What happened to this place? It has sadly gone downhill and one has to wonder when they'll close. Went by on a weekend afternoon and it was dead. No receptionist. No staff walking around. And more empty tables than the eye could see. Finally some 7-10 minutes after waiting at an empty reception counter where it said wait to be seated, a disgruntled waiter that clearly looked unhappy to be at work with no service personality came out and saw us at the reception. He begrudgingly seated us at a table after trying to pass us off to sit at the bar so he wouldn't have to work. Some 5 minutes later he came with waters that he slammed down on the table. Since the restaurant business is about service and this restaurant stopped caring with no workers or workers with no interest being there except being rude, we left thereafter. No reason to patronize a place that totally didn't care enough to serve its customers. We found a different restaurant to go to. Just wondering when this restaurant will close. Little customers and little to non caring staff. Yikes! A recipe for disaster. Deserved zero stars. read more

A quick Google search made Jasper's top choice. It was also a 2 min walk from our hotel, which was great since it was raining out. We did make a reservation and were seated promptly. The atmosphere is casual and light. Our waitress seemed bored and unengaging compared to ANY other wait staff in the restaurant. They were all laughing and talking with their tables gleefully. On to the food. Not that it's a big deal, but the photos and presentation differed from website photos. I ordered the caulipoppers as an app, and my husband ordered the chili. Those two things were actually very delicious. However, both of our main entrees fell well below the mark. I ordered the creole pasta and added blackened shrimp, and my husband ordered steak with mixed vegetables and potato salad. They looked appealing but lacked seasoning, depth of flavor, or soul. The only thing with flavor on my plate was the shrimp, which was seasoned not blackened. My husband's steak was just steak as he says, but the sides were left untouched after one taste. Excellent food, creative drinks, and wonderful service at Jasper's! My family came to Jasper's at the end of my graduation weekend and the restaurant was very accommodating of our group of ten. We started out with some fun frozen drinks and appetizers. I had the "cold fashioned" which was delicious, such a fun take on a classic drink. My cousin had the frose and enjoyed it as well. We shared the caulipoppers, redrum roasted wings, and chorizo chili cheese fries. The fries were my personal favorite. My cousin had the lonestar cowboy chicken and I had the potsicker salad. We both really liked our entrees. The potsticker salad is packed with flavor and was filling and delicious! The chef was very accommodating of my cousin's peanut allergy and prepared all the dishes without peanuts. After our meals we tried all three desserts on the menu: a passionfruit cheesecake, a chocolate cake, and an ice cream sandwich. My favorite was the ice cream sandwich. It was a super unique flavor combination - strawberry sorbet and snickerdoodle. I was initially skeptical, but it ended up being my favorite one! The flavors went together so well. read more

Went for burger week and it easily exceeded my expectation. It was very lively but the service was still really good. We had ordered the smashburgers (one with a side of brussel sprouts and one with a side of potato wedges. Both were really solid burgers and we both enjoyed our sides. Id highly recommend the brussels. They told us that the kitchen was backed up, presumably due to burger week, but the waitress did an excellent job of continuisly checking up on us and asking if we need any other drinks. My first visit to Jasper's! Atmosphere was great, cozy and dim lighting, it was too cold to sit outside but the patio looks nice! Had nice happy hour options on drinks, apps, and food. BTW, they have "the good ice". Caulipoppers were great! Cauliflower still had a snap to it/not soggy which I prefer. Batter was good but I think it could use a bit more seasoning. The pea pesto was ok, red bell pepper essence was good but could use a bit more, but by far my favorite was the creamy feta! I got the cowboy chicken and it was massive and delicious! Very crispy and the brioche bread was like a Texas toast - very good! Potato wedges were well seasoned. Another person got shrimp and goodies appetizer as a meal. Wanted more shrimp less goodies for a meal. As an appetizer we are not sure how this would be very shareable beyond the shrimp. Another person got the Jasper burger. We had been hoping to get to Jasper's for some time, but, like many things, it seemed every time we planned our visit, we were trumped by a different offer. Enter a friend and his wife who felt we needed a pick-me-up. We did! Fortunately, he had made a reservation (recommended) and we met there for a quick feed. I ordered a boring old spaghetti bolognaise. It was superb, huge, and filled with an elephant load of incredible meat sauce. This place is is really good. Everything we had was incredible, (Caulipoppers, wonton salad and Catfish Tostadas). Lots of flavors in each which went really good together. They have a brunch on Saturdays and Sundays, and they have special Mimosa pricing. (Enter ear-to-ear grin here). * I did have a burger here late, after a long night out downtown. But I'll let you figure out why I "can't" review it. I will say from what I "remember" it was yummy!!!!! I do suggest Jaspers for lunch. I can't wait to go back to Nashville, definitely going to have dinner here. The location is right off WestEnd. Parking lot turned into a paid lot, but you can get three hours validated with QR code in the restaurant. That seemed a little cheesy to me to turn the lot into a paid lot and hassle of having to get license plate in system and validate. Restaurant inside is similar to the previous restaurant that occupied the space with the exception of creating a separate area for a market. Which was a good use of the old brewery section. Food and service were nothing to rave about. Just ok. I came with a work group and one of the appetizer's we ordered didn't come out. So, we just canceled the appetizer and there was no sorry or anything. I saw many pictures of hamburgers on Yelp and should have ordered that. But, decided instead to go for the chimichanga; which, was very different and not a Mexican dish style. I should have taken a picture of cutting into it. Big chunks of chicken inside with a cream sauce. The outside is the fried shell, but topped with feta cheese and a tomato type sauce but not salsa. The mixed greens on the side were good. You can tell that old oil was being used from the taste because it had a burnt after taste without any burns. For entrees we got steak frites and the cajun pasta. The Cajun pasta lacked any flavor, it was completely bland. The steak frites was dry and it looked like it was supposed to be for a fajita. I asked for medium rare and I got well down. Absolutely LOVE it here! It was right around the corner from our hotel, so we stopped by twice while visiting Nashville. Not only is this a restaurant, but it's also a fun place to hang out at. They have a section with a bunch of board games and some free arcade games (basketball, skeeball, air hockey), so of course this is what we did after we ate. They also have an outdoor section, but we didn't get a chance to see that. Some of the dishes I tried included the cauliflower wings, fries, garlic parmesan chicken wings, mozzarella sticks, brussel sprouts, and the lone star cowboy chicken sandwich. Everything was so good, but the brussel sprouts were some of the best I've ever had. They were tossed in a delicious sauce that had a bit of a kick. On top of the food and games, the service was also incredible. The manager even recognized us the second time we came and thanked us for stopping by again. This is one of my favorite spots in Nashville, so I truly can't recommend it enough! read more

