BEST LOBSTER BUFFET! Mother's Day brunch buffet. I booked a reservation a month in advance to celebrate this special day, as no walk-ins are allowed that day. It's located in a quiet spot, away from the smoky casino on the hotel side. We were told there was a 90-minute limit when we got seated, but we ended up staying there for 2 hours. There were lobster tails, crab legs, mussels, scallops, steaks, sea bass, salmon, and lots of different sides to choose from. Our server was very friendly and attentive. THE SERVICE: I called a few days ahead to make a Sunday brunch reservation for a party of four for the lobster buffet. I was told that reservations, were not necessary since it was first come, first served. Knowing how busy Sundays can get, I intentionally arrived early, around 9:30 am, only to be told by the hostess that I actually needed a reservation. After explaining that I had called ahead, to make one, she said there was nothing she could do. Instead, she directed us to the nearby counter and suggested we wait to see if seats opened up. At one point, two seats opened up together and one was available at the other side of the bar. Since we were celebrating a birthday with a party of four, we took about two minutes to decide whether it was worth splitting up while waiting for a fourth seat to open. During that time, the server rushes us and came across as extremely rude. Mind you, I already had my card in hand because you have to pay upfront. Before we have even made a decision, she took my card and charged me for two people. I told her I wasn't ready to pay because we hadn't decided yet, and the gesture left a sour taste. I ended up having her cancel the charge. Disappointed, we went back to the hostess to ask if there were any other restaurants on the property open that early. She answered our question but then offered to see if she could seat us at the buffet after all. By this point, it was around 10:15am. She asked us to wait another 30 minutes, and said we might be able to get a table. We waited. We were finally seated around 11:20 am. Luckily, the mimosas from the bar held us over. What surprised me most was seeing so many empty tables around us. There seemed to be plenty of servers working the buffet, yet several tables remained empty, which left me wondering why the way was so long. THE FOOD: I came for one reason: the lobster. It did not disappoint. They had both Baja lobster and regular lobster, along with several types of crab legs and fresh oysters. At $59, the buffet was definitely worth it. The chilaquiles were decent , although the dessert selection left much to be desired. Aside from the confusing runaround and long wait, the food was good and the buffet was cleaned and maintained. I would rate this a 3.5 if I could. Came here for the brunch lobster buffet. Pro-tip: If you're coming from the casino side, it's a bit confusing to find because it's tucked away in the hotel lobby. The restaurant is beautiful and the service was great. Everyone was incredibly welcoming. The seafood options were good with raw oysters, cocktail shrimps, snow crab clusters, crab claws, and lobsters tail cooked two ways. However, the rest of the buffet options were very limited. The highlight for me was the omelet station, which features chilaquiles and eggs made any way you like. The food consistency just wasn't there for the price point. My first plate was delicious, but by round two, the food tasted overly salty and a bit off. I also found the dessert station pretty disappointing due to the limited selection. Curiously, a nearby table celebrating a birthday was given complimentary cheesecake and ice cream, which looked much better than anything offered on the actual buffet line. Just spent our anniversary weekend at the Jamul Resort and had the Lobster Brunch at the new Jamul 23 restaurant. Jamul 23 is not located in the actual casino. It is located in the hotel lobby area. The restaurant it's self is pretty small compared to most casino buffets, but it does the job. Lobster Brunch was $59 a person when we went. A little pricey for the food selection...but it was mostly seafood (lobster, crab, oysters) so it was to be expected. This is a brunch, but like I said, the selection was heavier on the seafood than the breakfast items. They did have white rice, which was a plus for me! The service is top-notch. The staff is friendly and very attentive to your needs. As great as this place is, the view is nothing to look at. The windows face the employee parking lot and the main road to the resort, with houses on the hill, which really takes away from the high class ambiance. The opposite side of the building would have been a prime view in my opinion. Overall, the food is delicious and I definitely had my share of lobster and shrimp! read more

