Nasi Goreng, Ayam
Sandy C.

OMG!!!! YUMMY for my tummy. The food was outstanding! I hadn't had Indonesian food in over a year and this quaint, ordinary strip mall restaurant slayed! There is a QR code on the table with the menu on it and the ladies will assist you if you need help. I ordered food via the app and it came out quickly, hot and delicious! Hubs was the only "white" person in the place. Everyone else was Indonesian. In my book, that means this little gem is the real deal. In fact, we came back a couple of hours later for dinner with other family members. Next to the restaurant is a grocery where you can purchase different sambal, noodles, assorted spices, pastries, etc. I am 1000% so glad I found this place!

It was surprisingly nice to find an Indonesian restaurant closer to Coachella valley. It's located next to a small Indonesian groceries. The restaurant also sells Indonesian snacks. I got Bakso Gili (Indonesian noodles and meatballs soup) - the portion is super generous. My BF got Kwetiaw Goreng. We also got snacks, Mie Ayam Jamur and Nasi Padang to go. Would definitely return.

This is perfect place to fulfill Indo food's crave. Unfortunately I regret to inform that soto betawi - soup's taste was bland despite portion was quite generous. While bakso gili - soup tasted great and it was a big portion. The indonesian pancake (kept in the fridge and good for take away) was soooooo delish, but it is quite pricey compared to another place sold same thing in the area. Service was great, everyone seems so accommodating and friendly. In addition to the restaurant, there is grocery store next door that is a great option to shop authentic Indonesian grocery.

Not the regular noodle, store bought one!

I went on this Wednesday before Thanksgiving and found out that the steam noodle, the noodle is not the regular handmade one but the one like we made it at home (store bought noodle)! Even my kids noticed it when they ate it! What a surprise, so disappointed!

Great for when you crave Indonesian foods. Good food, friendly service. A lot of options to choose from. Nasi bungkus Padang is highly recommended.

It has been awhile since I come back to this restaurant. I highly suggest the fried milk fish, pork satay and ice campur.

I wrote a review for this restaurant in Chinese four years ago, and I'm not sure why I gave it only 3 stars. I reread my article but couldn't identify the reason. This is one of my favorite restaurants in the Greater Los Angeles area. I haven't visited the restaurant for quite some time since it's 40 miles away from my home. I typically stop by when I'm on my way to the Ontario outlets, but I haven't been to the outlets since the pandemic began. The restaurant has an adjacent market without a separate public entrance. To access the market, you have to first enter the restaurant. It sells a variety of Indonesian foods, ingredients, seasonings, snacks, and more. I once purchased Indonesian cigarettes from the market, notable for their distinct clove aroma and sweet-tasting filter. A word of caution: they're quite robust and potent. On my visit, there was a very young waitress, possibly a teenager, who didn't understand my Indonesian. We ordered Nasi Padang and the house special noodle soup. The Nasi Padang was a rice plate with fried chicken, fried tofu, beef, and topped with colorful crackers. The rice was not initially served with Sambal, but upon request, the waitress provided it. The crackers reminded me of my time spent in Indonesia, particularly Bali and Jakarta. The fried chicken portion was small, resembling a spring chicken; I reckon I received about a fourth of the entire chicken, smaller than my fist. However, it was flavorful. While the beef seemed slightly overcooked, it was palatable. The Sambal sauce was exceptional; I even took the remainder home and made an entire meal with it. The other dish, Bakso Gili (special meatball noodle soup), was also delightful with its umami/MSG-rich broth. It had two varieties of meatballs, which I assume were beef. The meat-stuffed fried tofu was a highlight. As a Chinese, we have a similar dish, and this one evoked warmth. The bowl also contained fried wonton, which was crispy and tasty. I can't recall why I gave the restaurant only 3 stars previously, but this time, it unquestionably deserves 5 stars.

Mie Goreng Jawa

Food was really delicious and flavorful. The sauce on the mie goreng jawa was really savory and the egg was cooked well. The chicken satay was really juicy and the slight sear along with the peanut sauce was really rich. The avocado with chocolate syrup was a combo that surprisingly worked and gave me an icy refreshing taste. The satay is a little pricy but tastes super good, while the mie goreng jawa has a large portion and is also really tasty.

Fried fish cake and tofu with fish crackers and peanut sayce

My Indonesian friends invited us for dinner. It was a small place in a small commercial complex. Kinda hidden area . We weren't disappointed. If you are adventurous to taste authentic Indonesian delicacies this is the place. We tried their fried fish cake with tofu , fish crackers with peanut sauce. Great starter for appetizer. It was freshly cooked. Main dish was pork sate with indo sausage, fish cake with rice. I got the sweet egg noodle with sauté mushrooms pork and steamed bokchoy was delicious. The noodle was homemade by the owner and tasted good. The dessert was shaved iced with coconut milk and condensed. That was so yummy. Service is a little slow due to cooking it when you order. Waiting is worthy. They have an Indonesian little grocery as well . Good place to taste Indo delicacies. Surprisingly a lot of take out orders was noticeable.

Nasi Goreng special which is fried rice with chicken and shrimp. Drink is Es Cendol which is coconut milk, jackfruit and jelly.