I was pretty happy with my visit to Jasper's. I came in a little spastic due to some of the day's events that spiraled beyond my control. Once I sat down, got some time with my friend, and had a drink - all was better in the world. Seriously, our service said she was a psychology major. I am not bragging about being a mess, but what I am recognizing is that our 'cool as a cucumber' bartender/server was really a bright light to my day. My friend and I got happy hour. It was everything we had hoped it to be from drinks down to the apps. Plus, with a Yelp check-in, you get a free shareable item. I think it is also applicable to Google check-in as well. I think my favorite items were the caulipoppers and the Jasperita. The cauliflower was really tasty and the spreads that come with it added to the experience. The wings were good, but a little dry. All in all, this is a solid happy hour spot. I would be interested in trying their dinner as well. We enjoyed ourselves. read more

RUN, do not walk, to this new Deb Paquette opening. YALL. I don't know the last time, especially during COVID, that I've left a restaurant and found ZERO flaws. Let me tell you. We sat at the bar, which is a pentagon shape, super open and very socially distanced. The bartender, Jen, was INCREDIBLE. She was friendly, funny, attentive, and so knowledgeable about the menu. The general decor is light, green, and airy, which is so refreshing in midtown. We could not get enough of the food and drink. They have $5 mimosas - great portion size and good OJ to champs ratio - which Jen advertised as "cheaper than a Starbucks", which I appreciated. We ordered the queso to start, which was a HUGE portion complete with black beans and chorizo. For entrees, I had the potsticker salad, which was healthy and fresh yet filling and delicious. My boyfriend had the creole roll, which was generous on the seafood. Everything was well priced for the quality. Overall, we left with full bellies and smiles on our faces. I hate to share the secrets of this new hidden gem, but I know how important it is to not keep good places to myself during these hard times for the restaurant industry! we will be back, and often! read more

I'll start by saying the hot chicken sandwich is HOT. I ordered "a little heat" and I was sweating. Two of the guys from my party that also ordered it stopped eating after two bites. I think they need to warn people that it doesn't have a small "kick" it freaking burns. For that reason I cannot give it anymore than 2 stars. Our appetizers also never made it out to the table and when we asked where they were the waitress couldn't answer and offered to reorder while they were delivering the food. Well, this is a tough review. The atmosphere was really nice! It has the right vibe between relaxed and more upscale. They have a large drink menu and the cosmo I tried was not too sweet, which was nice. The issue came was around the food. I ordered a turkey wrap without avocado, and when it arrived, it looked as if there was not any turkey in the wrap. I was told it was there, just pushed to the bottom....well on one side of the wrap it was, but on the other...there was no turkey whatsoever. It was very disappointing. I would go back and try something else for sure, but the fact they gave such little filling to a wrap is concerning. read more

Jasper's is a new eatery on West End from chef Deb Paquette (Etch, Etc.) and is located in the old Blackstone Brewery building. We ordered takeout from Jasper's on Super Bowl Sunday. I got their fried catfish tacos, nachos, and fried cauliflower (cauli poppers) as an appetizer. All were excellent and the cauli poppers are very similar to the cauliflower dish at Etch (with three great sauces for dipping). The restaurant also has a bakery and pastries, so we can't wait to come back and try dessert sometime. This is another excellent offering from chef Deb and has a menu of great apps that will be the star of your next social gathering (post-covid!) read more

Popped in here for a quick brunch this past weekend. The restaurant is huge, with high ceilings and lots of natural light. The staff was very attentive and friendly.
