The food was excellent. Definitely try the Creme Brule it was fantastic. The restaurant is in the Melrose hotel. It will be on the right as you enter the hotel, a bit hard to see.

We enjoyed our breakfast at Jardenea. But more than the food was the service. We felt cared for as we were facing some of the most difficult times in our lives. Our granddaughter was here being treated for a very serious illness, PANDAS, and the employees of the hotel as well as this restaurant went out of their way to comfort us. I will never forget it! I look forward to the day when we can return to enjoy Georgetown and all it has to offer. For now, this hotel was our welcome mat to the city. Thank you!

We arrived at the Melrose Georgetown Hotel later than we anticipated, and we had tickets for something that started in less than 90 minutes. We spoke to Concierge to see if they had any recommendations for a bite to eat and they suggested Jardena because it was located right in the hotel. They were so accommodating... they even had a ride waiting for us as soon as we were done eating. After we explained to our waiter that we were in a bit of a hurry, he was quick in getting everything out to us and his service was impeccable. The bread they served was very good, with three different options for spreading/dipping and the meals were top notch as well. Very flavorful & yummy!! We were so glad that we ate here. On our next visit to DC, we will definitely be back!!

Staying at this hotel and didn't want to go find a restaurant in the hurricane. We got all of the happy hour items. Brussel sprouts were amazing! Chicken wings were good too. I also really loves the orzo lobster Mac and cheese, but it's just orzo.... no noodles. Definitely not the same as Mac and cheese but surprisingly good. Less filling. I was still hungry after sharing all of this so I ordered the bay crab soup. My server also brought me these amazing cheesy rolls without me even asking. It was soooooooooo good! I'm from CA and have a high expectation for seafood. This was amazing. I practically licked the bowl. The rolls were to die for. The pomegranate martini was equally amazing. Not too sweet, which I love. I told friends in the area to pop in for happy hour ($7) drinks and food and that soup!!!!!! Great service too.

Had a work lunch today and very mixed reviews. Soft shell crab appetizer is delicious. Two small crispy soft shell crabs with wilted spinach. I would NOT recommend getting the lobster rolls. They are drenched in mayo to the point I couldn't taste any lobster. The homemade chips were very tasty. There are 3 small sliders and 2 of us ordered it and everyone tried a little, all 6 sliders were picked at but not eaten. They should remove this item from the menu. The service was just so-so. We had a group of 9 people and we were constantly looking for a server for something.

Located inside Melrose Hotel, Jardenea is a well hidden farm-to-table restaurant that is both comfortable and modern at the same time. I was looking for a restaurant that I had not tried before, was within walking distance of the Foggy Bottom metro, and quiet enough where I could talk with my companions and Jardenea definitely fit the bill. Thank you to all of the Yelpers whose rave reviews led me here. As soon as I sat down, our server stopped by with a basket of bread. When the third diner sat down, she stopped by with even more bread. Finally! A restaurant who understands that carbs is the way to a guest's house. The lunch menu is pretty basic: flat breads, salads, sandwiches and pasta. I opted for the un-diet friendly wild salmon with fettucine. The size portion was perfect, the sauce was creamy and fresh, and the fried capers added a great texture. In fact, I am going to start requesting fried capers on EVERYTHING from now on. I never was a fan of regular capers, but this was heaven. My dining partner got the spiced ahi tuna served with grilled pineapple, lettuce and Macademia nuts. The presentation was spectacular but it came out a little bit overcooked. For lunch, it was a pretty solid if not a little bit boring. I'd love to come back for their full dinner menu where they have more exciting options. Also, worker bees: check out their 5,5,5 happy hour with $5 drinks, appetizers, and $5 off dinner entrees.

Cherry Glen Farms Goat Cheese Salad - Shaved Beets and Baby Arugula, Marcona Almonds

3.5 stars (4 stars if only rating the food) Service The service was pretty good, but I felt like our server kept trying to push us to order more... Maybe it was his tone? Maybe it just seemed like he was being really persistent? I don't know. Location/Atmosphere And the location was not great--literally the lobby of the Melrose. We felt the cold draft from the lobby door all night. And for some reason, even though it was almost empty (there probably was no need for us to make a reservation), it was super loud. Either a) all the people that ate there are obnoxious or b) the acoustics were just really bad. I mean, in the middle of our meal there was a huge group of men in business suits chattering loudly as they passed us... And finally the bathroom was all the way outside into the hotel lobby and downstairs. Kinda awkward. The Food Their raisin bread came warm and delicious. Mmm was hard not to eat the basket of them Cherry Glen Farms Goat Cheese Salad with Shaved Beets and Baby Arugula, Marcona Almonds (I declined the Orange Blossom Honey Vinaigrette) - pretty good. The arugula wasn't bitter at all, the beets were cooked just right, and I loved the refreshing presentation (I feel like it's almost always cubed). In this dish they were sliced with the creamy (not too strong) goat cheese smashed between slices. And I love Marcona almonds, which was a great addition to the dish. Pistachio crusted Atlantic Salmon with Braised endive and roasted brussel sprouts - pistachio crusted anything. Gimme gimme gimme!! So... I actually am allergic to orange so I asked for a swap out of the sauce, and I wasn't a huge fan of the onion base that it came on. The salmon was really good though, as were the brussel sprouts and tomatoes. Chef's choice: Chocolate torte-very rich, but pretty delicious. Loved loved loved the hazelnuts. And the creme and chocolate 'wafer' (it was all chocolate) set it all off. I might come back for the food--one of the few restaurant week places where I actually had trouble deciding what I wanted! But honestly, the location isn't great, and the environment itself isn't conducive to a classy sit-down meal at this price... Definitely tell me when the chef goes somewhere else!!

