I had a chai latte, a delicious guava-and-cheese pastry, and some tasty quiche (though the slice was on the smaller side). The atmosphere was bright, clean, cheerful, and holiday festive. The server, Alison, was terrific! She was attentive, genuine, charming, and offered helpful menu recommendations. In the restaurant/hospitality industry, service matters. Alison made sure we felt welcome, cared for, and accomplished her job in an efficient and unobtrusive way. It's my second time dining at Java nation. My bartender/server TJ provided guidance regarding all my food and beverage selections. He was great and provided exceptional customer service. When I'm there, I always drink and eat a little bit of everything! I always enjoy the ambience, food and cocktails. Last time I was there, they had a great guitar/singer that was phenomenal. I really enjoy Java nation. Especially their desserts! my boyfriend and I always enjoy a dessert while dining and sneak over to the cafe to grab desserts to take home. The food is always good and I've had great experiences the 3 times I've been. I have done brunch, lunch, and happy hour here. My French toast was crispy with just the right amount of sweet with Nutella drizzled on it. The chai latte made with almond milk was on the sweeter side but they were very amenable to my need for decreasing the sweetness and brought me both hot almond milk and hot water. I am writing this review as I sit on the front patio area going on 4 hrs being here. What an absolutely beautiful spot, and I cannot speak highly enough about Java Nation in Silver Spring! I had searched for a coffee shop to kill time. Found Java Nation. It is not just a coffee shop by any means. Appetizers, entrees, desserts, coffee, wine, beer, cocktails... Upon arriving, the hostess, Laniyah, greeted me. She saw I had my laptop with me to work and asked if I would like a spot with an outlet. They even had an area out on the patio for me to set up, so I chose to be outside, as the weather is gorgeous. Of course, even sitting inside would have been wonderful - with the open rolling garage-style door and the large windows. My first server was Tim, who had to later go tend the bar. He made some fantastic recommendations. Nelson, who took over, was great, very attentive and kind. Laniyah was constantly coming and checking on guests throughout the evening. I ordered a beer flight. The draft beer options were slightly limited; however, I found 4 to make a flight. My favorite was the Orange Hefeweizen. Second favorite was the Witness Tree. First, I had the mushroom ravioli with spinach appetizer. All the ingredients were fresh. I don't think I've had such a creamy sauce or filling for ravioli before. Next, I had the blackened shrimp tacos on corn tortillas, also an appetizer, based on Tim's recommendation between those and the ribeye steak tacos. I'm not one for shrimp normally, but these were fantastic. Again, everything was fresh and cooked and seasoned perfectly. Every dessert sounded delicious, and even better, they are homemade in small batches. I finished the night with tres leches... I'm so happy with my decision. Each bite of the tres leches was decadent and flavorful. My water glass was never empty. The small table lamps on each table provide a lovely glow as the sun starts to set. While here, Dave Weber and his singing partner, Sonya, serenaded us with tunes. They were wonderful, and I highly recommend them as well. Having been to other Java nation locations, I prefer the style of those more. This one is sit down and if you want coffee, the only option is the small market next door that doesn't have seating. I had a carne asada arepa. The beef was really tough but it had good flavors. The service was slow, but we did go on a busy Saturday. The pastries came out cold and the drinks came way after our food. The matcha latte barely had any matcha. Overall it was okay, slightly disappointing. read more

Went here for brunch in the middle of the week, there was some weirdness going on where there was an issue of getting a table cleaned for me to sit at. The hostess thought it wasn't clean, the bus boy said it was. Then my server took awhile to get my order because his manager wanted to talk to him. Then it took awhile to get me my cappuccino, mostly because the server who brought me the drink called it the wrong drink so I did not think it was mine. However my meal was great. I had a ham and cheese omelet and it was fantastic. I wasn't expecting what tasted like honey ham but it was a welcome surprise. Overall my experience was awkward but I think it was just the a bunch of weird things happening at once and do not believe this is the norm there. Everyone was apologetic and seemingly sincere. Maybe better management is needed but the staff is very good at their job. I am excited to go back soon. read more

This is a great addition to the area! I've been for lunch a few times and most recently for Sunday brunch. Every time I've had great service and the food has been delicious, fresh, and filling. I've tried soup, salad, pastries, a sandwich, arepa, coffee, and cocktails - all of it really tasty. They make a mean espresso martini, and I tried a great pisco cocktail too. The space is great! On the side street, there's a coffee counter with grab and go food. The main entrance is on the corner of Wayne Ave. the space is light and airy with a full bar, comfy seating, outdoor space, and a garage door that should be open in nice weather. I'm looking forward to coming back to check it out for happy hour. If you sign up for the rewards program, make sure to ask your server for the points BEFORE they bring your check. From what I can tell, it looks like you can accrue points for rewards pretty quickly. read more

The environment and vibes here were spectacular! Today there was a stellar band (KICKK) performing live! The service was great and the drinks (a Beer Jailbreak, and some Cocktails like Touch of Peru and the Sangria Roja) were a nice touch! We came here for dessert because I ordered their crepes on Uber eats one day, and they were delicious. I just had to get my friend to try them too! The wait time wasn't too long, and the crepes were delicious. The Nutella drizzle was perfect, and the bananas tasted good, too. They have other desserts that I would be interested in trying in the future, but I have to say I highly recommend coming in and asking for their crepes. Came here for lunch with a large group the other day and was excited to try the offerings. We really liked the ambiance and the service was very good. Most people got the burger, I had the chicken shawarma, and there were a few other things as well. Overall, most people said the food was fine or average. Mine was rather bland, which was a shame. Very nice interior and ambiance. We waited a couple minutes for a table around 10am on a Saturday. Service was great. We got the mixed berry compote crepe to share. It was good and not overly sweet. The crepe itself was pretty crispy, which my husband liked (although I would have liked if it were a little softer/chewier). I got a side of fries, which were light, crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside - excellent! My husband got the house blend pour over coffee and rates it 5/5. My shrimp tacos were okay - the tortilla was a little crispier than I prefer, the shrimp itself was good, and the flavors/toppings were fine. I tried a bite of my sister's beef empanada and liked it. Overall, we had a good experience. Extra points for good service and ambiance. Food was clean and not overly salty or greasy. Java Nation is a nice addition to the DTSS neighborhood. read more

Just a quick note: the main store front, that faces Wayne Avenue is the full service sit-down restaurant, if you put in an order to go or just want to grab a cup of coffee before going to work, you have to go around the corner to their cafe. It's brand shiny new and I don't think a lot of people realize it's open to the public now so both the restaurant and cafe were pretty quiet. I stopped by the cafe and grabbed a lavender honey latte and breakfast burrito. The latte - pretty good. The burrito - below average. But I'm willing to to try out more of their menu before drawing a firm conclusion. Service was polite and efficient, ambiance was bright and cheery imo. We stopped by for Brunch on the weekend. From the outside it doesn't look like much but it is beautiful on the inside and very comfy. Service was great and our waiter was very attentive. The latte had great attention to detail and amazing taste. We got the Benedict and the French toast with Nutella along with the truffle fries.
