Was craving fish tacos but changed our mind when we saw the seafood tower and octopus tacos! Had we known the tower was so big we probably wouldn't have ordered 4 extra tacos lol great for family of 4 to share. We had leftovers! Absolutely great customer service on a busy Friday night. Tables are first come first served but we didn't wait but maybe 5 minutes for a table to open up. Small hole in the wall but you definitely don't want to skip! Lots of parking in the outlet lot.

The food here is amazing--fresh, flavorful, and packed with bold flavors that hit just right. Customer service is great. Every time I'm here the chef comes out and personally serves me the plates I've ordered. We ordered the aguachile, the tower, and the queso birria tacos, and every bite was delicious. The aguachile had the perfect balance of heat and citrus, the tower was stacked and super fresh (definitely a showstopper!), and the queso birria tacos? Next level. Juicy, cheesy, and just the right amount of crisp on the tortilla. The ambiance is small, but it has a lot of space outside to sit as well. This spot is a must if you love good mariscos. I highly recommend it and can't wait to come back again!

Consistent saltiness . I returned 1 day after my last review and food was too salty :( . My order : two fish tacos and viejon taco.

Wife was craving some fish tacos while shopping at home store. Glad we tried El Viejon Seafood and now we have "great" option when craving for some Mexican food! It took only about 15 mins for our order on a 11AM Saturday. Ordered the following: Ensenada Fish Taco - absolutely freshly delicious fish taco. It's mostly fish "not" batter which makes it standout compared to other fish tacos we've tried. Right amount of toppings and the green salsa makes it even taste better! 5/5 Pork Belly Taco - it was missing a a citrusy punch and flavor for me. Great presentation though. 3/5 2 A La Birria Tacos plus Consome (broth) - Beef was full of flavor and crunchiness of the tortillas was perfect. Enjoyed the piping hot and delicious broth. 5/5 Place is not big but the ambiance was great. They have the perfect choice of music during our lunch. Great dining experience and highly recommended!

I think it's a little absurd that when u are ordering Dino nuggets, completely different the actual ones that you buy from the store... the cheap frozen Dino nuggets. Figured I would be paying for something a lil nicer and better for my son.

Have had this place before and it was really good. Did a to go pick up order and this is what $20 gets you for a "half" order of Aguachile. Very little juice and this box is tiny. Portion size is a fraction of what you get at TJ Oyster bar for a cheaper price. Extremely disappointed.

I got this one, not even halfway filled, red salsa to go with my burrito order.

I've been here a few times. I've ordered the Cali Cali burito, carne asada fries, campechana and they are all so good. I took one star off because I always order takeout and they only give you one sad container of half empty salsa. A red one and creamy green. The food is great. The salsa is great. It's just with the amount they charge the salsa shouldn't be hoarded. This time the amount of salsa was so small I had to write a review. If I remember I always ask for more but the times I forget it's frustrating to have to eat a whole burrito with this amount of salsa.

One of the better food experiences I've had. The service was on point. The lady very friendly and patient. Spoke multiple languages. Helped with suggestions. Smile the whole time. The restaurant was very clean. Lots of room. It was quite packed with college students I loved the food. The fish taco is easily two rolled in one. Very good flavor. The nachos weren't my thing (cheese not a fan) but the table loved them. They included a good balance of cheese and pork belly. The octopus taco is recommended. The horchata was excellent and not too sweet.

Pretty new to the area is El Viejon Seafood which is sure to delight you. Inside of the Millenia strip mall you'll find this restaurant. Upon walking inside you'll be greeted with a modern style and very clean restaurant. The staff here have always been awesome and are more than willing to assist you in making a choice. My wife and I have dined here twice, once for breakfast and once for lunch. For breakfast we had the chilaquiles and two birria tacos complete with birria broth. The chilaquiles were very good! great flavor all around and a solid amount that is sure to fill you up. The birria tacos however really lacked flavor. The broth was delicious, but the meat in the tacos was very bland which was disappointing. One thing that did stand out here however were the prices. It's quite expensive, but that's to be expected these days with food prices and rent. If you're in the area and looking for a great spot to try some good seafood and Mexican cuisine, stop by El Viejon.

Decided to try this place because we wanted some Mexican seafood. It's a small place but surprisingly it was pretty packed with people. The food was pretty good. The viejon fries ($22), this was massive with a generous amount of different seafood, & I loved that they used seasoned fries. We also got a couple tacos, the grilled fish taco ($4.50) & gobernador taco ($8), both had good flavor with unique toppings. The pulpo macho tostada ($8) was massive & a generous serving. The birria tacos ($15) were okay, I feel that they were overpriced for what they were & I probably wouldn't order them again. Overall, this place is on the pricier side, but they do serve seafood so it's understandable & I'd come visit again when I want some seafood.

In San Diego from Denver, craving all the seafood we can get. El Viejon was a hit. Was surprised at how wide of a menu from an amazing Seafood Tower with octopus, fish, shrimp, etc. to crunchy Tripa tacos and awesome Burris tacos with consome as well. There is definitely something for everyone. Location is nice with cute outdoor seating. Inside was packed on a Friday night. Service was friendly and fairly fast for how much food we ordered. No complaints here!

