Jasmine Thai has, for a while now, had the reputation of being the best Thai restaurant in the Schenectady area. However, I honestly think Pho Queen has stolen their thunder. Jasmine Thai is generally pretty tasty, but both their speed of service and quality of food are inconsistent. Most recently, I ordered takeout and the chicken was so chewy, it was inedible. My husband & I were delighted to find Jasmine Thai Restaurant in Rotterdam, NY. We ate lunch there & enjoyed restful music as we chatted over Pot Sticker & Spring Roll appetizers. Lunch was Red Curry with Chicken & Mushroom & Ginger with Chicken followed by Fried Bananas with Vanilla for dessert. The food here is pretty good. I would recommend the Duck Curry with the pumpkin in it. That is by far the best dish. To drink, the Thai Iced Tea is very nice as it is not too sweet. The only knock on this place is service. One meal (on Valentines Day) took us three hours and the everyday service can definetly be better. read more

If you are looking for authentic this is the place. The chef here is clearly the real deal. This is a most stop especially if you have never had Thai. Also a must stop if you love Thai. I ordered the shrimp yellow curry and it was amazing, the veggies and shrimp were cooked perfectly, the curry had a great blend of being slightly spicy and sweet due to the coconut milk. Great atmosphere, clean, excellent customer service. I came in around 8:30pm with my fiancé for dinner. I was in a pretty bad mood but the waitress was so kind I left in a much better temper. The food was great, but not the best I've had (but to each their own tastes). Apparently my brother comes here often and is a favorite spot of his. I'd definitely come here again, a wonderful find in Schenectady. Curry puffs are delicious. We ordered yellow curry and mango curry for reference. Good miso soup and ginger salad actually was made with green leaf lettuce instead of iceberg with carrot strings and generous portion of ginger dressing. We had lunch specials; spicy tuna roll and crab roll, both excellent and I had my old standby Pad Thai. Wish I didn't like it so much so I would try other dishes. Amazing Food! Great Service! We live in Rotterdam so we were so psyched that a Thai restaurant arrived just blocks from our house. We have been there several times and each time we have left quite full and satisfied. We have brought several of our friends and family members who are now hooked. I have tried the drunken noodles, some sort of rice dish, the spring rolls, and mango curry (highly recommended). All are truly amazing. Their plum sauce is to die for! They dont make all of the dishes super spicy (the mango curry was medium), but they will ramp up the heat if you ask. The restaurant is located on upper Broadway in Schenectady. Although it appears to not be a spectacular area, it is fine. The decor is nothing special, but the linens and silverware are clean. The hostess is incredibly sweet and meets you in traditional Thai garb. The place is never packed, but I truly hope this place can make it. Really enjoyed it. Sorry it took so long to go there. We went on a Friday evening and sad to say we were the only ones in there but was happy to see a lot of people coming in for take out. I hope they last. We started with the crispy turkey meatball app. They were very tasty. I got the a curry dish and it was nice to have an option for two kinds of rice or noodles. Very flavorful and nice amount of heat. My partner got a fish dish which I didn't pay attention to but he loved it and ate the entire thing. "Call 911, Ha, Ha, Ha." If you are allergic to MSG, don't go to this restaurant. Their extensive menu uses package sauces and they have no idea which ones contain MSG. The kitchen could not cook any menu item using anything but these packaged sauces. My wife and I along with another couple visited the restaurant for dinner on April 21, 2015. Based on the reviews, we were excited to try out this restaurant. Our visit quickly turned south when I asked the waitress if there was any MSG in their food offerings. She advised me that it was difficult to eliminate the possibility of MSG in any of their food items Since, I am very allergic to MSG, the waitress suggested grilled salmon with oil, salt, lemon and no sauce with plain steamed vegetables with white rice. I agreed that would be fine. My dinner arrived, via the cook, with two nice pieces of salmon, steamed vegetables and white rice. I sampled the salmon with two nice small flakey pieces that were properly cooked. I then became aware of a thin layer of sauce on top of the salmon and stopped eating. The waitress walked by and I caught her attention and asked what was on top of the salmon. She said it was sauce and I reminded her that I had requested no sauce. Then she said it was garlic. I said, How, do you get a sweet taste from garlic?" Reluctant to take the incorrect dinner away, she said, "Are you okay with that?" And I said "I am not okay with that" and she picked up the plate and returned to the kitchen. About 12 minutes later my dinner arrived. Apologies were not offered. What was on the plate was one piece of salmon, not two as on the original plate, with fresh vegetables. The four of us at the table quickly recognized the piece of salmon was the exact same shape of the untouched piece of salmon that was on my first plate. However, the sauce had been scrapped off. I reluctantly removed the top and bottom layer of salmon and ate the rest hoping the sauce had not penetrated the rest of the salmon. Later on, the waitress inquired if I was feeling okay and I told her, if she would give me her phone number I would let her know tomorrow. She said "Call 911, Ha, Ha, Ha." Needless to say, I didn't appreciate her humor. Later that evening, I developed a severe MSG headache, which lasted into the evening of the following day. read more
