Some of our favorites dishes are the steamed dumplings, the spare ribs, The Chinese eggplant and beef with garlic sauce is wonderful and the dumpling soup is a favorite as well. Always a good choice to get Jan's! Even though the menu is more Americanized, I was able to get the Cantonese-style roast pork noodle soup with shrimp wontons. I also ordered the dim sum appetizer, which comes with four pieces of beef shumai (they are HUGE)! Whenever I'm in Mattituck, I need to go to Jan's at least once! read more

I'm from San Francisco and I know good authentic Chinese cuisine (Cantonese). Jan's cooks solidly good slash pretty great Cantonese yum yum. There are a changes for the East Coast audience and local gweilos but this place is sooo up there. I'm genuinely shocked that the food is so good! read more

Without a doubt, the best Chinese food in the area, and with reasonable prices. The Sesame Chicken is my go-to dish and is simply the best I've had anywhere. I've since lived in Massachusetts and Connecticut, and have not found a place that even comes close to comparing. After a terrible experience at CJ's American Grill in the same shopping center, we came across Jans Chinese Food. The whole ordeal turned out to be a blessing in disguise. We just wanted something quick after blowing nearly 2-hours at CJ's, so we sat down, ordered a few combinations, and ate. Jans is nothing fancy, but, it's VERY clean. The food was clean and fresh, the restaurant was clean, the soda was cold, and the service was good. Anyone that has eaten really bad Chinese food before will understand what I mean when I say the food was "clean". I didn't get anything fancy, just Mixed Vegetables in Garlic Sauce with Plain Fried Rice & Eggs. I told them to make it EXTRA spicy, but they didn't, that's the only reason I'm deducting a star. I also like my vegetables cooked a bit more and somewhat soft, but didn't request it, so not their fault. They also use jasmine rice for everything, which is amazing. Who doesn't love jasmine rice? So soft and fluffy and being a diabetic, I digest it better than regular rice because it's not as starchy, and heavy. One of the employees was walking around the entire time cleaning up, wiping the counters and tables down, checking on the garbage, removing trays, and just making sure everything was clean, which is super-rare in a take-out-style Chinese restaurant. Even the bathroom was clean! We live about 30-minutes west of Jans Chinese Food but will definitely travel when we're in the mood for quality Chinese food, which is more often than I care to admit. read more

Wonderfully tasty and fresh. One of the best Chinese restaurants I've had, and I've eaten Chinese in Hawaii, California and NYC. Love their Singapore Mei Fun and sauté garlic vegetables. This is basically your only shot at anything resembling NYC quality Chinese food on the North Fork. The food is great - it tastes fresh, isn't greasy, is reasonably priced and with great portions. I've tried about half the menu now, and nothing has disappointed, from the standard Chinese fast food fare like lo mein, chow fun, fried rice and beef and broccoli to their super mala trio (which had a nice kick, considering most Chinese fast food 'spicy' items really never pack much of a punch). The restaurant is clean, the takeout is packaged well, the staff is friendly and now during COVID times, every precaution you can imagine is taken to keep you safe. Great stuff! read more

Really lousy food in my opinion. I got sweet & sour chicken, fried dumplings, and an egg roll. The chicken tasted of the oil that cooked everything else. So it really wasn't pleasant. I had a couple bites and gave the rest to my dog. The dumplings were really soggy. They had all the same texture of just mush. It was neither dense nor crispy. Just.. mush. The egg roll tasted exactly like the chicken. All for $20, and not worth any of it unfortunately. read more

One of the best Chinese take out on the north fork! Quick to cook up your orders, food always tastes fresh and the restaurant looks clean! Hard to miss being tucked away in the corner of the shopping mall but you definitely will want to stop in and try your favorite dish. Both me and my roomate got severe food poisoning from Jan's. Talk about disappointing! Always a go to and will never return again. Days of vomiting and diarrhea, fevers. Nothing else to eat that day. Had the beef and broccoli. Quality control and proper food handling has gone out the window. Many days out of work. Not Covid. Was tested. Just letting others know. It's not worth the agony I'm dealing with. read more
