they were having an off day, because we left feeling rather underwhelmed. We ordered a cinnamon brioche bun with frosting, a pain au chocolat, and a baguette. We were hungry, so we decided to eat in and asked for the cinnamon brioche bun and pain au chocolat to be toasted. They must have been short staffed, because we waited about 10 minutes to receive our toasted pastries, which was a little frustrating (but at least their background music is great). The cinnamon brioche bun and glaze had a pleasant level of sweetness, but was rather dry. The pain au chocolat had a tasty buttery crust, but was also rather dry. The pastries were large and satisfied our hunger, but I was hoping for more. Later in the day, we made ham and cheese sandwiches with the baguette, which was all right, but pretty close to what you'd buy at a grocery store, rather than the the buttery, light baguette you'd hope for from a bakery. The other customers that were in the store before us also experienced some long wait times, so I'm hoping this was an off day due to short staffing. If I go back, I'll look to try out a bagel or sandwich and hope for a better experience as I root for local bakeries to succeed. read more

In a tucked away shopping plaza on Baymeadows sits a wonderful, mom & pop bakery filled with freshly made breads and pastries and whole hearted yeasty aromas. I didn't expect the menu to be filled with about a dozen or so delicious sounding sandwiches. The decision was tough, as I was thinking with my belly not my brain. Sometimes it'll steer you wrong, but on Saturday it steered me right! Jerk Chicken Sandwich -- Roasted Chicken marinated in Jerk Spices, Spinach, Tomato, Red Onion, Mayo on Ciabatta. You can sub out for the African Sweet Bread, which I'm sure is delicious, but I cannot recommend the Ciabatta enough! Oh my god, the bread was delicately soft and tender, and nearly stole the show if it weren't for the spicy chunks of roasted jerk chicken. The other ingredients played their part in heightening the major players. This was a perfect sandwich! My poor girlfriend had to watch me essentially, swoon and moan while eating it. And for that I apologize. But if you ate a sandwich this mouthwatering, it's incredibly difficult to control your table manners. Jax Bread sources local ingredients and makes everything from scratch on a daily basis. What more could you want? They even serve coffee, give out free samples, and provide warm hospitality. Second visit was great! Service was fast and we were able to savor our meals! Hubby got the Jerk Pork Sandwich while I had the 3 Cheese Melt. Both of our sandwiches were mouthwatering but I think mine is so much better because oh my French Sourdough bread. It was perfectly toasted! Brown and crisp just the way I like it! Arrived around 11:10am, waited a few more minutes since we were the third in line. The young lady at the counter took our orders at 11:26am. We ordered the following: Coffee Plain Croissant Cinnamon Brioche Bun with Icing Brie Melt sandwich Chicken Avocado Bacon Sandwich Coffee was served after 10 mins. Half an hour later, still no food so hubby made a follow up. Long story short we got our order after 1 hour and 3 minutes (12:29pm). Yes I checked and have been checking my watch because we had a movie to catch at 1pm. Sadly, we didn't get to savor and appreciate our sandwiches since we were in a rush. I would say that the Brie Melt was delicious but the service that day was terrible. We were in search of a quick breakfast and decided on Jax Bread. So happy we stopped in because the sandwich was delicious. We were totally bummed we did not try more while we were there and will definitely return when we are in the area. We ordered two of the Ham, Egg, & Cheese Croissants ($8.99 each) for curbside pickup. I arrived a bit early and sat comfortably in my car as I waited. About 5 minutes prior to the estimated order completion time a staff member was out with my order and came right to my car. The sandwiches themselves were lovely. Buttery croissants with a nice crisp interior, melty cheese, hot ham, and fluffy scrambled eggs. The chives elevated this classic and gave it a nice touch. There was such a generous portion of egg on the sandwiches, too. The entire thing was great. We were satisfied and super happy with our choice. A great value for the price considering what was was offered. Quality and taste were both top notch! I am truly looking forward to return to try some lunch sandwiches and alllll of the pastries. Ever since Jax Bread Co hosted a week long Yelp event I have been a frequent patron. Their bagels are on another level. I love how the everything bagel is coated with the seasoning on the top and bottom. I never leave out of there without a bag full of goodies to take home. I could easily eat a dozen of those warm, gooey peanut butter cup cookies. Truly one of the best places in Jax for pastries, bagels and how can I forget the egg and sausage sandwich. read more

What an awesome way to start out my Sunday! I grabbed an Everything bagel with cream cheese, coffee, a mixed berry & cheese Danish, a sausage egg and cheese sandwich on a croissant, and a Reese's cookie. In total it took about 15 minutes for my order to be brought to me in my car. COVID Procedures: A mask must be worn in the shop and you may not wait inside the shop for your order. You must wait outside or in your car. They will bring your order out to you. Inside the shop they have an electric POS terminal but hand sanitizer available for you to clean your hands after using it. My husband and I split everything 50/50 and ate it all with the exception of half the cookie. Needless to say we were stuffed and VERY satisfied by the end! Everything Bagel with Cream Cheese: This was a REALLY good bagel. It had been quite some time since I'd had a bagel and it did not disappoint. If you're looking for a solid bagel with a schmear of cream cheese- this is it! Sausage Egg & Cheese Sandwich on a Croissant: This was honestly the the real star of the meal. It was SO good and SO big!!! When I ordered, I didn't really go in with anything specific that I was looking for- I said I was looking for an eggy/meaty sandwich and the clerk said they had bacon, ham, and sausage options but that the sausage was her personal favorite. Sold. I was asked if I'd prefer bread, a bagel, or croissant- I opted for a croissant. Mixed Berry Danish: This was delicious! The berries were fresh and sweet but also tart. The layers were quite flaky as well. Coffee: Came out at the perfect drinking temperature. Not too hot, not too cold, just right! I opted to add caramel for a small upcharge and it did not disappoint. Reese's' Cookie: This was a total impulse buy. The cookie was humungous and had entire chunks of Reese's' cups in it. How could I say no!? We split half the cookie and were impressed with how soft it was. In addition to the Reese's it was filled with gooey pockets of peanut butter. YUM. This was well worth the impulse buy. If you're looking for a solid breakfast- this is a great place to stop for it! read more

Wonderful bakery! Perfect for a breakfast sandwich, breakfast pastry or a lunch sandwich and soup. My daughter had a early volleyball tournament nearby so we checked Yelp after her games were over for a brunch treat which led us to Jax Bread and Artisan Bakery. The owner, with her wonderful British accent trained at Dean and DeLuca in New York City and her repertoire is really special. She personally served us our food and visited with us when things were slow. African Sweet Bread Cinnamon Rolls Pain au Chocolate Hawaiian Sweet Loaf French Loaf Plus much more Condiments include ham, bacon, Brie, eggs, and diverse options like banana peppers. Perfect to create you own sandwich. Everything we tried was wonderful, but the Pain Au Chocolate was probably our favorite. The eggs, ham and Brie cheese on African Sweet Loaf was a very close second. Since these are created individually, you will wait a few minutes but it is so worth it. Parking is plentiful out front of the strip center, service is very personal and their interest in your experience is their priority. Plenty of coffee available, hot teas are not (my fave, darn it), but bottled drinks and soup are available for lunch. read more

Centrally located neat the intersection of Baymeadows and Philips highway, a quaint shop that offers many homemade options. I believe the bulk of their business is done for some other local businesses in town, consider yourself lucky to have access via their small storefront. Today I had the Brie melt which is French Brie, bacon, house made fruit compote, and arugula on sourdough. Definitely enough to share and a perfect blend of sweet and savory along with soft, gooey, and toasty. I've tried various danishes as well as croissants and they all impress.
