UPDATE 2/18: FINALLY got a Sun Auto district manager to return my call today and he explained that…read morethe "Customer Care Program" doesn't exist and they only pay for tow service if the repairs needing to be addressed were originally done at a Sun Auto shop and still under warranty. That is NOT what is advertised on Jeff's Auto repair website or in the office. Not even close! Taken directly from the shop's website (https://jeffsauto.com/services), "To earn your lifetime business, we do more than service your vehicle -- we provide safety and peace of mind. That's why we offer a 24-Hour Nationwide Roadside Assistance Program designed to help you in the event of an emergency". TOTAL LIE! They do not offer this to customers. NOTE: This is not a "small business". It's no longer the "mom n' pop" shop, privately owned and operated, that had a good reputation for decades. All of the Jeff's Auto Repair shops in western WA have been bought by Sun Auto & Tire corporation and the original owner, Jeff Gietzen, hasn't been around for years. Sun Auto has been quietly scooping up shops all across the nation and their focus is PROFIT. That's it. Run from this place! __________________________________________________________________________________ Took my SUV to Jeff's (which is actually owned by Sun Auto Tire & Service), based on on-line reviews, for transmission fluid change on Jan 28, 2025. Everything fine then. I knew I needed additional repairs done and when I was ready for that, I called the shop (2/14) to ask if I qualified, as an existing customer, for their free "Customer Care Program" (24-hr roadside assistance basically, including towing) bcuz my SUV wasn't drivable and it needed to be towed to the shop. When I called on Friday, Ryan told me I'd need to talk to mgr Gerry (who was out until Monday) about that program. Shop isn't open on weekends so I left my contact info and waited for call. No one followed up so I had to call shop again! Gerry told me that they no longer offer that Customer Care program -- despite that it's posted on their website and there are brochures about it in their office. Furthermore, Gerry said that they only provide " complimentary" tow service to customers if existing work that their shop performed fails and is under warranty and referred me to a local tow service (I *have* AAA membership but why use that if I can use the shop's free service??) I've since called Sun Auto Tire & Service main office (2/17) and requested a follow up from the District Manager. In the meantime, I'll be getting the $2600+ in repairs done ELSEWHERE as I've found several other qualified shops around here with positive reviews.

I brought my vehicle here for a quick cabin air filter check and oil change and they got it done…read morequick and easy! Nice waiting area also. They also didn't go in and find other random issues that may be non-existent, just to get you to pay more money which is an unethical practice that I know some smaller shops try to pull on occasion. The price was fair and their managers are extremely kind and professional, especially Alex! Even though the location is small, they operate with the efficiency of a giant location. My company also uses Sun Auto and its partnered shops and they also are great business partners who help get our vehicles taken care of for our customers on short notices. 10/10 all around.

I'm very disappointed with my recent experience at Sun Auto Repair in Renton. I came in because my…read moretrunk would not close. Before bringing my car in, I called and explained that I was confident the issue was the trunk latch. I asked about pricing and whether they had the latch in stock. I was told the first step would be to bring the car in so they could see if that was the problem. Once there, a mechanic tried slamming the trunk shut but it still wouldn't close. I was then told they needed to diagnose the issue for $140.00 to 170.00 At that point, I agreed because it sounded like they thought it might be something other than the trunk latch. Instead, I was charged $269 for a diagnostic, only to be told exactly what I already knew that the trunk latch was the problem. I don't understand why I was charged such a high diagnostic fee when I clearly explained the issue from the start. To make matters worse, I was quoted close to $800 to replace the trunk latch. For reference, the same latch for a 2016 Chevy Malibu LT 2.0 costs under $200 online. Between the excessive diagnostic fee and the inflated repair quote, I chose to walk away after paying the $269. They also claimed my battery was going bad, even though it was replaced just 7 months ago. Then today, I received a voicemail asking if I wanted to schedule work not just for the trunk latch and battery, but now spark plugs and struts issues that were never mentioned before. It honestly feels like they kept adding problems out of nowhere. I've had good experiences with them in the past, which makes this even more disappointing. Unfortunately, after this experience, I will not be bringing my car here again

I've brought my truck to this shop twice now--and not because I love spending money on repairs, but…read morebecause they actually know what they're doing and treat people right. First time, my clutch gave out right in front of their shop. I'm talking perfect timing--coasted right into their lot like the truck knew where it needed to be. I already knew it was the clutch, so I didn't need a big diagnostic song and dance. The mechanic came out, confirmed it, no upsell nonsense. They got it done in a day and even sent me pictures during the repair like a proud parent updating me on my truck's progress. Second time, same truck--this thing's dramatic. I lost all power out of nowhere. I thought, "No big deal, probably a simple fix. I've Googled stuff before." Then I pulled off the timing cover and found the timing belt snapped clean off. Not great. I shopped around and got quoted some wild prices--like, "just buy a new truck" level ridiculous. A couple places didn't even bother telling me what was wrong, just that I needed a whole new engine. No thanks. So I went back to this shop. Sam asked a few smart questions, figured out what kind of engine I had, and educated me on how it could actually be repaired--not replaced. He even helped me get it towed over for next to nothing (less than 5 miles). Total lifesaver. They've been transparent the whole time. I even swung by mid-repair like a nosy neighbor and got to see the progress. It really seems like once they've got the parts, they're fast and efficient--like one-day turnaround kind of fast. When I paid, I actually felt like I got my money's worth. Real mechanics, real people, no BS. Definitely earned my trust.

Avoid This Shop Unless You Enjoy Wasting Money and Time…read more If I could give zero stars, I would. More than two years ago, I brought my car in for a simple front brake pad and rotor replacement, and now--after THREE visits to (supposedly) replace the offending cheap brake pads they originally installed--the issue of the ongoing, excessive black brake dust covering my front wheels still hasn't been resolved. Each time, I was assured the problem was taken care of--and each time, I left with the exact same mess. At this point, I'm seriously wondering if this shop ever actually replaced the brake pads after the first time, since there's never been any evidence that they did. Rommel is full of promises but short on results. He either doesn't know what he's doing or simply doesn't care--and I'm honestly not sure which is worse. When he had the audacity to ask me to bring my car in a FOURTH TIME (seriously?), I instead asked him for a refund of the $604 I had initially paid him. He refused, claiming, "That wouldn't be fair." I'D LOVE TO KNOW WHAT'S FAIR ABOUT A 74-YEAR-OLD WOMAN HAVING TO CLEAN SOLID BLACK BRAKE DUST OFF HER FRONT WHEELS (WEEKLY!) FOR 2.5 YEARS--ALL THANKS TO THE CHEAP BRAKE PADS ROMMEL USED, WHICH HE (quite laughably) PROMISED ME WERE "BETTER THAN ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT." My recent plan was to take this unethical "businessman" (I use that term lightly) to Small Claims Court, but I realized that (Rommel being Rommel) the likelihood of him showing up was pretty much nil. And even if I won the judgment--as I surely would--I would most likely never see a dime of that money again. If you're looking for competent, honest auto service, keep driving. This place is where cars--and customer service--go to die.
