Came at 12pm with my grandparents and we're not able to have hibachi for lunch, they said they didn't have a spot for three people. We decided to order off the regular menu. I had the salmon lunch box. I really enjoyed the salmon, it was very flavorful and moist. I wish my box would have come with sweet potato tempura, other then that just your average box. I also ordered a crunch roll, it was pretty good. I would have like a little more sauce on the top tho. Can't remember the last time I was here. My cousin invited us for dinner, how could I say no to that. Luckily there was a teppanyaki cancellation so our party of 5 was able to be seated quickly. I had the standard teppanyaki chicken, which was prefaced with a salad and mushroom broth. Veggie fried rice was followed by zucchini and onion, a couple of shrimp as an appetizer, cubed chicken breast and lots of mushrooms (which I love) and finally some bean sprouts. This place has gone downhill pretty fast. I used to come here a lot but stopped because I was going to another Teppanyaki place. So far my experience with my return here isn't a pleasant one. The hostess was rude. The waitress was impatient and looked like she hates being here. The place is filthy. It's a hurry up and get these people in and out of here atmosphere. Booked a private event there for a baby shower and so far it was good...room of at least 15-20 ladies. There were two small table in the rooms were we could set up a party favor table/snack and a gift table. This was Teppanyaki style lunch so of course you sit and watch as the chef prepare your food first they bring out your soup or salad, then the chefs comes in and cooks the fried rice first, then the veggies, then at last your meat/protein you choose. I honestly can't finish a plate so I didn't mind sharing with another person. They do charge for spicy mayo sauce that's why they ask you ahead of time if you want it!!! Fried rice: 3.5/5 typical fried rice but I've had it at other teppan places before and flavoring was a bit better. Veggies: 4/5 great taste! Zucchini, onions, and bean sprouts which is a first I've seen for teppan.... We decided to come here on a weekday night to get a quick bite to eat. We opted for the dinning instead of the teppanyaki since there was just the two of us and a wait for teppanyaki. The food was delicious and service was fast, we were in and out of there within an hour. A great first experience. If you're expecting a fancy resturant this is not it, the decor is a bit run down and I would describe it as a hole in a wall resturant. When you first walk in you can tell that this is a restaurant that has been here forever. Not to say that's it's dirty or unkempt, it just looks the kind of decor you might see as the "before" house on an episode of Fixer Upper. No sleek contemporary design here, people. Instead you will see the dark wood and dim lighting of a restaurant that has obviously been serving sushi since sushi was a new thing here in the states. There should be some sort of historical marker on the front door. The restaurant dining areas are literally divided in two. Sushi to the left, teppanyaki to the right. This review only speaks to the left side. I dare not cross the line. Remember on old tv shows how people who shared rooms would get mad at each other and hang a sheet across the middle of the room to protect their side? I am fairly certain that's what is happening here. Sushi-Side said something about Teppanyaki-Side's mother and everything went to hell after that. Oh, I'm sorry, you actually wanted to hear about the food? Right. Onward. So, it's solid. Extremely fresh and presented in a pretty, but overall pretty standard way. I would definitely say it's a good value for the quality. The butterfish nigiri was a real standout. So fresh and delicate, I immediately ordered another serving after finishing it. Delicious. Also memorable was the Red Dragon roll. I came here with some family who live in the area. It's one of their very favorite places. My Uncle swore he would build a jail cell out of their spicy tuna rolls and eat his way to freedom. We sat at the sushi bar where the chefs were extremely friendly and definitely enhanced our overall experience. In the end, it's not the greatest sushi restaurant I've been to by any stretch, but I can certainly see why it's been here (and popular) for many years. read more

First time here. Sat at the sushi bar. Lets starts with the food. Not good. Not worth the money. Hot spicy chicken was awful. There was added frozen mixed veggies. Carrot, corn, pea mix.... I don't understand why. The salad is noodles drenched in mayo. The sushi was just sad. Beyond basic. Flavorless. Now for the sushi chef/cook.... Neither one had gloves on. Fine. As long as they're washing hands often, and being mindful. But our sushi chef/cook took off his hat and several times used a washcloth to wipe the sweat from his head. Called in to make a reservation for 6, they took down name and phone number. On reservation day, 4 minutes before reserved time, our party 6 came into the restaurant. Receptions and manager said that they can't find reservation. From phone recent call log, the number was dialed, and the manager picked up. This is the right restaurant. Calendar is right time. What to do when a restaurant is negligence in the way their reservation is set up. Call to make sure? We lose time, it's was hard to find another restaurant that has Taipan Yaki. Chief did not interact with any of the customers, did not put on a show, gave rice bowls to the wrong customers twice and then pulled them away and place to another customer, mixed garlic chicken with mushrooms without asking if we were okay with that. As he was leaving he stated "this just a part time job". No effort given to 1st timers experience. One niece refused the meal and they charged her without making another main dish without mushrooms. We decided to dine out for the first time since COVID. Our first visit to this restaurant. Kids we're super excited. Meal was good. Chef was fantastic. Then the kids didn't get their ice cream. When we questioned, they told us that the bill was for all adult meals, no kids meals. After discussion with the staff, even though the waitress didn't deny we ordered kids meals, they refused to adjust our bill. "They ate it didn't they?" was the rude and disrespectful response we got. So in short, we paid. So buyers beware. You think you're ordering from the menu, but maybe you should video your orders. And make sure you record serving sizes too. The restaurant is scamming customers. I know business is tough right now. But that's a crime. We have told all our friends and family about this terrible experience. We will all take our business to other establishments that aren't trying to steal their