El Viejón Seafood is quickly becoming one of my favorite spots. The staff is always super friendly, and the space is clean and inviting with both indoor and outdoor seating. Even with a baby in tow, the bar-height stools were surprisingly comfy--major win! Their menu is so unique that I make it a point to try something new every time I go. This visit, it was the pulpo macha tostada--smoky, spicy, and totally packed with flavor. If you're into bold seafood, it's a must-try. Everything I've had so far has been fresh and thoughtfully prepared. El Viejón is one of those places that keeps pulling you back in, dish by dish. Highly recommend if you're into creative seafood, chill vibes, and great service.

Their sushi and fish are pretty good quality & one of our favorite things is that happy hour is buy 1 get 1 beer & sake all day lol When we came back to try AYCE seafood we had a few questions about the menu and our server was super patient with all our questions and requests. I genuinely think it's worth the price just because the amount of appetizers that come along with it. There was more than enough food to go around and we didn't even get to 3 rounds of seafood before we got full haha It's a clean restaurant, good service, and in a large plaza. The plaza it's located in can get really busy though because of the TJ Max & Marshals so I would plan accordingly on the weekends. The only reason I put 4 stars instead of 5 is because although the flavoring in the seafood is delicious.. I think they add way too much butter in the mix that it literally drowns out the seasoning. So what we started doing is digging to the bottom of the bag with a spoon, scooping out some of the seasoning from there and adding it to a sauce cup with some salt & pepper. Then we add the butter from there. The flavor is there, it is.. you just have to dig for it lol other than that our experience was great. We'll be coming back often.

So I don't go as often as I used to as the location on Birch is quite a drive. But Friday the 20th my wife and I decided to make the drive because we had a rare day off together and I was craving. We were seated quickly and the staff was friendly. GG was our server and I asked her about the shrimp burrito in ranchero sauce because I didn't see it on the menu to which I was given the very sad news that they no longer served it. I'm a creature of habit, and I've been coming to this chain since my early 20s and I always get that burrito with rice and beans. Was very disappointed to find it's no longer a menu item, it was literally what made me make the drive from lakeside. Once getting that news I had to actually look at the menu and find something else. I ordered tha carne asada plate and my wife had the Green enchiladas. I also ordered the ceviche tostada. I was a little worried the carne asada might be thin and dry but it was actually a nice thickness and super tender. I had a bite of the enchiladas too, also really good. Another new thing I noticed is that now chips and salsa are not complimentary, sad. But unfortunately not something new to the restaurant scene as of late.

I decided to take my parents out for their 38-year anniversary, and they chose to try the place I've been telling them about Garbatella. My birthday is also the day before their anniversary, so this dinner was meant to be special. We walked in at 5:15 PM after seeing on the website that Happy Hour was from 3:00-5:30 PM. Our reservation was at 5:45 PM, so we wanted to catch the end of HH. We stood there for almost five minutes without being greeted, which in any restaurant for a guest is a long time. When we were finally acknowledged, the server already seemed irritated by our existence. We told her we had a 5:45 PM reservation but wanted to enjoy Happy Hour and asked if we should order at the bar or if we could do it at the table. She completely ignored the question, sat us, and handed us regular menus. When I asked again, she said HH was already over. I mentioned the website says 5:30 PM--and at that point it was only 5:22 PM. She responded that it actually ends at 5:00 PM and that the website is outdated. She then seated us directly between the only two other tables in an otherwise empty restaurant, so there was no sense of space or privacy. Again, if it was a full house totally understand but it was practically vacant. Trying to laugh past it, we ordered drinks and bread. The bread came out before the drinks--which is a restaurant SIN. When I tried to order the Pappardelle Rione (a dish I've ordered here many times and is still listed online), she told me they no longer have it and again said the website is old. I asked if there was anything similar or if the kitchen could make something close, and she pointed me to roast beef with mashed potatoes... after I had clearly said I wanted pasta. She rushed through taking the rest of our order, and I already felt like an inconvenience. Mind you, there were only three tables in the entire restaurant. She could have tried to meet me in the middle on an item but acted as if she had no time to deal with my order or make any suggestions per my requests. Two minutes after ordering, I decided to switch to the bolognese with burrata--just to stick with pasta like I originally wanted. She told me they had already started my dish and that changing it would be an additional charge. At that point, with the inconsistencies in HH timing, outdated website menu, seating, and overall attitude, I just said to add it to the bill. Since we all know she wanted to rack it up at that point or to shut me up basically. I've worked in the industry for some time now and not ignorant to servers antics. Both of my entrees came out. The meatballs were likely microwaved, the burrata was missing, and the roast beef with mashed potatoes was nothing special. Couldn't be that fresh if it came out that quickly is all I'm saying. My Coke was empty by the time the food arrived, and she never once offered a refill. Eventually, my mom had to flag down another younger server to get drinks. When our original server finally came back, we ordered tiramisu. My refill came barely before dessert was dropped. She then completely disappeared to chat with another table. No acknowledgment of our celebration, no dessert gesture for my parents' anniversary -- NOTHING. I actually had to get up from the table to find her so I could pay. She seemed uncomfortable when she realized I was the one paying--and tipping. I typically tip 20-30%, but this was the first time I've ever left 10%. She didn't even provide me with a copy of the receipt after saying she would. I have never felt more brushed off by a server in my life. Didn't get her name. She was older, dark hair, heavy eyeliner, and cold unwelcoming demeanor. What happened to good customer service? Don't know if it was our race, my age (much younger), or if we just caught her on a bad day. Either way would not recommend due to the inconsistencies of the times, menus, and service. Based off of the other reviews it looks like they pick and choose who to give it to. Especially the demographics... VERY interesting and disheartening.
