Despite her being service and us being permitted to sit inside, I requested to sit on the porch, it's such a welcoming vibe! Ross seated me and offered to turn on a deck heater for me, which I gratefully accepted. Lars was helping another table and I asked her to get my waiter, yet she offered to expedite things by taking my order, which I appreciated. Lars was able to recommend a fabulous glass of wine to go with my chicken. It was under $10 per glass and a total hidden gem! First course was the goat cheese salad, which is a fabulous mixed green salad with goat cheese, pickled carrots, and cranberries (craisins?). So yummy! This place was amazing! We had a delicious meal with the recommended appetizer with the Baked Humboldt Fog, with cheese, perfectly sautéed mushrooms and excellent brioche. We had the seafood risotto, and it was my favorite dish on my entire trip to San Diego! The scallops were fresh and flavorful and the shrimp were just as delicious. The tomato based sauce was a fresh take on one of my favorite dishes. We split a bottle of wine, as our waitress advised us of the no-corkage fee special on Thursdays. We chose the lemon curd and chocolate chip bread pudding for dessert, it was too hard to pick one. The space was intimate and romantic, and we had fun checking out all of the wine varieties available for purchase. I spoke to 5 local restaurants before choosing this one and the "minimums" and restrictions were all over the place; 3rd Corner kept it straightforward and pricing was reasonable (not up charged for a pre arranged table. My husband and I moved to OB last month and have driven the by this place a number of times and we're really excited to finally try it! And while my expectations were blown. This is such a cute Chic fine dining restaurant in the heart of OB! The vibe is so elegant in Old School and cozy! Instead of a wine bottle menu you go and pick out your own wine bottle yourself which is really cool and a fun date idea! It has seating and a bar inside and then a nice patio area as well. You can actually buy a bottle and drink it there but also then take it home if you don't finish it. We got a little food too. I took my husband out here for his birthday for our first time at 3rd Corner! Their drinks were fantastic (my husband got their seasonal wine flight and I got their version of a G&T). We ordered the following food: -Corvina special - the fish was flakey and packed with flavor with the rich sauce. The sauce was hearty with mushroom, tomatoes, and shrimp. Very tasty! -Crab cake special - crab cakes can be a bit of a bit of miss for me and this one was a hit! They had pops of sweetness from the corn and were not shy with the crab. -Chicken piccata - the Chicken piccata was spot on and delicious. They were also kind enough to provide us a slice of a cake for our birthday celebration. Unfortunately I don't remember thr name of the cake but it was incredible, almost cheesecake-y but not too sweet. I had wrote in my reservation that we were celebrating a birthday but weren't expecting any special desserts so that was such a nice touch! We also ordered their PB old fashioned from their dessert menu and I would highly recommend. 3rd corner is such a lovely little spot and they really seem to have quite a few regulars so they definitely worth coming back to! Came recommended by our airbnb host so we decided this would be the place for our last dinner in OB. Love that it's a wine shop and restaurant. You can get a glass of wine that you like and buy the bottle afterwards, it's a win-win situation! Service is attentive and polite, no matter who you ask for assistance. The place is buzzin', but still able to have a nice conversation without yelling at each other. We ordered the mussels and fries, cioppino, and seafood pasta. Of course, we ordered bread and butter. I love some warm bread, but it was tough to slice. I'm spoiled and would love the loaf of bread be pre-sliced haha. Everything was served hot. Well i'll start with the good stuff . The ambiance is really lively. It's pretty quiet so easy to have conversation. The waiter was very nice and quite helpful. They seem to have an excellent wine selection at pretty reasonable prices. Unfortunately the food is just ok. Not bad not great, just ok. We had the roast chicken and the sea bass. The chicken was properly cooked but it was under seasoned and the skin was soggy. The vegetables that accompanied the chicken were overcooked. The seabass was cooked correctly but otherwise just ok. Prices are a tiny bit high which would be fine if the food were more exciting. Definitely not a place worth going out of your way for unless you are a true wine lover. read more

We went for Wednesday lunch. They have a special every Wednesday a hamburger fries and a glass of wine for $25. It's an all day special. We haven't been here in years, but it's still the same ambience, lots of good wines. The service is great and so is the food. Highly recommend. read more

What a gem! We've lived in Point Loma for over five years but hadn't made it to 3rd Corner yet and it did not disappoint. Food was amazing. My dad (80+ years old) was in town from the east coast and he said it was one of the best meals he's ever had. We all agreed. Amongst us we had the pork schnitzel, Mary's chicken and steak frites. For desert we sampled the cheesecake, cookies/gelato and choc chip bread pudding. All were outstanding. Our server, Dustin, was the best! So attentive and helpful. On my recent re-visit, the reception at the Third Corner had improved. Specifically, the aggressive and unpleasant "hostess" from my last visit was no where to be found. I was seated at a corner table by the window overlooking West Point Loma Boulevard and perused the menu. There are two dining rooms at The Third Corner: The "White Room", where the white wines and sparkling wines/Champagnes are stored; and the "Red Room", where the red wines are stored and where the bar is located. I like the bar itself, but the handfull of tables in the Red Room strewn along a banquette lack charm and the feeling is that of "Siberia". Accordingly, I would be sure to request to be seated in the "White Room". Although several waitresses passed my table numerous times (often calling out "corner" to warn other servers of their presence), no one approached my table for 15 minutes, despite the quiet room and the early hour [5:30 pm]. There were no apologizes or explanations when the waitress finally attended to the table. The specials of the evening were a good Roasted Red Bell Pepper Soup and a Grouper with Red Wine/Butter Soup. I enjoyed them both. I noted the male kitchen waiter would deliver food to the tables by holding out the various dishes in the air saying to no one in particular "Short Ribs?", "Scallops?". He expected the guests to raise their hand as to each "call out", as if the Third Corner was "auctioning off" the food. It would be much more professional if the Waitress who takes the order would identify customers on the order by 1, 2, 3, 4. etc, so that current unprofessional "auction presentation" could be avoided. The after-dinner Irish Coffee was good and properly made. There is a small parking lot along the West Point Loma Boulevard side of the building. If those few spaces are taken, parking can be a nightmare. read more

A worker finally came to help me after checking out wine for someone and asked if I was looking for someone. I couldn't even finish risotto which has never happened before as I love risotto. The fries were displayed nicely but it was hard to share and grab as it was string fries and very thin. A HAPPY RETURN I hadn't been to this restaurant in several years, so I was glad I tried it again. The food was good, especially the duck confit. The mussels had very good flavor, though it would have been nice to have more broth and some crusty bread to go with them. We tried a couple of wines we hadn't seen before and were happy with our choices. One nice thing here is that the place is also a wine shop, so you can pick a glass from the menu or pick a bottle from the larger selection and either drink it there or take it home. Service was a little slow but friendly. We were there on a Sunday evening, when the place was not crowded, allowing conversation at a normal level -- a nice change from most restaurants these days. Customer service is always good, the servers are very attentive. I ordered the red sangria, always delicious. We had the charcuterie board for an appetizer and it was good. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with what I ordered for my main dish, the chicken and Brussel sprouts didn't have much flavor, not sure what happened there. Someone else in my table ordered the same dish and agreed with me that the dish needed more flavor. I really enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant, very dark and cozy. We sat at the bar and the bartender was the same rude guy. He couldn't have been less friendly. We attempted conversation but he acted like he'd rather be anywhere else. Same for our server, unfriendly and rushed, like he wanted to get rid of us. The food was lukewarm. The upside is it's nice and quiet so you can have good conversation.