Tastes just like my Oma's cooking. This is the most authentic Indonesian food I've had at a restaurant. Everything was great. It's very busy for a small restaurant and they're a small business so don't go if you're in a hurry. Everything is freshly made and delicious. The store right next door is a bonus. They had everything from sambal to shrimp chips. Wasn't too loud either. Just a nice family dinner! We can't wait to return. I forgot to add that I usually have to bring my own peanut sauce to Indo places since a lot of people put curry in theirs. I didn't have time to make any before I left but it was delicious! No curry flavor, no coconut... just PB. Added a bit of sambal and it was close to my recipe!

Their Javanese noodle and nasi bungkus is the best one that I've had in SoCal! They also sell Indonesian snacks and spices in the store.

Parking situation may differ if you go in the middle of the day as it is in a plaza with a grocery store and other shops/restaurants. The restaurant is also on the smaller side in terms of seating so keep that in mind too if you go at a busier day/time. I ordered the beef noodle soup non-spicy. It's a very filling meal with good chunks of beef and a lot of noodles. I have a low spice tolerance, hence why I had to order it non-spicy, but I'm sure the spicy version is even better. Although the name of the shop is Cup Noodles, the noodles they use are definitely not as they are of better quality than you would get in an instant noodle cup. What stood out to me the most was how the egg in the noodle soup was cooked! It was fried and most of the yolk was cooked through expect for the very center which had a little pocket in the yolks that was a tiny bit runny. My friend also ordered a pepper fungus (woodear mushroom) for the table which was yummy and a good palette cleanser/flavor break while eating the noodles.

Checked on Yelp and came across Dumpling Artisan. Saw some comments saying it was similar to Din Thai. I felt that this place was better. The smashes cucumber was massive and so delicious. Perfect amount of sauce and flavor. Also got the crab Rangoons which were perfect and loved the sauce. Had the classic pork xiao, wonton in chili sauce and the chicken steamed dumpling. Everything tasted so good and fresh. I enjoyed every part of this meal. The staff was so friendly and our order came out quickly. We also got one or their teas, mango passion fruit green tea and it was soooo good! Also love that it's right next to Haven City so you can stroll over there after for dessert.

This place is a little small inside with limited seating. If you have a party of 6 or more definitely call ahead to make sure there's seating available. The decor is definitely Asian inspired and I love that you can watch them prepare your food through the glass. We went inside to place a to go order. They gave us a menu immediately and were available to answer our questions. We spent a little over $73 and ordered Mongolian Beef, 2 orders of Pork Wontons in Chili Oil, Salt & Pepper Crispy Chicken, Pork & Cabbage Pan Fried Dumplings, and an order of Xiao Long Bao. The Mongolian beef didn't taste like Mongolian Beef but it was full of flavor. It had a sweet but savory taste and the meat was super tender. Unfortunately it did not come with rice and I didn't know. It's ok, because I don't each much of it. The pan fried dumplings had a nice crispy exterior but soft inside. The meat veggie mixture was full of flavor. The Xiao Kong Bao had a nice subtle broth inside and it was quite refreshing. I honestly didn't care for the pork wontons in chili oil. They did not lack flavor but there was a spice on it similar to tajin that clashed a bit in flavor with the chili oil. Also, I couldn't really taste the meat and just tasted chewy dumpling dough. The salt and pepper crispy chicken was full of flavor. The only downfall was the ride home made it not so crispy but that's not a flaw in the food. A suggestion would be to cut holes in the packaging so it doesn't steam itself as much from the heat. Overall, great food and great service. I will definitely go back.

One of the OG's that have been with Haven City Market since they first opened and since I first…read morestarted going there. If I'm not sure what to eat, this is always a solid choice. Sizzling plates used to be THE big thing in the early and mid 2000s with lots of boba places having them as as specialty (RIP Coffee Break and MJ's Tea House), but now aside from a handful of businesses and Pepper Lunch, they're much more rare. Glad that the IE has Sizzlin' Place as one of their sizzling plate heavy hitters. Aside from the sizzling plates, they have other menu items including fried appetizers, soup and dried noodles, and sides like fries and takoyaki, but if you're going to a sizzling plate place, you gotta get a sizzling plate, you know? That's decorum. Service is welcoming and friendly, and efficient in the safest way possible with the scorching hot plates. Seating can get limited due to the nature of the meal, but I've never had an issues the times I chose to eat here. Ambiance can be relaxed and chill when the Haven City Market isn't busy, but during weekends or rush hour, it can get a bit hectic and there may be a bit of a wait. A staple that you can never go wrong with is the hot plate beef and if you're a carnivore or if you're sharing, you have to upsize and upgrade it. The slices of beef here are just slightly thicker than what I'm used to at Pepper Lunch, but that just means it'll shrink less and get less stuck on the hot plate as well. You get a hearty serving of rice with some corn on top, pepper, and green onions. Like other sizzling plate places, you can always get pasta or udon instead of rice, if you're feeling a bit more adventurous. Super hot, filling meal that's easy to eat. Not the most flavorful sometimes, at least with what I order, and in comparison to other competitors, but hits the spot when need be.
