I had a really good meal and experience at Jawny's. I met my friend there to try it (originally from Philly) and we both left satisfied. My friend found it to be pretty genuine in the Philly style. The restaurant was bright, clean and spacious. My Philly cheesesteak looked big and impressive, and had all the right flavors. Staff were friendly. Parking is a bit limited. Recommended if you need a decent cheesesteak!

Got the (215) Philly Cheesesteak, fries and wings and everything tasted great. Having grown up in Philly my entire life I was alittle disappointed to see a mayonnaise option for the sandwiches (never seen that before for an authentic steak sandwich, only a hoagie). The only other down side was not enough steak in my cheesesteak. Great service, good parking and plenty of seating. GO BIRDS!!!

I have been hearing about Jawny's for a while and finally got the chance to try it since they opened their first brick and mortar right next to my barbershop. We ordered the LA Spicy Philly and it did not disappoint. Genuinely one of the best Philly cheesesteaks I've had, the flavor was phenomenal from start to finish. And the best part? I personally confirmed with the owners over the phone that their cheesesteak is halal, which means the whole family can enjoy it together. That's huge. If you're in Sherman Oaks or anywhere nearby, you need to try this place. Food: 5/5 Location: 5/5 Atmosphere: 4/5 (only because they're super busy right now, which honestly is a good sign!) If this review helped, a thumbs up means a lot

LA Philly

I really did not expect this, I really didn't -- THE BEST Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich I've had in my life! I went with the most popular LA Philly sandwich, that came with the Philly steak, a little mayo, sauteed onions, mushrooms, bell peppers and their homemade cheese whiz. The philly steak itself tasted incredibly high-quality, perfectly cooked and super juicy and the flavor was so rich that one would think it's A5 Wagyu meat. Each group of sautéed veggies too, felt like it's some Erewhon quality, simply better than the rest of them in other places in LA. Especially the mushrooms....so flavorful, juicy, so good! And to top all that goodness, the sandwich was somewhat soaked in cheese whiz and that one too, stood above the rest, based on its quality, taste, texture and of how it perfectly complimented the whole sandwich as a whole. A special mention also goes out to their sandwich loaf, which was incredibly yummy, super fresh and slightly crunchy on the outside and perfectly soft and delicious on the inside and all of it, without overpowering the fantastic, savory flavor notes of the meat. Extremely impressive and the best Philly cheesesteak that I've had. The customer service was pretty good and the place itself has modern, industrial design with steel tables and cool graffiti on the walls depicting their food and the yellow color palette is represented for their homemade wiz that they are proud of and rightfully so, because it tastes phenomenal! Will definitely be back again!

$2 each 6pc Crispy Wings

This is not going to be for me. Want to have my party catered and so I order delivery to try them out. Crispy chicken wings- no crispy to be found, rubbery- tiny to be $2 each Cheesesteak- overall made me sad, inconsistent burnt char, no seasoning, breads empty end. $20 a pop is gonna be a no go. Quality reality does not match the hype of their videos

Out of stock for sandwiches

When someone makes an order for delivery and your sandwiches are out of stock (?), you should cancel the entire order, don't just cancel the sandwich, and think, for some bizarre reason, that the customer would still want a side of fries delivered. I would have appreciated having a chance to change my order. In short, don't order delivery from this place. ETA: I got a very nice response from the owner, which I greatly appreciate. So often, businesses don't address customer service issues, and they did right away. I appreciate that, and I'll gladly give Jawny's another try.

LA cheesesteak w/ Cooper Sharp. Bread a little stale. Not much meat, cheese, or veggies.

Appreciate the response and taking accountability for deleting comments, especially when they're from customers who have been there in the beginning and have a reasonable expectation of the food and service. One part I wanted to address is where you say that it didn't meet "our standards". What are customers getting, and what should they expect? What was on IG was certainly not what I received and it's not like I went to a cheap and quick sandwich spot, since Jawny's is supposed to be one of the best Cali cheesesteak places, and I felt like you were a great contender the several times I had Philly Boyz. I felt mine was short on quality a bit, but mostly size. Don't expect to leave filled up, but satisfied and not hungry.

