If you like Persian food or haven't tried it, this is a good spot to get acclimated. We came for lunch with friends who were eager to share their cuisine with us. I have had Persian food before and I like it fine... not my favorite but still... Javan is pretty and the service is very good. We made a lunch reservation but on a rainy Friday afternoon, they weren't busy. Still, probably make a reservation because this feels like an expat's favorite. We had the appetizer sampler and a big family-style platter of kebabs for our main course. Everything was good - the chicken with saffron and the two kinds of beef we tried were all good. The rice is delicious and the tea had a delicious spicy kick. Definitely a good place for an intro to Persian food or a nice meal if you're an expert. Plenty of street parking and lots too.

This is probably my favorite Persian restaurant on the west side! We usually come for their lunch special since we are local and always leave feeling unable to breathe after. My favorite is the chicken koobideh plate and a close second is the chicken kabob plate. Both are very juicy and flavorful. I don't know what they do to the chicken but it shocks me every time! I need to learn the secret to cooking chicken to be this juicy/flavorful! Service is always very welcoming and there is almost always ample seating at lunch. There's always street parking as well and the food comes out fairly quickly. Perfect spot when you're in a time crunch without having to compromise quality.

Such a great restaurant for big groups! We got a big table of 20 to celebrate a UCLA concert. Staff was so nice and accommodating, extremely friendly and funny. We got a spread of appetizers which we absolutely devoured - especially the bread and onion something dip. The lamb shank fell right off the bone and paired perfectly with the cherry rice. Would absolutely come back!!! They also have UCLA special deals.

Came in after a frightening almost car crash experience asking for help and were met by Alex who was very friendly and offered us hot tea. Very delicious tea and super friendly staff who helped. The food smelled delicious and it was a very comforting and warm environment. Will definitely be coming back to try their delicious looking meals! Thank you Alex for being our angel.

What a pleasant surprise! This place is so good. We almost went to Darya down the road, but the ratings here were higher, and I can see why. The food was fantastic. Everything we had was so flavorful! I am now a Gormeh Sabzi fan for life! The koobideh was super tender and seasoned really well. The Cornish game hen was definitely a favorite. It had just the right amount of char on the skin. Our server was Viktor, and he was the friendliest most helpful server. We have been to some Persian restaurants where we felt unwelcome. This was NOT the case Viktor shared how everything was made and he made the whole experience wonderful. There isn't a ton of ambience here, but we came at an off time. We sat in a booth, and it was cozy. I will come here again and again!

Street parking, we arrived to an almost completely empty restaurant on a Tuesday night ~6pm for dinner and enjoyed recommendations from our server: chicken, beef koobideh, and lamb shank. We added a stew and also some cherry rice and one more special rice. If you have not tried this style of rice or are new to Persian food, this will be an incredible meal! Because LA has such a high density of phenomenal Persian restaurants, I cant say that Javan has successfully distinguished itself at the top of the pack. However, it's absolutely high quality, delicious, and reliable so I definitely recommend it. We did have to go find our server ourselves a few times, and the booth was not very comfortable.

While meandering through West Los Angeles with my daughter Lexie, we stumbled upon a culinary revelation--Javan Restaurant, a quietly majestic outpost of authentic Persian cuisine. What began as a spontaneous stop quickly evolved into one of the most memorable dining experiences I've had in years. We indulged in a rich array of traditional dishes: Beef Koobideh, two skewers of impeccably seasoned, freshly ground Angus beef; Chicken Kabob paired with cherry rice, offering a sweet and savory contrast rarely executed with such finesse; and the Bademjan stew, a soulful blend of slow-cooked eggplant and lamb shank served over delicate white rice--a dish that whispered of home kitchens and centuries of tradition. Never had Persian food this good. From the moment we entered, we were welcomed with warmth by Alex, the gracious owner, whose menu recommendations elevated our experience. The service was sincere and familial, the kind that makes you feel like a treasured guest rather than a customer. Kudos to Eli our server. Definitely coming back. We highly recommend this beautiful place for a lovely date or family dinner. Thanks for reading

    Yum!!!!!

