We've had consultations and treatments with quite a few endodontists across LA county for our kids,…read moreand Dr. Sony Thomas is, by far, our family's favorite. We first saw Dr. Thomas for a pulp cap on one of my son's molars. He is technically excellent, very precise, and takes the time to clearly explain what he is doing. His rates are also fair and transparent. Most importantly, he genuinely cares about his patients and treated my son as if he were his own child. My son recently needed an emergency root canal under IV sedation. Dr. Thomas called and texted with me over the weekend to help us manage his pain, while also doing everything he could to find a certified anesthesiologist and rearrange his schedule. The whole office, including his staff and office manager, is also very kind, personable, and especially good with children. I would wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Thomas to anyone looking for an endodontist. We feel very lucky to have found him.

Let me start out by saying that I am the worst dental patient! Even with orthodontia as a kid, the…read moredentist is stressful for me. On Thursday, 10/29, my regular dentist took regular full-month x-rays. It was determined that my tooth that had been giving me issues had a dying root. So he referred me to Dr. Thomas. I called when I got the referral from the car. I was in tears because I was so scared as my last root canal was a horror story. From the start, I could tell that this was going to be a different experience. Melissa calmed me down immediately and was able to get me a consultation appointment on Monday, 11/3. Fast forward to the appointment on Monday. The office had it's own parking lot in front which is awesome. The office looked and smelled clean like antiseptic and alcohol which one wants in a dentist. After some additional x-rays, Dr. Thomas came into examine my tooth. He was concerned that two teeth seemed to be infected so he performed sensory test to ensure tha the correct tooth was being treated. Yep, it was the expected tooth. Since Dr. Thomas had the available time, he was able to perform the root canal immediately after a CAT scan of my mouth. I loved this as I had so much less anxiety! I told him about my needle phobia and he was patient and easy while giving the anesthesia. He explained everything that was going on in my mouth, gave my mouth frequent rests from being open, used a dental dam to protect the tooth from saliva infection, and was just overall kind and gentle. Dr. Thomas only had me take OTC meds for pain and hot/cold compresses. He also did not prescribe any antibiotics as he wanted my immune system to try and resolve it first. I like this approach. If needed, antibiotics will be prescribed at the follow-up appointment. The office called to check on me this morning and made sure that I was taking the OTC meds and doing the compresses. Overall, I would recommend this dentist and office to anyone who needs a root canal. But, most especially for someone like me who is anxious and nervous at the dentist. Thank you, Dr. Thomas and staff! You are wonderful!

I went in for a cleaning, and we did a really extensive set of xrays, (they still use film btw). I have been going for my regular cleanings for a while and Dr. Arrobio didn't make any of my work sound urgent. He said some of my crowns needed to be replaced "sometime in the next couple years". I was pleased to know that I wasn't having any problems because I have a history with some pretty extensive dental work (root canals, crowns etc). Fast forward to a few weeks ago for my most recent cleaning... The fill in dentist was suggesting that I get about 10 different appointments worth of work done, which was frankly pretty shocking considering I had been in 6 months ago and was told everything looked fine. They wanted me to get my metal fillings replaced "asap" too. So I was pretty skeptical about this because I've been told wild things from dentists before, so when I was out of town visiting family I decided to get a second opinion from my family's dentist. I made it clear to them that I would NOT be getting any treatment from their office ( I live 500 miles away) so they were able to give me a completely objective opinion on my dental needs. The feedback this dentist gave me was completely conflicting with what Dr. