I was told--both verbally and in writing--that my insurance would cover 60% and 40% of the total cost of a crown and mouth guard, and I was required to pay the full $3,596.25 upfront based on that representation. This was false. My insurance ultimately covered only $279.64. After receiving my Explanation of Benefits, I contacted both the dental office and my insurance. My insurer confirmed that the office had been clearly told on the date of service that coverage applied only to the allowed amount, not the total billed amount. This critical information was never disclosed to me. I agreed to treatment solely because I was assured I would be reimbursed a specific percentage of the full cost. Since then, the office has provided inconsistent explanations, denied statements that were later proven untrue, and has not contacted my insurance again despite repeatedly claiming they were "working on it." I also requested a copy of the document I signed showing the quoted coverage, and the office failed to provide it. I have repeatedly asked to speak with the dentist or owner regarding this issue, and each time I have been told I am not allowed to speak with anyone except Ruby at the front desk. This refusal to escalate concerns or allow communication with management is unacceptable. I believe I was induced into unnecessary and costly treatment based on inaccurate and misleading information. The lack of disclosure, refusal to correct the issue, and ongoing evasiveness demonstrate a serious disregard for patient rights. I cannot recommend this office to anyone seeking honest or transparent dental care.

I had my first appointment on 3/20/26 @ 2:30 and from the moment I walked in, the front desk girl with was friendly and made me feel very welcomed. The office was super clean, nice and organized. My appointment was at 230 and I didn't have to wait long to be called back. The office coordinator/manager (I think that's what her title is) was super friendly, as she made me feel very welcomed and comfortable in my new environment. She gave me an office tour (which was cool, as I never experienced that ANYWHERE), she was very thorough with the tour, explained how the office runs and took the time to talk with me and get to ME, not just as another patient, but an actual person! They even take pride in their patients by making them feel important and appreciated with fun giveaways and going that extra mile. I was even given a goodie bag which was super cool and 100x better than a small plastic bag with a toothbrush and toothpaste from my former dentist. The gal that took my x-rays was also super friendly and nice, as she took the time to make me feel welcomed and important by explaining everything she was doing, step-by-step. While waiting for the doctor, another gal walked in (name started with a K), to check on me and to give me an update on when the doctor would be in. She offered me a beverage and put Nextflix on so I can watch while I waited (the dental assistant's at my former dentist would leave me sitting there without even saying a word to me), again, above and beyond service at Dr. Chang's dental! Once the doctor came in he was also very friendly, talked to me and actually got to know me! He put my x-rays on the TV for a better view and was very thorough with explaining my x-rays to me. The Dr. Chang was very friendly, funny and kind as we discussed our lives, my teeth It was well the worth the wait in this dentist office and VERY pleased with Dr. Chang, as I learned my teeth weren't as good as they look, and I blame my old dentist for that. Now that I'm with Dr. Chang, I can finally properly get my teeth right! I'm very thankful for the several referrals I got from people, to switch to this dental office and I'm very glad I did. I urge everyone who sees this review, to ditch your old dentist and come to Dr. Chang's office, I swear you won't feel like just "another patient" and you'll be happy you made the switch... Dr. Salman is super chill, gentle, and actually takes time to explain what's going on instead of rushing you out. The staff is friendly and makes you feel comfortable as soon as you walk in. First off Ruby is absolutely amazing. She was respectful, helpful, attentive, patient, understanding and professional. She went out her way to help me for my kids dental appointments. How did she go out her way you ask. Well she helped me in several different ways. One way she helped me was by first making an appointment for me over the phone for my two children prior to coming into the dental office. When on the phone Ruby asked if I had the blue and yellow dental insurance card with the flowers on it and I told her no I did not but I had the white and yellow IEHP medical insurance cards. She explained to me how I would need to have the boys social security numbers at their appointment for her to be able to check and see if the boys have eligibility which I found out they actually did. Thank you God! Ruby explained to me on the day of the dental appointment for my sons that normally the office staff do not call to check to see if someone has eligibility but she was kind enough to help me and go that extra mile for me and my children. Ruby told me what all I would need prior to coming in. When I got there I didn't have everything I needed because like I mentioned I did not have the boys dental insurance cards. Ruby still took great care of me and my family without the dental insurance cards being present. Now the reason that I did not have my son's dental insurance cards was because I never received them in the mail like I was told I would receive like I was suppose to. I just recently switched me and my family's medical insurances over when moving out here with my family from LA. Now when I got to the dental office for both my son's appointments at 3:30pm I was immediately taken care of by another employee worker and also by Ruby who was helping this same employee worker out with my two sons appointments. Unfortunately I did not get the other young woman's name but she was also helpful, respectful and patient with me. The entire staff was professional, friendly and helpful as a matter of fact. The doctor by the name of Dan was very knowledgeable and hands on with my sons. The young woman dentist was amazing that took care of both my children. My boys left out with literal smiles, dental goody bags and each their own free coupon meal to Cane's that Ruby gave to them on our way out. Yes! My friends and I ended up picking up some bananas here, which were pretty affordable. Tip: don't use the self-checkout line, and just go to one of the regular checkouts. They have people working those lines, and there were almost no lines! This Walmart also has a Burger King inside of it for people who want to get a quick fast food snack. Restrooms are clean and also well-maintained. Workers aren't the friendlist, but they get the job done.

Dr. Vincent and his staff welcomed me, starting with their sweet receptionist when I called to make an appointment for a toothache. The nurses are the friendliest, caring nurses who explained every detail from the procedures to financials. Dr. Vincent is a miracle worker, my pain was gone in less than five minutes, he clearly explained my situation going on now and in the coming future. The office was extremely clean, workers were happy and uplifting, which eased my tension for being at a dentist office. My other dentist's office was quiet, cold and scary to me. Could be why I did not schedule appointments unless I had a toothache. But, I will definitely be completing my annual checkups at Barstow Family Dental from here on out and you can guarantee I will get my husband in too. For anyone who feels the same, I highly recommend Dr. Vincent and his staff. They will not disappoint!