customers hard earned money. The food was so-so, and the service was awful. After being seated, my gf and I waited 10 minutes just to get menus and some drinks. We decided on the dinner box specials. For $20 you get soup, salad, main choice of meat (salmon, chicken, fried chicken, or beef), small rice bowl, various tempura, 4 California rolls, 2 egg rolls, a small pasta salad side, some dipping sauces, and ice cream for desert. At first we thought "wow, that's a great deal". The soup was basically just a small cup of broth with a few uncooked pieces of mushroom in it and the salad was chunks of iceberg lettuce with a teaspoon of vinegar dressing. The main course was pretty bland. The tempura dipping sauce had zero flavor. I'm not even sure what it was supposed to be. My other dipping sauce was just a small dish of ketchup. No soy sauce, or wasabi, or anything traditionally Japanese. The tempura had some good pieces in it, like crab and broccoli, but some really weird pieces like a piece of potato that they dipped in the frier. After we got our food, the waitress just forgot about us. My gf needed a water refill and I wanted some wasabi and soy sauce, but we eventually finished eating and were just sitting there waiting for her to come back. She eventually did and asked if we needed anything. We said we were done with the plates, and she disappeared for a few minutes before coming back with the check. I asked about the ice cream that comes with the order, and she replied "oh, right" before coming back with about a tablespoon each of what I think was supposed to be green tea ice cream, served with a fork. Who eats ice cream with a fork? I had to shove all the plates out of the way to make room. (Needs major TLC) griddle needed to be cleaned/ wiped down better as I was observing where they stand n prepare our food the knobs had build up n grease, left over food (rice) on the griddle. As for service it was ok our server was Faye as she served my drink she spilled some on the table as she was in a hurry cuz it was busy so I tried to have some patience. Fried rice doesn't need sauce it's well seasoned and savory. Customer service was 5/5 made sure we were well cared for. Attendance with other service was very attentive Peyton enjoyed his show. This place is either really good, or really bad...I come here every so often with family and we either get a really good chef, who does lots of tricks and is very interactive or a chef who is so BLAND and does zero tricks and barely speaks to the table. My most recent experience was the worst I've ever experienced...Our chef didn't talk to us unless it was to confirm our order, he didn't do any of the tricks they usually do and I ended up sitting on the end of the table, so I was served last. Since I was last, I got almost half as much chicken as anyone else and I barely got any vegetables, compared to my family who got WAY more then I did. Came here for a graduation after dinner with my big family. It was a pretty busy night and we had to share our table with another family because we filled up one whole side and a half. I sat right in the middle of two tables and got to see and compare the two chefs. They did things their own way, seasoned their own way and one had more sauce on their rice compared to the other chef. Other than that, it was just okay. Food was mediocre. Service was fine. Came here recently to celebrate a friends birthday. I had not been to a Japanese place like this in years. I have to say this place did not disappoint. It has spacious parking and the inside is spacious. We had reservations and were seated in a timely fashion. I do recommend reservations! The menu is ridiculous. With so many choices. I opted for lobster and steak with extra rice. If you have been to one of these then you know the drill. A cook comes out and pretty much gives you a show. Which is what we experienced. But this guy was good and made some great food for us to eat. We had a rather large party of about 25 people. So this guy was working. The steak was tender and the lobster was amazing. He even threw in some shrimp on my plate. Nice! The bar I have to say was not impressive. Not very good choices on the beer selection and they seemed to be out of a lot of stuff. So we made a reservation of 10 yesterday for a birthday, we got in and they sat us right away, the server (older Asian lady) took our drink order then food order... we had to ask for cups 3 times (even asked another server) but didn't get it until she started bringing out some of our food/ appetizers. I said the Godzilla and salmon skin roll she then go frustrated & had the audacity to tell me that the Godzilla roll always comes last since it takes "a long time to make & cook" which I understand but please explain to me how my brother in law got his first (same sushi roll) and even finished it while I haven't gotten my food yet, she then doesn't communicate with me but proceeds to walk up to the sushi chefs and tells them to make it which I actually wanted to cancel it because everyone got their food and was already finished with their dinner. As soon as I walked up to tell them, they said "they've already made it"... forgetting to put my order in is better to be honest then lie about it then make me wait even longer. my sister also found a piece of plastic in her imitation crab tempura which we did not take a picture of it because she took the plate right away as we addressed it (yet they still charged us which... I've been a server myself in the past 6 years we would never let that slide... the food was delicious though. We took our 6 year old grandson to Japanese Kitchen today. We sat at the sushi bar so he could watch how his favorite food is made. He eats sushi with his parents a few times a month at another local restaurant that is very well known and has multiple locations. His father told us he would not like it as he is very picky and only likes the other sushi restaurant. We have always had great food and service at Japanese Kitchen so we took him. The sushi chefs made this in his words (the best day of his life). Japanese Kitchen is now his favorite restaurant, and because of his parents job he eats at some pretty awesome restaurants all over America. I think the people here on yelp are a little too picky with this restaurant. This place is great especially for the price point. For $11-15 you get basically a full order of rice, a full order of zucchini, onions, bean sprouts, and mushrooms, your meat of choice, and a bowl of miso soup. I've been to places where they charge over $10 just for the same amount of fried rice they give you here. The Teppan chefs are always friendly and enjoyable. I love coming here! My only minor complaint would be a remodel because the place is old and needs to be repainted. read more
