Delicious food, kind people, and reasonable prices. I have a sensitive stomach and often get indigestion, acid, or mild food poisoning when eating out. But the food from this place is so wholesome, it feels like I ate a delicious home cooked meal(although certainly made by a better chef than me haha), it's always consistent, very great quality! This is a small detail but the containers the food comes in is also very great quality, they're actually microwavable. I love the pad thai, their combination fried rice, their potstickers which comes with a very delicious sauce I really wish I knew how to make at home, their thai egg rolls are amazing, not to mention the sweet and sour sauce is absolutely to die for!! Their crab ragoons are amazing too, very perfectly crunchy top part and a unique but satisfying shape, forever my favorite crab ragoons, and I hate seafood. Also served with that amazing sauce! If you want your taste buds to feel like you ate a box of ginger bread cookies this is your place. Had the Pad Lad Nar, Pad Thai and Red Curri. Red curri was great. However the Pad Lad Nar and Pad Thai were too sweet, not sure if they use brown sugar or piloncillo, the sugar overpowered all the other ingredients. The veggies were a bit dated and the lemon wedge we got with the Lad Nar had a thick brown ring around it, not the freshest. The Lad Nar tasted a bit fishi, not sure if this uses fish suace but it did not go well with the chicken. Also had the Tom Kaha and had more onions than expected, no lemon grass at all. I would highly recommend this place. I ordered the Spicy Basil, which is as the title states, spicy. The waitress gave me an option of 1 through 10 on how spicy I wanted my meal. I said a 6, and it was a very good spice. I also ordered the Thai Ice Tea. The plate size is reasonable for the price. A meal for two will run around 20-40 dollars. However, if that's too high or you just don't feel like spending too much, then consider showing up between 11am and 3pm for the lunch specials. I have not tried any of the lunch specials but other reviewers thought it was worth mentioning. Overall, your looking at a reasonable price establishment, a calm environment, and a satisfied stomach. I still think Thai Little Home is the best place for Thai food. So I compare all Thai restaurants to TLH. I'm old, that's what we do, get over it. But I was pleasantly surprised to find a nice Thai restaurant close to home. We first dined in mid-week and we were the only customers. It gave me pause for sure, and I was ready to walk out because the staff looked surprised to see us walk in and want to dine in. The steady stream of take-out customers answered my un-asked question. Good, at least some people order from there. The food was good, not the best I've had but worth ordering again...and we did, the 2nd time for delivery and again satisfied with our meal. Some hits, some misses. But we'll order again in the future for sure. Chicken satay--very small skewers of chicken, but still very tender and tasty. Beef Pad See Ewe--MY FAVORITE. Nice portion of beef to noodles. Flavorful. Chicken Rama--very good. tons of fresh carrots and broccoli cooked perfectly, still a nice crispness to them. The chicken, tender as well. the peanut sauce was delicious. Red Curry--a little to salty for my taste but had a good heat. Thai Fried Rice with shrimp--the least favorite, it had a sweetness to it that I found unappetizing. I added a lot more soy sauce to make it more savory. We ordered for delivery and it was pretty prompt and the delivery guy was really nice. We had the egg rolls which were ok but I'm not really into fried foods. The spring rolls were just ok & loosely wrapped. I would have preferred they were wrapped tighter and in clear spring roll wraps not the pasty wrap they used. The peanut sauce was really good, though it is difficult to screw up peanut sauce. We also had Pad Thai. It was pretty good, not the best I've had but definitely a solid choice. Ok, Weird review. Weird because I haven't eaten here. I wanted to. I mean, i planned to when I drove over there. jasmine rice is a little place on narraganset just south of belmont. It was a good day that day. the sun was out, traffic was light and as luck would have it, i found a parking space right in front of the restaurant. I hopped out of my car, and walked in. with a simple twist of the knob i push the door open. suddenly and without warning im slapped across the face with the smell of old wet dirty rags. the place smells horribly bad. I dismiss it, and wait to be seated. the waitress walks up and asks if im dining in. i say yes and she points to a table and says, 'have a seat" i pull out the rickety old seat and sit down. i have no idea what held that chair together. i can't help but notice that the decor is pretty lackluster and they're blasting country music. the whole time the waitress is walking around the restaurant yelling over the music keeping a conversation with someone sitting on the other side of the joint. The stink is getting to me, but i held firm. I figured id try the sushi. I ask what their california roll was and she said it was avacado and cucumber. but that its cooked. huh? i thought. "avacado and cucumber?" i asked. "yes" she replied. "cooked?" i said with a bewildered tone. "yes" she said. "all our sushi is cooked. nothing raw". I said, "oh ok" at that point, the smell, the yelling, the country music, and now the cooked sushi was just too much. I politely gave back the menu and said "well, thanks anyway" and walked out. I've seen some good reviews for jasmine rice online and i remember eating at this place about 10 yrs ago when it was in another location. Don't remember the food though so I can't imagine it was too great but you never know. I've only been here for lunch. They have a fantastic lunch special for $6.25!! It includes: a cup of tasty Thai chicken-noodle soup, a choice of an eggroll or spring-roll appetizer, a little cucumber salad, and your choice of about twenty entrees. Very yummy Ginger Chicken, Garlic Chicken, and extremely yummy Curries. It's located in a residential strip of the street, you could miss it if you weren't looking for it. Excellent service. It started with the delivery man where he was arguing and cursing at the neighbors because they wanted him to move his vehicle to the side so they could get through. I ordered the crab rangoon, chicken satay, egg rolls, pad thai chicken, thai fried shrimp, chicken teriyaki, and mixed vegetable shrimp. I was not able to taste the difference between any of them other than the teriyaki sauce. It looked as if they scrapped the rice from the bottom of the pot and put it into containers for me. I have eaten at this place numerous times, I love this place. The chicken panang is fucking amazing. The crab rangoon is fucking amazing. I love sitting down at this place and drinking 6 tall boys of PBR and talking to the crazy old man that says panang should be made with weed. I agree with him wholeheartedly. But today was a different day. I was eating and I noticed a cockroach was crawling his happy ass all over the walls and what not. I was kind of high from smoking a bowl earlier but I was certainly not imagining this. This place is fucking filthy and I will never recommend it to anyone, ever. My sinuses are a bloody mess thanks to the incense burning in this place. Just stupid for a restaurant to be "Non Smoking" and yet burn incense, which many people are sensitive to. I woke up late this fine Sunday afternoon and when my husband and our friend in the next room were deliberating over what to do I jumped at the opportunity to suggest FOOD. We typically head over to Jess Cafe when it comes to Thai food but we thought we'd do something different today. Let me tell you, it was a waste of time. We were very hungry and wound up waiting something like 50 minutes for our three meals to come. I'm glad we'd ordered an appetizer--the spring rolls. They were lackluster but helped us not eat the tablecloth while we waited. And waited. And waited. I've never had more bad things to say about a restaurant. Even the water tasted funny and was disgustingly unrefreshing. While waiting we were tortured by the worst music. At first it was funny to joke that our friend was being culturally insensitive because didn't he know everyone listens to second rate boy bands in Thailand? But when the rest of the country ballads and smooth jazz managed to give us all ticks, we'd had enough. When our food came--I had the Pad Kei Mao with vegetables, my husband had the Noodle Supreme with vegetables and our friend had the Bangkok chicken. Our friend was just glad to have some food in front of him finally, but my husband and I were equally unimpressed by our food. Too salty, not spicy, and too small of portions. If you're in the neighborhood, head over to Jess Cafe--they have much of the same on the menu (if not more), plus way faster service, huge portions, and the service is typically fantastic. I met some friends for dinner there on a Saturday & was a little worried over what to find because of the negative reviews. All I can say is Kevin G. must have been stoned out of his mind. The place was way cleaner than most of the Thai places I've been to in this city. The owners must have finally heard enough people asking for the music to be turned down, because there was some kind of Thai-pop in the background, but it wasn't at all loud. So, what about the food? It was good. I'm not going to rave about it, but I was happy. I had the Mussaman Curry Beef, which was nicely spiced & had good quality, fresh ingredients. The spring rolls were better than average as well. The Thai Iced Coffee was ok. A little weak for my taste, but I'm a hopeless caffeine junky, so your mileage may vary. The portions were generous, but not huge. I was famished & still had a little bit left over. So, is it worth trucking out to Belmont & Narragansett if you live in Rogers Park? Heck no! There are lots of amazing, inexpensive Thai places in town. Opart Thai & Arroy Thai in the Lincoln Square/Ravenswood neighborhood are two of my faves, but if you live on the Northwest side don't let the stoners & posters from the competition stop you from ordering from Jasmine Rice or dropping in for a good meal. read more

