They offer a variety of specialty sandwiches as well as the ability to build your own. They have a couple types of bread (white and multigrain). The set up is like this: You step to the end of the counter and order the type of sandwich you'd like. That person gets the sandwich started and in the toaster. You then move to the next person who takes the sandwich out of the oven and adds any condiments and toppings you may like. Their toppings aren't as expansive as some other sandwich shops but are plentiful enough that they'll build a good sandwich. I love that the avocado is cut fresh to add to your sandwiches (not a bin of pre mashed). Then off to the cash register to pay. My husband loves that they have milkshakes. They have a few basic flavors and then usually have some sort of seasonal as well. For me, I typically order the tuna and swiss with avocado added. It's not a local, artisanal sandwich shop or deli. Panera offers a wide array of pastries and baked goods, like bagels, brownies, breads, muffins, and cookies. I'm exceedingly late to the whole Dubai-style chocolate game. I've been aware of it but have yet to try any chocolate or dessert in this category. When I got a free bakery item coupon from Panera, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to give one of their newer treats a try. For anyone unfamiliar with Dubai-style chocolate, it's known for the vibrant green color of its nutty pistachio paste, tahini, and crunchy toasted buttery kataifi pastry. Purists may take issue with calling Panera's cookie true to form as it does not incorporate all those elements since their cookie is simply a chocolate cookie filled with pistachio cream and topped with a chocolate drizzle and chopped pistachio pieces. My cookie was soft, crumbly, and relatively small, especially compared to Crumbl or Crave. There was an adequate amount of creamy vibrant filling that had a nice nutty flavor and paired well with the chocolate from the cookie. There were also plenty of nuts on top. I'm a hard sell with cookies as I either prefer mine to be chewy, topped with a thick layer of frosting or a warm, gooey, chocolate chip cookie. Panera's Dubai-style chocolate cookie isn't bad, but it doesn't make me want another one. I'm surprised to see such low reviews for this place so I am assuming it must be related to the food rather than sweets. In the past I have ordered the cheesecake and it was delicious although there's not much you can mess up there. I like that this place is open late at night because I eat dinner late and then crave dessert even later. Here's what I ordered this time: 1. Banana milkshake with peanut butter and whipped cream. The first thing I noticed is that it was packaged securely which I appreciate for the delivery I ordered. If you don't like that you could ask for it extra blended. The whipped cream on top was not very sweet mostly pure cream flavor without added sugar and quite stable, it did not melt away and kept its form at the top of my cup. It's a heavy shake. I wonder how it would taste with the malt added rather than the peanut butter though that might make it heavier. I'm always experimenting with the options to add things. 2. Deep Fried Cheesecake, Strawberry Flavor Woooohee is this heavy but if you're going to order a deep fried something to share with someone I think this is a great option. The strawberry sauce with strawberry chunks on top was so sweet bright and artificial - I loved it. So much. The best way I can describe the fried batter on the cheesecake would be exactly like that on fried ice cream if you've ever had that at a restaurant - thick, crunchy on the outside soft on the inside, flavorful, oily, delicious. The cheesecake had been melted to an ooey gooey consistency inside of the crunchy outer layer. The only utensil I was given was a plastic fork which was not enough to penetrate the layer of batter so I had to find a knife to help out. I tried this for dessert after eating dinner and was only able to eat a couple bites before tapping out. It was a hefty sized slice. Worth the price. UPDATE: As I continued to work on my leftover cheesecake I discovered that the deeper I got into eating it to more it was covered in some sort of cake like batter which is why it looked so large.
