This place gets an extra star for being a place to consistently get good food in Everett, although it is an arguable 4.5 star anyway. The service is always polite and comes across as genuinely friendly. Pho - Anyone who goes into a "full menu" Vietnamese restaurant for the first time and judges it based on the pho alone should be trusted as you would someone who would review a steakhouse based on the quality of its happy-hour cheeseburger, without trying anything else. Although this place IS a Vietnamese restaurant, it is not a "pho joint". The pho here is not great as it's kinda bland. Eat pho at places that serve basically ONLY pho, although most Vietnamese full-menu restaurants will have pho on the menu. Been here a couple times, both times food was delicious. I had Mongolian beef, it was very tasty. My son had the kung poa(not sure of spelling)chicken and he actually finished it all, so it had to be good. The hubby had the special 1 and a Vietnamese sandwich. My boyfriend and I were craving pho sooo bad. Found this place on through Yelp. Wanted to call in an order since we both were feeling a little under the weather. Tried twice to call in to make a pick-up order and no one picked up; assumed they were super busy. Pulled into the parking lot and the establishment was quite empty. I've been going to Janbo for several years now and it remains one of my favorite spots in town. The fresh spring rolls are excellent and so are the fried Vietnamese egg rolls. The tapioca smoothies and lemonades are made from fresh fruit and are always a delight... the Combo Bowl is massive, the wonton soup wonderful, and the meal comes with complimentary cream puffs at the end - we love the vanilla. I am so pleased to have witnessed Janbo Cafe grow over the years, and I imagine it will continue to do so as more and more people realize what a great little place it is. read more

This is my Favorite eatery in all of Everett. (and 2nd overall in Puget Sound) Been dining here for 15 years and have sampled every dish on the menu. I love the Vietnamese dishes best as they are clean on the pallet and so much less oily that most Chinese style. My favorites are the Crispy Pho, Chow Fun, and Vermicelli, followed by the combo bowls and their Bahn Mi. the cream puffs that come with every meal are divine. the place is small and very popular so you may wait a bit but worth it. read more

I used to live in Everett and now on Camano Island, but sometimes just have to go to Everett just for this place. What a disappointment this place turned out to be. The service was very good, the restaurant was clean, the prices were reasonable and the menu was exactly what I like. The food looked delicious....and then we tasted it. I ordered a bowl of Pho Thai and the fried almond chicken. The meat in the Pho was so overcooked it was a cross between powder and jerky. The chicken was so overcooked, it almost took out a cap I have on one of my teeth. It all tasted disgusting. My daughter didn't dislike hers as much as I disliked mine but she definitely felt that it wasn't up to snuff. I took home what I had left and ended up throwing it away. First thing I noticed was a very large spider on the wall behind my table. It didn't do anything and was merely interesting to look at but it made me wonder if their front area was this unkempt how their back area looked. I first ordered the house special pho. The beef strips were tough and fairly tasteless, and the rest of the soup was unremarkable but good. I wasn't terribly impressed, but the complimentary tea and cream puff really added to the experience, and since it was all just $7 I felt pretty good about it. The service was also superb. The real winner though was the fried rice I ordered as take out after the meal. Upon opening it up at home I found a work of true beauty. The lightly browned rice, green flecks of cilantro and onion, pink pork strips and the rest came together to form a magnificent culinary portrait. Average pho but not bad. The combo Bahn Mi was the best I've ever had anywhere in the country, and I'm a traveler. The bread is crisp yet fluffy and the meat and veggies come in generous portions and are near perfection. Pro-tip: ask for it without cucumbers. They're not pickled so it kinda throws off the amazing thing the sandwich had going. 3 stars just for the sandwich alone and another for decent, but not special pho. Janbo is very close to my work, and I keep giving it another chance after so many try's. The service is good, and very friendly. The restaurant is disgusting. you can see into the back where they prepare the food/kitchen area and it is messy, dirty and no way that they are up to health code. Each time I have sat and ate in the lobby/restaurant area, there have been flies of some sort, and the tables are cleaned with a dirty rag. They leave the tea cups turned upside down on the table, which I refuse to put my mouth on once, it has been placed on the dirty wash rag "cleaned" table. The food, is alright- but I have gotten bigger portions and better prices at a place right down the street. The free cream puff is a nice plus, but it is not always offered. I will however stop and get a bobba tea, but ONLY because it is the only place around that has them, not because it's anything special. They are also closed on Monday's which is odd. But overall, I stopped going here due to the cleanliness of the restaurant. read more