Extremely impressed with the staff! Super friendly, extremely kind and boy do they move quick. I stopped by to try them out today for the first time in my food was ready in no time. Not just that, but I was greeted at the minute I walked in. They totally make you feel welcomed. The dining area is completely spotless. Now for the food, I had the LA Philly meal which includes fries and a soda. It was so so good! Will definitely be going back! The bread was nice and moist without being soggy, their house made Wiz cheese is fantastic. Looking forward to trying on things on their menu.

Finally they opened for lunch, cheesesteaks were a bit pricey BUT worth it, heavy lotsa meat and onions were grilled and sweet BUT also ordered the 2 flavor wing combo and also pricey but I am a wing man and I was so disappointed they were so tiny and dry, barely any meat on them. i will post a pic I would just suggest that if the cooks notice they got a batch of tiny wings they would supplement them with some extras. I will be back but wont be ordering the wings any time soon, many better options out there

Their new storefront.

Jawny's (formerly Philly Boyz) just retired their car wash food stand and leveled up to their first brick-and-mortar storefront, down the street. ========= LOCATION ========= There new storefront is located on the edge of Sherman Oaks on Burbank/Hazeltine in a small corner strip mall that neighbors a donut shop and Jamaican eatery. They took over the old Indian spot that was here for decades and the inside is pretty large and comfy compared to their old car wash parking lot. Lots of metal tables with padded chairs for dining in. There's cool cheese themed mural type artwork on the walls, cheesy whiz dripping down with the Philly skyline in the back and a nice juicy Phillysteak sitting on the Delaware River. Parking is cool, plenty of spaces inside the lot and you can park on Burbank Blvd. =========== THE (M)EATS =========== ~ LA PHILLY -- There spin on the Philadelphia native has mayonnaise, steak, mushrooms, onion, bell pepper and cheese. I got mine with their homemade Cheese Wiz. The bread is a lightly toasted roll that is slightly crunchy on the outside yet soft, chewy and pillowy on the inside. They stuff a good-size helping of steak inside and you can taste the freshness and quality of everything. It all came together great and I loved it was packed with steak. (5/5) ~ HOT HONEY WINGS -- These were amazing. As someone that's been to Atlanta 5 times in the past year (the birthplace of Hot Honey wings) I can co-sign that they were amazing. (5/5) =============== FINAL THOUGHTS =============== New location, new menu, same old deliciousness. JAWNY's churns out the best Cheesesteak I've had in the Valley and I'm glad I can now get it rain or shine, whether during a 100-degree heat wave (presently) or if we're having an El Niño rainstorm. Can't wait to try it with the different cheeses and wing flavors

; It's not what I expected. I thought I would be in for a treat with a local gem cooking up authentic Phillys. I ordered a ten piece chicken Hot honey and Hot lemon pepper; The spicy LA with Wiz and Cooper, & a side of fries with additional Wiz for dipping. Now, in my favor I thought they was on top of they shit when I seen the Cooper cheese as an option but upon making it back home to devour the haul I was distinguished by the low quality. It's not prepared with angus steak cuts. The ranch was of a low quality and no taste. My wings were bland and flavorless. The cool faces and humble demeanor made me think it was #goodeats but I'll have to say it's not

From everything that social media shows you would think that this place would have the greatest Philly on earth or at least in Los Angeles. But after trying it, I was not impressed at all. The Philly lacked flavor. I found myself searching for salt to give it a little bit of taste. The liquid cheese was mediocre. There was nothing impressive at all when it comes to the sandwich.. their fries were decent though crispy and they give you their signature sauce and a ranch, which is nice. I would take a Jersey Mike's Philly over this place any day.

Ohana C.

First time trying and I've gotta say, as a person who don't usually like to eat cheesesteaks... this one was fireeeeee. Soooo delicious. Portions were amazing, service was amazing, ingredients are fresh, and price was decent for the portion. Definitely recommend if you're in the valley come here and visit them. Their Jawny sauce is too die for. The steaks are fresh and cooked in front. They're very clean and keep it clean. Chairs are provided with table. Outdoor seating. Parking is limited.