What a fantastic and comfortable dining experience! We were staying in the hotel and has heard good things about the restaurant but had not tried it! One evening, we had retired to our room early for a nap and woke for a late dinner. We went downstairs and found the staff to be delightfully friendly and accommodating! We were seated immediately and offered an array of appetizers from which we selected the Chilled Peach Soup! What a deliciously refreshing soup for such a hot day. For our entrée, we both selected the Hawaiian Sea Bass. It was light with just the right amount of sweet flavor for a hot summers evening. Enjoy!

For various reasons, we decided to do thanksgiving out this year versus at home. That was actually tough because so many restaurants were closed for thanksgiving. I ran across this place and was pleasantly surprised that for a restaurant inside a hotel, it was farm to table with great options for everyone in the family. (We were eight, with some vegetarians, some gluten free, some vegan, some didn't care) For thanksgiving they had a traditional turkey plate, but we all ordered off their special menu for the day. I had the crab bisque and the lemon risotto. Others had the salmon, crab cakes, sea bass, and pork tenderloins. So we pretty much covered everything on the menu. The bisque was a little salty, but everyone seemed to enjoy everything on the menu. The staff was attentive (we made reservations, but when we got there we seated ourselves as there does not seem to be a host to receive and sit you) and very nice. They had some very nice cocktails as well. All in all I would say this is a worthwhile place and given that they were open on thanksgiving deserves some credit. I am not sure that this was the A team cooking or serving, given the day, so will need to go back to see how different it is on a regular day. BTW - the hotel was not too shabby.

The space itself is bright and airy and a bit on the noisy side. But the service was very good, and the food was served quite quickly. I've been on a shakshuka kick lately, so I opted for the the Sweet Potato Shakshuka, which is described as: Sweet Potato Curry, with Chickpeas and Sunny Eggs with a the chicken add-on - gotta get that protein in, after all. This was one of the most unique shakshukas I'd ever had... It literally tasted like a curry dish you might get at your local Indian restaurant, with a bit of a brunch flair to it. The curry itself had a wee bit of spice and was a bit sweet - but that could have been from the sweet potatoes. The chicken was served in a bowl on the side, which felt a bit... odd... I would've expected it to be incorporated into the main dish. It was kind of bland and a bit lukewarm, so I don't know that I'd order that again... but I would definitely order this again!

The Tikka dish with fried egg was tasty, but wish paneer or larger protein option was built-in (not an upcharge)! The creamy red Tikka curry sauce, caramelized onions, crispy brussel sprouts, and fried ere tasty and paired well, the dish felt incomplete and something was missing, maybe some paneer or naan? I paid $5 for a side of zesty naan topped with different spices and really wish it came with the dish just came with it. While I was tempted to order the falafel, I couldn't justify shelling out another $5 for another upcharge and spend $10 on them for a total of $26 for just an entree - when these 2 upcharges should have been included in the entree by default. Wish there were more fun vegetarian dishes on the menu. Might come back for drinks and to explore the menu!

Novice was the bartender and recommended the Proper burger. I added my typical fries and a Diet Coke. The burger came out quickly. Right off the bat, it's visually amazing. A properly stacked Burger is hard to find. The 2 best things about this burger are 1. The taste , and 2. The form of the burger. The taste is absolutely fantastic. The Gouda paired perfectly with the red onions and the perfectly cooked, juicy beef patties. The aioli was just enough and not overbearing, like looking at a painting of a castle and noticing the subtle blurred background of misty forest. The arugula added another layer of flavor that helped kick this burger into the highest echelons of Burger superiority. And of course, the brioche bun was perfect for this style of burger. It kept its shape while I gently smushed it down in my hands. The entire burger kept its shape and didn't fall apart like some other Burgers will. As I sank my teeth into the first bite, the first thing I noticed was all the flavors blending together. Each bite afterwards just added to my mystified and puzzled bewilderment. The texture was moist and soft. As I chewed and swallowed each morsel, I began to think to myself, is this it? Is my search over? Is this the BEST burger in the country? Never had I tasted such a wonderful burger! (Sorry In-N-Out 2x1, raw onions, chopped chilis, toasted bun, you are no longer on the top of my list). As I neared completion of my newly discovered epitome of gluttonous desires, a feeling of sadness started to take over. I would be done with the burger in a few more bites, and with that, my journey would conclude. I sat there, staring at what would be my final bite. The last bit of pleasure in between my slender fingers, still dripping with the juices God had placed there after it was grilled to perfection in the Kitchen. I placed the final delectable piece into my mouth. I spent what felt like an eternity chewing this treasure before finally gulping down the goblet of wonder. What came after was a feeling of pure bliss. I had finally done it. All the years, all the time dedicated to finding the best Burger ever, is complete. I called my wife and told her "Honey, it's time. I'm coming home." The fries were ok.