I decided that I'd give this one a try based on the good Yelp reviews, the pictures that look pretty good, and there always being several cars in the parking lot. I got an order to go, the service was quick and friendly, the prices seemed ok, and the food looked good so we were off to a good start. Unfortunately, there really wasn't any flavor. At all. To anything. The Vietnamese egg rolls were filled with ground meat and a few slivers of carrots that didn't taste like anything, but the sweet/sour type sauce that came with them was ok. The calamari appetizer didn't really taste like anything and was definitely overpriced. There was a small amount of very thin calamari rings with one or two other pieces of calamari mixed in on a huge bed of salad and pickled carrots topped with a sort of sweet chili sauce. The sauce was good, but I would have ordered salad with dressing if that's what I wanted. The chow fun didn't really taste like anything, which is weird because it seemed like everything had a nice coating of sauce. The noodles were well cooked, the beef was ok but large pieces that were awkward to eat with plenty of gristle. There were two pieces of broccoli and one baby corn in the whole dish. The Chinese style rice also looked good and had no flavor and I'm not sure I actually got the right order because there wasn't any type of Chinese sausage in it, but that may have been my fault because I wrote down the item number and they prefer the title of the dish when you order. I got the house specialty meat combo and there were two shrimp and a few pieces of gristly beef in it, but plenty of chicken and bbq pork. The soy sauce helped with the rice, because that gave it flavor, but the only flavor was soy sauce. I feel like it should really be a 2.5 star rating, but the food wasn't bad, it just didn't taste like anything so I'll give it an extra half star for quantity. Even the leftovers were incredibly bland, I'd hoped maybe more flavor would come out, but no luck. I may be back one day, I still want to try their bubble tea, but I'll have to forget how disappointed I was. There are better places in Everett for me. read more

I'm not sure what the good reviews are for. We got take out broccoli beef and orange chicken the other day, and it wasn't very good or fresh. The broccoli beef didn't have much sauce and was very dry. It kinda tasted like it was microwaved at some point. The orange chicken was kinda weird and very dry/overcooked. It had giant pieces of orange peel cooked in with the chicken. Not orange zest or small slices. It was like an orange was cut in half and the peel just thrown in. Best Vietnamese sandwiches in town! I've tried banh mi's at many different locations around town and Janbo Cafe definitely takes first place. The chicken was very moist and flavorful. The pickled vegetables were crisp and fresh. The bread was fresh and had a nice crisp outer layer, not hard bread like most places. So my daughter and I were at the Seattle Premium Outlet all day and were meeting up with my brother for dinner. We found a place nearby however it was closed. So we yelped and found this place. We were just banking on the overall really nice reviews of this place that it would be great. And it was! It is a very small place and service was not really up to par but the food was delicious. Perfect dive Vietnamese legit grub stop. Small dining area, but clean and cozy. I love the "singing chicken" here. The best condiments are already on the table. The fish sauce is crazy good. I went to Janbo last week for my first time and it was truly amazing. I did not expect it to be so great but it really was delicious. The server and waitress were extremely nice. They explained the meals and the smoothies/bubble tea since the food is vietnamese and quite unique. The prices are great. Each entree could serve two people. Be ready for a big and delicious meal. We tried the jackfruit smoothie with jelly pearls in the bottom. It was unique and a fun sweet treat. The Crunchy Pho with pork was excellent. They have warm tea served at the beginning and they end the meal with a cream puff for each customer ! I will go back over and over again to this place. I cannot wait to go back!
