It was great to come to this location to celebrate my Bestie's birthday. She chose this place and we all love it, so it was perfect. There were five of us ladies, and it was really nice to be able to enjoy crab legs, adult chicken tenders, mocktails, and some people got cocktails. When we arrived, we had to wait for the whole party to get there and so it was only about a five minute wait while the others parked. NOTE: Parking is a challenge in this shopping center. I highly recommend parking on the side streets. Luckily my friend that I rode with was able to get a parking spot within the first three minutes of us arriving. The place was not packed, which was good. There were only about 20 people dining when we got there. As soon as we were seated, it was great because we were seated next to family members that we didn't know we're going to be there. That was really cool. Overall, the visit was perfect. The service was great. Brian was our server. For five people we ordered: 2 crab leg combos bags with House sauce mild, 1 order a sweet potato fries as the appetizer, 1 adult chicken tenders meal with a side of House sauce, and 4 bowl sides of rice. They give you so much rice that I would recommend two people sharing the bowl. The rice is made perfect perfectly with perfect sticky level and perfect tender consistency. Our crab legs were delicious and very filling as well as the corn and potatoes that comes in the bag. The house mild seasoning was perfect. I was craving for seafood boil so i decided to check out this place. I ordered a Seafood basket that's good for 2-3 ppl. There were about 4-5 pieces each of crab legs, crawfish, claim, mussel, corn and sausages. We wanted it mild with full house sauce, which was pretty tasty but I would go with medium if i come back next time. There were many clam without the meat though. They posted a notice that they would charge 18% service fee. We ended up paying about $180 which was a bit expensive for the amount of seafood that we got. That's for a seafood basket alone, no side dishes or appetizer or drinks. We got there around 4pm so i had no problem finding a parking spot. Crab Hut used to be one of my absolute favorite memories from my college days. Hoping to relieve those good old times, I drove an hour and 40 minutes each way and spent over $200 to bring a takeout feast all the way back home. What I got in return completely shattered those nostalgia and raised serious food safety concerns. First, the shrimp was a complete disaster. It was impossible to peel, and the meat was totally mushy, powdery, and stuck to the shell--a dead giveaway that the shrimp was spoiled and degraded before even being cooked. Because of the heavy Cajun spices, the bad flavor was masked at first. However, I always have the habit of sucking the juice/tallow out of the shrimp heads. Yesterday, as I sucked on several shrimp heads, I noticed a distinct, unpalatable sour/foul smell. I stopped doing it immediately, but it was too late. I was sitting on the toilet with severe diarrhea the next morning. I ended up consulting a professional about the mushy shrimp texture, only to confirm that the tissue breakdown was due to severe spoilage. By the time I realized this, the damage to my stomach was already done. To make matters worse, the snow crab legs were painfully salty. The meat inside tasted even saltier than the seasoning sauce on the outside, rendering them practically inedible. When you drive nearly 2 hours and spend over $200, you expect freshness and safety, not ruined memories and food poisoning. We come here every year for my birthday and my daughter too. My little family and I are obsessed with crab legs and all crab meats. We LOVE how everything is seasoned and prepared. We each get our own bag and add 1/2 a pound of snow crab legs. I also add ramen and an egg in the sauce. Yes expensive but we don't mind, we'll spend big bucks on good food. We got on the wait list around 6:15pm and got seated around 6:40pm so the wait time was not bad especially for a party of 14... My party ordered 4-5 pounds of KING CRAB, CLAMS, SHRIMP. Came here on a Monday on MLK day for lunch. There was no wait and no line which was good. The service was pretty quick considering we had 7 people. They had lots of seat options. I got the 1lb shrimp with full house sauce mild. I thought the shrimp was really good with sausages. My friend got their spicy and it was pretty spicy but good. Had a layer of cheese on top. With the knife I was given, I destroyed the bread trying to cut into pieces. Really liked the spicy Cajun chicken pasta. Not very spicy. Chicken was tender. Place was clean. When we got there, plenty of seating. But, after about 15 mins, the place was packed with a line forming outside. I've been to all other locations from downtown to the one in mira mesa but this location was OG to me. I like the vibe and atmosphere. The theme is what drew me here to begin with but then again that time cajun boil was such hype. Service has always been excellent. Not one time was someone inattentive or "lazy". However the music can get loud. Sometimes they played country music which was nice. Actually maybe it was just the one time. Sometimes the employees played their songs. My favorites are are the sweet potatoes fries, calamari, fried fish and ranch. Their ranch was always so good! I always get 2 llbs of shrimp in full house extra spicy. The full house is really the best. Also they've got good chowder and clams and chicken wings. Also for their happy hours daily 3-7 half off oysters and some discounted wines. At some of the locations at the bar you can get discounted popcorn shrimp and crab poppers. And now they have happy hour every Tuesday all day. It wasn't a problem for us and we appreciated the heads up. We started with oysters as appetizers and I had a lb of shrimp with a side of garlic noodles, which was really good. Let me tell you...that was the biggest pasta portion I ever seen in my life at a restaurant. It was an amazing amount of pasta!!!! I enjoyed the pasta, it was cheesy a bit of garlic with some spice. My husband loved the shrimp; he was eating it up. We got a whole table cover, gloves, bib, and a mini trash on our table. I love how well the staff work together. They were so efficient and organized. I've witness multiple staff members work together to clean a mess at a table and put up new cleaning materials for new customers. Typically get 1lb of shrimp with either 1lb of crab legs and/or 1/2lb of sausage all in the same bag in medium full house spice and a side of rice which is plenty for 2 people. Ever since the renovations, this place is more open and spacious. The majority of staff are nice, but customer service can dwindle during crowded times. This is a great spot for families and hanging out with friends, just prepared to get messy! They do offer bibs, and you can request gloves if not already offered by your waiter/waitress.