Service was quick and easy from start to finish. We had a big party, and we were seated at our table quickly. Our waiter was awesome. The chef even came over to talk to us, gave us recommendations, and was so sweet and kind. We absolutely loved our first-time experience here. Thank you for the mole it was amazing!

Some honestly great Persian cuisine in West LA. It's really close to my work so I stop in often for lunch and every time it is consistently really good. It's very large on the inside so they can host many different sized parties and it is never cramped. Each time we have been, the service has been really great and the whole staff is always really polite. They also are quick with the drink refills which I really appreciate. They don't have a dedicated parking lot but street parking is very easy to find in this part of town. They have a very large menu filled with all sorts of Persian classics. For my most recent visit, I ordered the Kashk O Bademjan as my starter, which I thought was really good. It's nice to mix up appetizers instead of getting hummus every time. For my entrée I chose the Kobideh with a side of rice and salad. It's basically like a Persian meatball in the shape of a kebab. Honestly really delicious in flavor and something I order often and would highly recommend. They also bring out free wraps and onions, which I love. They don't skimp on the portion sizes either, and you will not leave hungry. Overall some delicious person food in a casual setting in a quieter part of Los Angeles. I would definitely recommend to anyone searching for a solid Middle Eastern meal and I plan to be back many times in the future.

Why go to Raffy's when you can go here?…read more I must say that I have been coming to Mini Kabob for 10+ years. I live in OC and have visited on many occasions just for Mini Kabob. The food at Mini Kabob is extremely solid. My favorite cuts are the steak shish and chicken thighs. I dont really care for chicken but they do a really good job here. Even their lamb is amazing and I dont not like lamb at all. The toum is fantastic and the rice is so buttery and fluffy. The ambience is quaint as the shop is small. I remember it used to be a single unit until the neighbors on their right moved out and they took over the space. There is a few outdoor seats but im going to preface and highlight the word "few". Otherwise you can eat in your car or take it to a nearby park. Armen is running the show and is a stand up human being. Always tried his best to remember every customer, gets to know them and greets everyone with a happy smile despite how slammed they can get. Once you're seated, they bring out a few complimentary side dishes (Kimchi, pickled carrot, seaweed, salad and their signature dry spice seasoning. Ordering is easy through the QR code menu. Depending on what you order, some skewers are grilled by the kitchen while others are cooked on the automatic rotating grill right at your table, which adds to the fun dining experience. This visit, I tried: * Lamb Kebab (10 pcs) * Mala Lamb Kebab (5 pcs) * Beef Kebab (10 pcs) * Beef Tendon (5 pcs) * Chicken Heart (5 pcs) * Chicken Gizzard (5 pcs) * Chicken Wings * Quail * Matsutake Mushroom * Green Chives * Cucumber * Eggplant * Pan Fried Bun with Pork & Vegetable The lamb kebab and quail remain my two must-order items after all these years. The lamb is tender and flavorful without having a strong gamey taste, making it a good option even for people who don't usually eat lamb. The mala lamb kebab simply adds a nice layer of numbing spice which I don't find it special. The beef kebab was good as well, although I personally prefer the lamb. Chicken hearts and gizzards were decent. The beef tendon wasn't my favorite this time and didn't seem as fresh. Chicken wings were solid and nicely seasoned. For vegetables, I actually enjoyed the cucumber more than the chives and eggplant. The matsutake mushroom was good, though not particularly memorable. If you're a fan of meat buns, don't skip the pan-fried pork and vegetable bun. The bun itself was soft and fluffy, and I especially enjoyed the savory sauce paired on the side. One helpful tip: after 6 PM, you can park for free in the bank parking lot across the street, which makes finding parking much easier. After more than 15 years, Feng Mao continues to be a reliable spot for skewers, especially if you're dining with friends and want to try a variety of grilled meats and vegetables.
