Came here with my family while visiting San Diego this past Saturday Honestly we randomly choose this place since we're not familiar with the area and we do not regret it. We got the Chief Mates' catch combo and it was perfect for the 4 of us. I wish I could remember the name of the sauce they used for the boil but it had us licking our fingers it was so good! We got the little one who doesn't like seafood so we got her the buffalo boneless wings and those were also very tasty. Lastly the drinks, the lemonades were refreshing and not too sweet or sour! We got the mermaid drink and the captain cosmo, also both very delicious. Over all a great experience, the staff were so nice and friendly and the food was delicious. Some of my family came into town to celebrate their birthday. When they arrived, we knew this was the place to take them - and we were not disappointed. Sabrina took care of us. And, from the time we sat down until we left, everything was how it should be. Even though I barely mentioned the occasion that brought us in, Sabrina still remembered and made sure to bring my mother a special treat to finish off the evening. This isn't our first time here. We keep coming back because we know what to expect when we come in. Upon arriving, all the hostess told us was, "We have a lot of reservations ahead of you, so just keep checking." How about grabbing a piece of paper, writing down people's names, and noting the size of their party? It would make managing the line so much easier and more organized. How are you supposed to know who arrived first? Seriously, this seems like such a basic process, yet there doesn't appear to be any system at all. I was excited to try this restaurant after reading so many positive reviews, but unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. The first surprise was that soft drinks don't come with free refills, which wasn't a major issue but was unexpected. I ordered 1 lb of shrimp and later found out that corn and potatoes are only included with orders of 1/2 lb or more of snow crab, king crab, or lobster. Since I ordered shrimp, I had to pay an extra $4.50 for two pieces of corn and another $4.50 for five pieces of potatoes. When my food arrived, the shrimp was overcooked, and I only received three potatoes instead of the five I paid for. On a positive note, the servers were friendly and courteous throughout the meal. Wowzers. So glad we deduced to stop in to Boil Daddy because this establishment did not disappoint. Decided for a mix and match but they have so many different combo options there's surely enough to keep anyone happy. The shrimp was scrumptious, crab legs had plenty of meat and the drinks were amazing! Do yourself favor and try the bayou boil (watermelon puree and Tabasco was such a great combo). My only note was I got a side of the medium spicy (which is usually fairly spot on) but it felt more so mild if anything. Came back a year later, and the service is just as friendly and welcoming. I took my mom here for her birthday dinner and we all enjoyed our seafood boil feast. We indulged in their Family Combo deal called the Captain's Catch, which was enough for 4-5 people. It includes head on shrimp, peeled shrimp, clams, mussels, 5 sausages, potatoes, and 2 corn cobs. I did feel as though there could be more of one item, and we ordered an additional 1lb of crawfish. We tried something new and we loved their chicken wings and crab cakes. They were great appetizers! Service was humorous and they are a little short staffed but still courteous. Q U A L I T Y! The patio(dog friendly) is adorable and perfectly shaded. I noticed there's some warmers so my husband and I are looking forward to coming back during colder evenings to enjoy The staff was super kind, patient and helped us in deciding what to order. Not only was the server who assisted us extremely kind and checked in often but other staff checked in on us as well. My husband and I truly appreciated that. Now let's talk about the food! Absolutely amazing!! The seasoning and the quality of the food was obvious within the first bite. First time trying this place and I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the Daddy's Noods and the Snow Crab Legs. I ordered through delivery service so the cost was wildly excessive with all the additional fees the app charges but the cost of the food itself seems on par with other crab boil type places. It seems they charge by cluster and not by pound. I don't know if that's better or worse for anyone but I think I'd rather by pound. The crab legs also came with corn, sausage and potatoes without it being an added expense. Compared to some other places I would typically just order 2lbs of crab legs with no extras and I would maybe spend around $100. The legs I got did seem a little small for the price of $69/2 clusters but I can't say that for certain or assume that is the norm. Take that for what it's worth. The flavor of the sauce is really nice. I got a mild garlic butter and Cajun and it was delicious. Still had a little heat for mild, but very good. Same with the Noods. I got non spicy since they were for my toddler and they tasted very good. I almost stole them from her. I would eat here again but in person to save on the delivery fees. read more

Hello Yelpers! Drove down to San Diego today to celebrate a family member graduating from Marine basic training. They chose "Boil Daddy" for the occasion, and it didn't disappoint. My wife and I shared the Mahalo Shrimp plate, while other family members went all in on the seafood combo boil--which they said was fantastic. The real star, though, was that Daddy Sauce (medium heat). It's garlicky, rich, and full of umami--seriously, you could put this stuff on anything and it would be a winner. I'm determined to figure out the recipe someday. Finding the place was a little tricky for me, but once there, parking was plentiful and the service was warm and friendly. We came in the mid afternoon and were seated immediately. The server was really nice and made sure we got our drink orders in. Visiting SD for a couple days and have been craving seafood boil or cajun shrimp. I found this place off doordash because we didn't want to lose parking. My husband also isn't hungry so just ordered for myself and the baby. I like how this spot has 1/2 lbs. No other place lets you order by 1/2 lb. It's always a pound minimum. I'm pretty basic and got the shrimp head on with everything seasoning extra spicy. It was fire. Flavurrrrr and spice, I devoured it with my side of rice. Ordered the baby corn and eggs on the side but he passed out before the food arrived so I just ate solo in the hotel. Food was hot once it was here though I did pay extra to have it come directly here to the door. Can't tell you about service or ambience because I didn't dine in but take out was worth it. Absolutely loved Boil Daddy! Reminded me of one of my favorites back home. Their boil is less soupy and is dry but it is very flavorful. Sheets on the table,plastic gloves and bibs ready to go the sauce and the food was excellent and pair it with a nice double IPA it is even better. Crisp jazz tunes in the background a plus.