I don't usually review places, but I was surprised to see this restaurant so poorly rated so I thought I'd speak up in its defense. This is one of the best Thai places I've been to in Chicago. Comfort food Thai that is great quality and the prices are on par with other restaurants in the area, but their portions are double the size. I have enjoyed their appetizers (shu mai, eggrolls, rangoon, satay, pot stickers, etc.) as well as some soups, curries, and noodle dishes, and have not been disappointed. They also offer a few entrée items that are Japanese and Chinese food (which I can't speak for, having only eaten the Thai options there.) I get delivery from here and also have dined in a number of times. No complaints. If you're looking for great Thai food with generous portions, this is the place. read more

This place is on my way home from work...so is a convenient place to stop in for some carry out. I'm not sure where the issues with the place being clean come from. Sure...it hasn't been redecorated in the last decade...and it's more "neighborhood place" than date night...but it's not smelly. I've never seen any little brown buddies either. I've also never had a problem with the speed of the service. It's made to order...so no...it's not as fast as going to Panda Express...but I think my longest wait has been 15 minutes...and that was a pretty complicated order. It only gets four stars because it's GOOD Thai food...but nothing out of the ordinary. Personally...I'm not a fan of maki rolls with my Thai food...so the fact they serve some sushi is just a testament to the fact the neighborhood doesn't have a sushi place. Anyway...go for casual Thai when you're craving Red Curry...and you're passing by. Don't go out of your way for it...your neighborhood Thai place is probably exactly the same. read more

Had I not seen Kevin G's review about cockroaches crawling around in broad daylight, I would've been a weekly regular here to this day. I did, in fact, used to eat here or get take out very frequently when it first opened. Everything I tried was pretty damn good, especially given the fact that it's a random Thai place in the middle of nowhere (as far as dining goes). I was SO thrilled to have good Thai food a few blocks away from me, it seemed like a fuckin' luxury. Great appetizers, spicy noodles, Pad Thai, curries... Just everything, seriously. However, I do have to admit that I stopped coming here ever since I saw that review a few months ago. :( While I feel that tons of restaurants probably have some kind of covert critter/sanitation issue that patrons aren't aware of, I just can't stomach eating somewhere where this issue has surfaced. There's been times I've considered it, but just couldn't bring myself to do it. Rats, sure; cockroaches, ughhh... *suppresses shudder* So, I'm very skeptical now, and its remote location further leads me to question the freshness of the food/cleanliness of the establishment. Which is a shame, since I really did love the shit out of this place. However, if you're more forgiving than I am, I do have to say that they have some really, really great food and I almost wish I never found out what I did, goddamn it.
