I confess, this is the first Yelp review I've written, but I was inspired by our fantastic dinner and Nuka Cafe. My husband and I are visiting from the San Francisco Bay Area. We had a wonderful meal at Nuka; one that tops many of the restaurants we usually go to in the Bay Area. The food was amazing. The man who helped us at the counter was a delight. The Babagannus was the best I've ever had. My husband ordered the mushroom pide and it was outstanding. I had the braised lamb shank. Also the best I've ever eaten. Even the rice was great. We ordered via Uber Eats to take advantage of the BOGO offer, and opted to pick it up to save on extra fees associated with delivery. The price for two Doner wraps came out to about $20, which was a pretty good deal! The wraps were supposed to come with fries, but they only gave us one portion of fries. Is that what happens when you choose a BOGO deal? Pretty disappointing. The wrap itself was good, but dry as it didn't have any sauce, and it wasn't tightly wrapped, and felt like they skimped on the meat due to it being part of a special offer. If we had known, we would have just paid the regular price for the wraps, as skimping on portions when you're offering a deal seems dubious. read more

In a sea of Persian places the Nuka Cafe stands out for good Turkish food. We arrived a bit before the lunch rush and parking was fairly easy but during busy hours may it may be a challenge. The staff was friendly and on point. I was bummed that Iskander was not available that day The Food: Aryan: This one was tasty and had the right amount of salt. Hummus: It was nicely pureed and had the perfect seasoning. The slightly bitter olive oil provided a perfect contrast to the richness. Chicken plate: The sides were fresh and tasty. The chicken was well cooked and perfectly seasoned. Lamb Plate: The sides were identical, and the lamb while seasoned well was a bit overcooked and tough enough to cost a star. Dined in here over the weekend and we were pleasantly surprised. We got their Beyti sarma which came with beef and lamb, their mix kebab plate and their cheese pide. The food took a little bit to come out but when it did it was all worth it. Everything tasted great and fresh - you can really tell they use quality ingredients. Friendly service and a wonderful suggestion led to a very satisfying experience. I asked for something authentically Turkish and the Hunkar Begendi delivered. All the flavors of the tender steak, perfectly cooked vegetables, and eggplant purée added up to a delicious meal. Also the free appetizer of baba ganoush was so tasty, it should cost money. We drove about an hour for the Ali Nazik, and although I enjoyed it, it's a far cry from the complex dish that I grew accustomed to. This much simpler version is thin strips of lamb on babagamoush and not the smokey eggplant/tomato puree with chunks of bbq grilled lamb. Service was gracious but its order at the counter. Lamb Adana with rice and the Mixed Chicken Kebap were both very good and packed with rich, well-developed flavor. The lamb Adana had great seasoning and texture, and the mixed chicken kebap was juicy and satisfying, with each component complementing the rice and sides nicely. I ordered the chicken burger - on their nuka website it's a total misprint and says it's lamb; on their yelp page it says "juicy grilled fresh chicken breast....."; no description on their nuka website ordering page. No pictures on yelp or their website or their online ordering page. Turns out it's FRIED chicken sandwich - and not just fried, but Super fried to death, overdone, very thin and not a lot of meat. And drowning in mayo/thousand island (i assume their nuka sauce?), and not a lot of mediterranean vegetables or sauces (only 2 tiny slices of israeli pickles, really??? if i wanted a basic regular chicken sandwich i'd order from dennys). I tried to call to check if they were for sure open before making a trip down but their phone # isn't a working number. Yelp said they were open until 9pm. Nice surprise on Westwood blvd. We ordered chicken kebab, babaganush and manti. The babaganush was smoky and smooth. So good. The chicken kebab was succulent and tender. It came with pilav,(rice and garbanzo beans) and a nice salad I wouldn't order the manti again because it was tiny knots of pasta with meat feeling. I know they were freshly made- just too much pasta to filling for my taste. We had baklava for dessert. Crisp and tasty. I remember watching a travel cooking show awhile back and they featured Turkish pizza. I've always wanted to try it and decided to give this place a try! I ordered the dolma stuffed grape leaves, manti dumplings, and lahmacun Turkish pizza. The grape leaves were lemony and a burst of freshness. The manti were cute and tiny, smothered in yogurt sauce and an herby oil. The lahmacun actually came in a pizza box, I added the fresh sides - parsley, onion, and tomato- to the pizza, squeezed some lemon juice and rolled it up like a wrap. Delicious! I ordered via one of the delivery apps. My order was packaged perfectly and delivered quickly. The portion of manti is huge, I had a good amount of leftovers so it's a good price for the amount you get. I will definitely be ordering from this place again! Came here with my partner's family. Street parking wasn't too difficult to find. We got the ali nazik and manti ravioli. I might have a slight preference for the ali nazik, but both were incredible. Service was fairly quick and so kind. The place isn't super big, which gave it a nicer community feel. Will definitely be back to try some of the desserts! read more

Knafeh is one of my favorite desserts and I always return to the Middle East just for this. Most of the knafehs here are a miss so it was a breath of fresh air when I found this cafe and gave us a decently-sizes plate without breaking my wallet. It's not as greasy as I usually prefer but the cheese pull is still great. Still a delicious dessert otherwise. The service took a little longer but the knafeh came out sizzling hot. So, come in with a little patience. I dined there with a friend around 7PM and it was busy. It was a very social and rowdy crowd with limited seating. read more

We recently came by here because I was looking for Turkish ravioli after having visited Turkey in April 2024. We finally found at this place, it is one of the very few restaurants in LA and OC that actually offer Turkish ravioli (manti) on their menu. Found metered parking a couple steps away from the restaurant, got seated inside and proceeded to order the lamb kebab plate + turkish ravioli dish. Both were fabulous, and flavorful, so we got our craving satisfied! They only have 1 person behind the cashier counter, and he also serves as the wait staff, so the service was a bit slow. I'm glad to find this spot. I'm from Istanbul and it's good to have some good Turkish food around when you really need it. Lahmacun is so good. I was skeptical about cigkofte as it looked a bit dried, but it was good too. Iskender was good too. The best one was lahmacun and cigkofte for sure tho! The last one, the eggplant part was not home made and definitely tasted like a packaged eggplant. I was so excited about it, but I don't think I'd order again. Other than that, good food and big sizes. You should definitely try! P.S.