Food is okay, but nothing great. The prices are where I say absolutely not! For what you get I can't justify this.

For many Angelenos who grew up eating here, Pioneer Chicken holds a special place in their hearts. It's more than just fried chicken; it's a taste of their childhood! I've been wanting to check this place out for quite some time and finally got around to giving it a shot! Walking inside felt like stepping back into the 1970s! I absolutely loved the retro aesthetic, vintage advertisements, historical photographs, and iconic rotating sign outside. There's something charming about a restaurant that has preserved so much of its original character. It's easy to see why nostalgia keeps this place alive! **THE FOOD:** The employee working the register was incredibly friendly and helpful when I asked for recommendations. I ordered the **3-Piece Chicken Dinner ($14.99)**, which includes two sides and a biscuit. I was undecided about the sides, so I asked for suggestions and went with the Spicy Rice and Mashed Potatoes. **Spicy Rice:** Probably the better of the two sides. It had a nice little kick of spice and contained a few small pieces of chicken. It wasn't bad, but nothing particularly memorable either. Just okay. **Mashed Potatoes:** Unfortunately, these were a major disappointment! They were incredibly dense, and not in a good way. The texture was unpleasant, and I really didn't enjoy them. I almost always feel obligated to order mashed potatoes with fried chicken, but these weren't worth it. I wouldn't recommend them! I was also disappointed that mac and cheese wasn't offered as a side. **Fried Chicken:** Now for the main attraction, and unfortunately, the biggest disappointment! At first glance, the chicken looked promising! It had a beautiful golden-brown exterior with a thick, crispy, almost kettle-cooked-looking crust. Visually, it looked delicious! Sadly, looks can be deceiving! The chicken was **INSANELY GREASY!** I honestly lost count of how many napkins I went through. The breading was excessively thick, making it feel like I was eating more batter than actual chicken. The meat itself wasn't particularly flavorful or enjoyable either. I reached for their hot sauce, hoping it would add some much-needed flavor. While it helped slightly, it wasn't enough to save the meal. Between the excessive grease, overwhelming breading, and underwhelming meat, I just couldn't get into it. I hate wasting food, but I ended up throwing away most of the chicken and mashed potatoes because I genuinely wasn't enjoying them. **THE SERVICE & ATMOSPHERE:** Thankfully, the service and atmosphere were the highlights of my visit! The employees were polite, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. One thing I found interesting was that the credit card machine prompted customers to leave a tip. That's not something I typically encounter at fast-food chains like KFC or Popeyes. That said, I'm happy to tip when I receive good service, and the employees here certainly deserved recognition for their friendliness. One of my favorite discoveries was the pair of old-school, coin-operated baseball pinball games! For just a quarter, you get to try hitting a home run by landing the ball in the hole. The best part? Regardless of whether you succeed, you still win a bouncy ball! I absolutely loved this little attraction! The employees were even happy to break my dollar into quarters so I could play. It's these little touches that make visiting a nostalgic establishment like Pioneer Chicken special. I also enjoyed looking through the old photographs and advertisements documenting the chain's history. There's something fascinating about seeing how a once-popular LA institution has evolved while holding on to its identity. **FINAL THOUGHTS:** From a food standpoint, Pioneer Chicken was a **2/5 experience** for me. The chicken was excessively greasy, the breading overwhelmed the meat, and the sides were disappointing. For a restaurant built around fried chicken, I expected much better. However, I'm bumping my overall rating to **3/5 stars** because of the friendly service, wonderful nostalgia, and preserved retro atmosphere. I think Pioneer Chicken is one of those places where the emotional connection is stronger than the food itself. People come here to relive childhood memories and experience a piece of LA history that has largely disappeared. I'm genuinely happy Pioneer Chicken is still around, keeping its legacy alive for longtime fans and curious first-time visitors like myself. I'm glad I finally experienced this iconic LA institution, but unfortunately, the food didn't live up to its nostalgic charm. **Would I return?** Sadly, probably not. While I loved the atmosphere and appreciated the employees, the chicken simply wasn't good enough to bring me back.
