We arrived last Sunday about 1:30PM for lunch. We all knew what we wanted and sat down at a table. Our waitress who was in her 70's took forever to even greet our table. When she got there we told her our drink orders and told her we were ready to order also. She ignored us and walked away to the kitchen. When she brought our drinks, we again told her that we were ready to order and she looked flustered, like she wasn't ready to take our order. She took our orders. 2 of us ordered from the sushi bar and 1 of us ordered from the kitchen. The kitchen order was delivered by our waitress fairly fast. We waited and waited for our sushi orders to no avail. Our waitress was literally delivering kitchen orders to tables that were not even her tables as we continued to wait. When she wasn't delivering other orders to tables that were not hers, she hid in the kitchen. When I was finally able to catch a glimpse at her, I tried to flag her down, she ignored me. I finally got up from our table to speak to her, the one person who ordered from the kitchen was finishing her meal, and we still did not receive our meal from the sushi side. Our waitress yelled something to the sushi guys, they yelled back at her, it was very intense. I finally got up again and told her to cancel our whole sushi order. We paid for the one meal and left. The inside and outside ambience has really gone down hill. They need an update badly. read more

Made a last min reservation for 2, at 8:30 right before closing. Everything was going great, food was yummy. Until the very end, when a roach crawled over the plate. My wife and I were apalled, disgusted. Her face turned red and stomach turned over. The roach crawled on the table, we informed the waitress as it was crawling, she then picked it up, dropped it, and smushed it on the table. Wiped it up, and took the check with our money. Came back; and said sorry, but We had to call the manager ourselves to get our money back. The whole table advocated for us to receive, at the minimum, reimbursement. First off the sushi and food here is always good when we come in. The reason for 2 stars today is the inconsistency with the kitchen. Certain chefs are willing to do certain items (that may not be on menu but made regularly) while others refuse to do so. "Juan and Jordan" seem to be the chefs willing to make those items. We had an awesome lunch Tuesday and returned (today) Wednesday only to find that the chefs working refuse to make the same meal we had yesterday. Maybe mgmt should give direction to the chefs, or replace them what can and can't be done since what he had was available one day but not the next because the chefs "didn't feel like it" read more

That's why one of the best kept secrets of Fresno, CA is their great selection of affordable AND delicious teppanyaki restaurants. Every time we visit, we try a new one and haven't been disappointed yet! With each different place having their own unique qualities that set them apart, Japanese Kitchen's has to be their Hot & Spicy sauce which is incredibly good! According to our chef, they make all of their sauces from scratch, which helps explain the quality. Lucky for me, I went with the Hot & Spicy Chicken lunch special which was amazing and my wife went with the Sukiyaki Beef and Shrimp which she loved too (I might have stolen a bite or two!). We didn't do it this time as we were driving for a while longer, but an extra side of fried rice is always great. How disgusting I went to talk to manager and asked for a different roll but she said that I have to pay the difference if the roll is more expensive or get something or refund. I am a long time customer of this restaurant- probably at least 15 years- and I have watched it slowly digress. Unfortunately it seems to have gotten caught up in cost saving practices- smaller portions and fewer servers. To my point, our lunch of sushi after church Sunday included disappointing rolls with very little seafood and more rice, and almost none of the sauce and fish eggs which was what always made this restaurant stand out from the competition, and the reason we kept coming back. This is the worst service I got from them! EVER! The chef guy from teppanyaki came out and cooked for us and less then 20 mins he's done cooking for us and left. Then the waitress girl came out with the tabs and boxes like she's rushing us to eat and get out. They give you so much food and it's all made in front of you, hot, and delicious! Came for my birthday. Everything was delicious. For the price it is worth it, both for the food and experience. We came in for lunch around 1130 when they opened and put our name down for a table of 6. There was a bit of a wait, which is understandable. We were seated a little after 12; however when we were seated it took 45 MINUTES before the chef came and started making our food. Looking around, all grills were seated, but I saw a total of only 3 chefs. For lunchtime on a Sunday. I overheard the waitress say that most of the day was booked for reservations, so they were well aware of how busy they would be before accounting for walk ins, and they only had 3 chefs. That's a scheduling fail. On to the food, I didn't even get to enjoy it as it was being made as I had to be somewhere at 1:30. The chef didn't make it to our table until 1. So I had to take it to go. Don't even get me started on how they skimped on the amount of food as well. They used to give you so much food; now, they skimp so much when I opened my to go box I thought someone had eaten half of my fried rice! They also make you pay for hot and spicy but boy do they try to give you as little as possible - my sauce cup was maybe a quarter of the way full and the chef had to top everyone off before we even used any. There are many other options in town for teppanyaki that are newer/renovated and have better service. Not to mentioned don't charge you for hot and spicy. I won't be back. read more

First time here. Sat at the sushi bar. Lets starts with the food. Not good. Not worth the money. Hot spicy chicken was awful. There was added frozen mixed veggies. Carrot, corn, pea mix.... I don't understand why. The salad is noodles drenched in mayo. The sushi was just sad. Beyond basic. Flavorless. Now for the sushi chef/cook.... Neither one had gloves on. Fine. As long as they're washing hands often, and being mindful. But our sushi chef/cook took off his hat and several times used a washcloth to wipe the sweat from his head. Can't remember the last time I was here. My cousin invited us for dinner, how could I say no to that. Luckily there was a teppanyaki cancellation so our party of 5 was able to be seated quickly. I had the standard teppanyaki chicken, which was prefaced with a salad and mushroom broth. Veggie fried rice was followed by zucchini and onion, a couple of shrimp as an appetizer, cubed chicken breast and lots of mushrooms (which I love) and finally some bean sprouts. Booked a private event there for a baby shower and so far it was good...room of at least 15-20 ladies. There were two small table in the rooms were we could set up a party favor table/snack and a gift table. This was Teppanyaki style lunch so of course you sit and watch as the chef prepare your food first they bring out your soup or salad, then the chefs comes in and cooks the fried rice first, then the veggies, then at last your meat/protein you choose. I honestly can't finish a plate so I didn't mind sharing with another person. They do charge for spicy mayo sauce that's why they ask you ahead of time if you want it!!! Fried rice: 3.5/5 typical fried rice but I've had it at other teppan places before and flavoring was a bit better. Veggies: 4/5 great taste! Zucchini, onions, and bean sprouts which is a first I've seen for teppan.... We decided to come here on a weekday night to get a quick bite to eat. We opted for the dinning instead of the teppanyaki since there was just the two of us and a wait for teppanyaki. The food was delicious and service was fast, we were in and out of there within an hour. A great first experience. If you're expecting a fancy resturant this is not it, the decor is a bit run down and I would describe it as a hole in a wall resturant.