I've been here probably 5 times now, and so here is a detailed rundown of if you should spend $60 and up at this buffet. (TLDR, it is worth it if you LOVE seafood... of course.) And shout out to the girl around my age, she was restocking everything almost constantly! She was keeping all the food fresh and flowing!!!! She had on some pretty lashes and she was strong as hell, carrying oyster plates and fruit plates. She saw me loitering by the fruits since I was disappointed that there wasn't any more pineapple and immediately let me know she would grab some more for me. She actually went above and beyond. I wish I got her name! Food: They used to have king/snow crab legs and prime rib, but now it's just dry steak. I could barely choke it down with their ajus. I was actually so excited to try the lamb but it was insanely gamey and almost ruined my appetite. It was so dry and it was like powder on my tongue. I really regret starting my meal off with it. Their prime rib used to be sooo juicy. I was shocked. The lobster, crab, and shrimp cocktail was delicious and fit my palate very well. My family loved their oysters. Plate after plate after plate of oysters and lobster... that's how you do it! The lobster has 2 kinds, fried and grilled. The grilled was surprisingly way more salty than the fried and slightly more rubbery. After 2, I went straight for the fried ones. Crispy, more tender and juicy, and it was like they had infinite lobsters. Each one is cut in half. The shrimp was huge and plump and the crab was pretty good. I tried a few of their side items like the peppers and potatoes, not bad, but not much else. I was there to get my money's worth. The rest of the stuff wasn't restocked as much, like the lumpia, broccoli beef, but i DO WISH I TRIED OUT THE CHILAQUILES BAR. But that's meant to fill you up on the cheap stuff. My mom tried the siete mares but she said it was pretty gross. Super salty, no other flavors. It changed locations and I really prefer the old one more. It was definitely bigger. It is very pretty though, overlooking the hills with ample bar seating. It can get a little packed but nothing crazy. If you go during the morning, you get a better deal. This buffet is located through the hotel. You have to take the elevators from the casino to the hotel. You go through a security check and walk down the hallway. The buffet is pretty new. It only opened about 2 months ago. Its really beautiful inside. It looks like there isn't much food, but there is a lot! If you like seafood, this is your buffet! My only disappointment is that the dessert section is very limited. The service is absolutely stellar. From the hosts to my server, they were excellent! I love the deep fried lobster and pretty much all the crab. Its 80$ for dinner and 60$ for brunch 8am - 2pm. For brunch you get lobster also but not Alaskan king crib. The quality is superb. I've been to all buffets that claim to have good lobster and crab, but was disappointed bc the quality was just abysmal. Not at jamul 23! Its great seafood and an awesome experience. I like the eggplant and the butter they give you with the complimentary bread! Soooo good! I stayed for about 2 hours and had a lovely time. This brunch used to only be available on Sundays at PrimeCut but, now it is available 7days a week. Customer service was amazing and the food selection is better at this new location than before. The only difference I noticed is that you pay ahead of time rather than after your meal. They offer an omelet station, 3 styles of lobster tails, crab legs, shrimp, oysters in the half shell, skirt steak, a variety of Asian cuisine, some pastries, and regular breakfast items such as potatoes, sausage, bacon, etc. A full bar is also available for those who drink starting in the am hours as well as some machines to play while enjoying your brunch meal. Had a solid experience at Jamul 23's buffet, it's definitely not a Vegas-level buffet, but what they do have is pretty good. Went for a bday dinner on a Friday night and making a reservation is the way to go cuz it does get busy. The restaurant is pretty, but small. We were seated in the "back" room, further away from the food spread and it felt a little cramped walking thru tables to get to food/back to our table. When we did get service, it was pleasant, but slow as heck. One thing in particular that stood out: You'd expect faster clearing of plates for a buffet, but no, we bussed our own table a few times. I suppose they had to walk further than us to get items requested for multiple tables? Idk, trying to be fair here. Anyway, food was meh. Seafood is exactly as expected for a seafood buffet and we definitely ate our fill, likely enough to make up the $80pp cost. The other items were pretty terrible though: prime rib, steak, fish and veggies were hopelessly dry. They advertised lamb chops and braised short ribs on website but they didn't have it (could be cuz it's lent still?). There wasn't much else for a buffet: 2-3 Asian fusion dishes, salad, fruit, meat/cheese/veggie and hummus board. Dessert was unappealing as well. Last thing I'll say about the food is that they took a long time to refill. Maybe a tactic to spread food and get people out (90 min max)? Maybe going the dinner route is where we went wrong here. We came here celebrating a birthday after seeing good reviews of this place. The service was great (not just at the buffet), we weren't entirely sure where to go when entering the casino and the security kindly pointed us in the right direction. Upon getting seated our sever Alexa was attentive, letting us know that she had been given a large table in the front and for us to not worry about her delayed check ins with us, and even gave us a little tip on the speakeasy they had! (Called Fly Room, I will be providing another review for that as well) As for the buffet, it was a little smaller than we had expected, but they had plenty of seating, with little food options. (I do understand that they probably have different food options on rotation so options may vary) Although the food was appealing, some were very misleading. The crab legs (dungeoness, snow, king) for example, a lot of the ones we grabbed were empty/lack of meat, shells were flimsy/flexible which was a little off putting (we've never had to peel crab legs apart), and the steamed ones were bland. I will say, when they had a new round of king crab legs, it came out a lot better, more meat and more flavorful! So it could be that we just had an unpleasant first round. As for the lobster, it was good, but like I mentioned earlier with the crab legs, the steamed ones were a little bland so we would recommend going for the fried one for more flavor. Continuing, the pepper beef was a little tough and the beef rib was pretty rare (but that's probably because of my preferences), but overall both well seasoned. On the other hand, a little expected and not fully surprised, but gratefully appreciated and enjoyed, (due to another birthday celebration before ours) they brought out a celebratory Happy Birthday cheesecake plate topped with a sparkler and sang happy birthday with a few nearby servers and other staff who were around the table at the time, which I thought was a kind gesture, which definitely made the birthday special and memorable. read more

Where do I start with this disaster. It's a lobster buffet restaurant. It has crab legs, both hot and cold and three types of hot crab legs. It has a limited number of buffet dishes, like green bean casserole and shrimp fried rice. They also had a carving station of something that was dry, which I think was prime rib. It's $79 a person and all I have to say is everything there is anemic. The crab legs are so small that you would probably have to have 12 sets of crab legs to have enough meat for one spoonful. They say they have Puerto Nuevo lobster tail but they batter and deep fry them so that once you use a jackhammer to get the meat out of the tail, it's not lobster meat anymore. It's jerky. They had a very small fruit platter cheese platter. I think they had a salad available in a very small dessert section, but I will say the sugar-free carrot cake was beyond good with a nice cup of coffee. Unless you're getting this for free do not pay $79. It is not worth it. read more

It was our first and probably last visit to Jamul casino. I made a reservation using open table which was easy and we had no issues with that. We had to ask how to actually find the restaurant since it's down the elevator that leads to the hotel lobby. The same 2 people that take your payment at the desk seat you which creates a wait and at times the front is empty which was not usual to see, but that wasn't really a problem just an observation. The restaurant is nice with the seating by the windows and the staff were also nice and friendly. Our complaint would be the quality of food for the price you pay which unfortunately was not equivalent! We came for the lobster and unfortunately it was dry and tough and the crab legs stuck to the shell. We felt like they were not freshly prepared, almost like they were reheated from the leftover dinner the night before. The other food selections also just lacked flavor. The fried shrimp, shrimp cocktail and the steak were probably the only things that tasted good. Not much vegetable selection and the dessert station was also small with not much variety to choose from. I had marked it was my birthday on the reservation and saw other reviews where people were given a cheesecake and candle but did not get that or any greeting at all. I'm extremely disappointed with my experience trying to make reservations for the buffet at Jamul Casino. My boyfriend and I planned to celebrate his birthday there, and the experience was ruined before we even arrived. On Sunday, I called and made a reservation for 4 PM. The woman I spoke with asked for my name, phone number, and the occasion, and I explained we were celebrating my boyfriend's birthday. She also explained the different lobster buffet options and even told us about the speakeasy inside the casino, which got us excited to make a whole night out of it. However, after the call, I never received a confirmation. I didn't realize until the day before the reservation, which is when I called back to verify everything. That's when I was told there was NO reservation under my name at all. I'm confused how the reservation was never submitted when all my information and the occasion were taken down. What frustrated me even more was the host responding with, "I hope you get accommodated," instead of actually trying to fix the situation. Now we're left scrambling to find a last-minute place to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday because the reservation we thought was secured apparently never existed. Front receptionist was nice and kind as we did not have a reservation, but knew it was my wifes birthday. In addition, we recently had a baby this year that is in my profile and we could not go anywhere alone, so this was special and she was wonderful to us. We came for the lobster/king crab buffet, which was good. We sat near the windows and the view was nice. We ate alot and was worth the cost. The small macroons and creme brulee was tasty. The staff also sang my wife a happy birthday song AND gave this awesome cake. So, if you want to come and eat here, I would highly recommend it and reserve ahead or you might not be able to get in as its super crowded. This is by far the best buffet, especially for lobster lovers. We reserved for 2 and we got seated quickly. The staff were polite and hands down to the outstanding service. The dessert area could use some improving. This buffet place is a must try. read more
