Ordered mie ayam yamin didn't get the meatballs , I asked and the lady at the cash register said you have to mentioned if you wanted meatballs then I ordered and mentioned I want meatballs she said ooh we don't have meatballs , to make it worst I got home they didn't put vegetables even green onions nothing only noodle and chicken. My husband ordered fried flat noodles kwetiau it doesn't look like Kwetiau and the portion is ridiculously small no acar either . Nasi and Ayam bakar taste nothing . Used to be one of my favorite restaurants but not anymore after our last ordered last night . To start this review is based more on the customer service of the restaurant. Food is pretty ok so that wasn't really the problem resulting in the review rating but it wasn't memorable. It started with placing a to go order. I had to keep repeating myself and reminding the guy at the counter what I wanted. Turns out he forgot one thing on the order anyhow. I had to replace another order for what he forgot. He also could not remember if we had paid for the first order or not! The to go order itself took over 45 minutes. The wait is entirely too long and what looks like the main cook or the owner of the restaurant would come out of the kitchen and look stressed and speak in a loud frustrated voice. There were tables left uncleared and people waiting a long time for their food and to place orders. Sometimes the owner would come out and ask what we ordered. The guy at the register couldn't keep track of orders and who got what. It was really chaotic. I placed a drink order to go as well and I was told that the kitchen stopped making drinks so they can focus on food! So I asked for the money to be refunded since I had waited for 45 minutes and my food was nearly done. That was when the main guy came out and said he will hurriedly make it. I don't even know if he cleaned out the blender from the last drink before he made mine. A woman who ordered a drink waited so long she had already finished her food and decided to cancel it and left. When we did finally get our food the peanut sauce and soup were cold and obviously straight out of the fridge. And super minor but I asked for napkins too and they weren't included. We really didn't think our order would take close to an hour and we were on our way to catch a flight so we didn't really have an hour to spare waiting for food. It looks like they are understaffed and need a better system. I feel bad for small business owners and I understanding they are trying to get the flow going but oh my god they need to do something quick! I hope we can return and have a better experience to review. I would give the food a 3 star and the customer service a 0. I personally hate giving bad reviews. No customer skills whatsoever! Stood by the door for a good 5mins and actually had to ask where to be seated. She wiped the dirty table with a rag that smells like mildew, so our table smells. 12mins after being seated had to actually get up and ask if they can take our order. Spoke to them in indonesian and they lack class! No manners! Asked for straws to one waitress never got them. 10mins asked for straws from the person serving us the food, never got em. My daughter got up and went to ask. They completely ignored her. 5 mins after Grandpa got up and finally got them. Tip* If you want to buy something from their little store side get separate checks, so the tip won't be applied from the things you bought. read more

To begin, my husband is from Indonesia so I had higher expectations. Biases aside, the menu was very limited. & the waitress, waited a while before she assisted us. I ordered the rendang & rice. The beef used had more bones & fat than anything, & the rice was a little crunchy. Overall I would have gave it 3 stars, but towards the end of the meal, my husband found a hair in his food, which was a complete turn off. This place is very good, the best Indonesian food I've had (I've only been to a few Indonesian restaurants). We went with our Indonesian friend, and tried about 5 different dishes, and they were all good. Our friend thought that the food tasted just like the food she grew up eating in Indonesia. We went on a busy Saturday evening, and the food was served relatively quickly. Service was efficient and friendly. I guess this restaurant has finally fixed all the shortcomings that were mentioned by the early reviewers. read more

I've been here multiple times and it's one of my go-tos for Indonesian food in the area. Their nasi bungkus, ayam crispy, and soup noodles are really good. They also have an Indonesian grocery store next door that sells snacks and whatnot. Would definitely come back :) read more

I live in 5 minutes from Java Bistro but I ordered food from them once a while when I feel like to. Don't talk about their service, ok? they are not trained in US customer service. I ordered Siomay, the siomay is not as I expected, I won't order siomay again, not only the taste & the texture are not there yet, they gave only a small portion of sauce which is not ok for eating with siomay. Get lunch there for the first time. They just open like 4 days ago. So, it's still new and they try to work on the restaurant flow... The service still slow at least take 30-40 mnt to get your food. So make sure you have plenty of time if you are in a rush. Most of the food on the menu still not available.. And they try to make u order from the lunch menu there is like 6-8 item on the lunch menu. Such as chicken noodle mushroom, bakso abang, mie goreng jawa, bubur ayam, ayam goreng, etc. However, this restaurant still have a really good taste of food and decent price. Came here for some authentic Indo food with my family my first time there second. It's what I'll have to say your typical small hole in the wall restaurant however this one had an attached market with food and ingredients you can't find in the market for your Dutch/Indo recipes. Food was good however the timely matter it came out for our whole order to be handed out was terrible. This was a negative for me so I most likely won't be returning. read more

It comes in a bowl came in a bowl. They sell kue lapis, $7, two big pieces. Wish there was lemper. They also have a market for Indonesian food items. read more

I am beyond thrilled that there is an Indonesian restaurant near by! It is about time. The service needed a little work at first, but they have ironed out the kinks and now I feel like family every time we dine, as we walk in all servers smile and greet us as they now know us. The only problem I have had is when I order by phone. There is a bit of a communication barrier. The Risoles and Kroket are always fresh and almost always sold out. The Sate Babi and Sate Ayam are one of my husbands favorites. The Mie Goreng Jawa is my go to dish and of course the Gado Gado and Cendol are a must. Dine or Dash? Dine and take out. read more

Best original Indonesian food in Inland Empire! I said this because some indo restaurant are Americanized on the flavor. Portions of the food are perfect. The only negative is the wait on the food which is kinda slow but worth the wait. I've tried about 9-10 dishes now and I'm a fan of this place. Their food is pretty solid and most of their dishes are just amazingly flavorful and authentic. First off.. their fried rice is amazing. I've tried 3 different fried rices and they are all extremely flavorful and have great texture. The fried rice is made from a very long grain rice and is on drier side, but the dryness gives it a wonderful nutty texture. It is distinctly different from Chinese and Japanese friend rices as their fried rices use fish and shrimp sauce/paste as major flavoring ingredient. My favorite is the Anchovy Fried Rice with Sator. Sator is some type of bean about the size of edamame with a slightly bitter finish that gives the savory fried rice a really good flavor contrast. Their noodles are great too. Their bowl noodles are wheat based and are thick and chewy. Mie Singapore with ground pork and veggies and sauce on the bottom is my favorite. I've also tried other not so commonly found Indonesian dishes such as the East Java salad. Peanut and fish paste, beef tendon, jicama, mango, and cabbage. It's weird tasting to me, but I appreciate being able to try this very Indonesian dish. The Indonesian Fried Chicken rice comes with an interesting soup. The soup is red with green beans, turnips, and maybe some tomatoes. What is interesting about it is that it has a slightly savory, sour, fermented flavor. At first I didn't like, but when I ate it with the vegetables that were at the bottom, the flavor was quite complex. However, I can really see how many ppl wouldn't like the slightly sour fermented flavor. It was interesting... a taste that I had never encountered before. The Grilled Chicken with Rice is pretty good too. it's served on a hot stone plate and with a very flavorful hot sauce. The hot sauce is very spicy but it has amazing flavor and depth. There's a myriad of ingredients that went into the sauce with bits of savory vegetables. All in all, I've really really enjoyed this place. I've eaten at other Indonesian places before, but the flavors and textures at Java Bistro really make it a standout against other Indonesian places. My next dishes to try are the fried fish cake and sweet and salty yanmin noodle. read more

The service is pretty bad. We Went here fo my dads bday. I brought a cake there and asked them to put it away and if they can take it out after or meal. They said that I would have to take out the cake myself. Make sure you are confident in your order because there is no turning back once you order. The options for vegetarians is limited. I ordered the gado gado which consists of cucumber,sprouts,egg, tofu, and fried onion chips drenched in peanut sauce. The chips were not cooked enough and it is smothered in peanut sauce. If you like peanuts this is the dish for you. My dad ordered siomay Bandung and it came out after everyone finished their food. Server was glaring at my mom when she asked him a question. Noodle Heaven....homemade and perfectly seasoned. We discovered this place only recently and have been coming back and back and back...we are hooked, obviously. Only thing they could improve on is keeping inventory so as not to run out of CHICKEN and also update their online ordering, as it would make things so much easier. Unbelievably SLOW service! Came on Thursday afternoon with my husband, ordered 2 items, there were only 3 tables but it took exactly 55 minutes for my food to arrive. I heard one customer complaint why is the food take so long, the lady from the kitchen answered (nicely though) "That table has waited longer than you" Really??? Should we say "Hooray??" The "Lontong Sayur" finally came & it doesn't taste like it, more like Soto Betawi but with Lontong in it. The other food which is "Ayam Penyet" is a lil bit alright. Growing up with authentic Indonesian food & tasted other Indonesian restaurants like Tempe house in San bernardino, Borneo etc. this place still have lots to improve. If Tempe house is 8, this place is 2, with 1 is the worst and 10 is the best. The cashier girl is nice though, she politely apologizing for the food that take so long.
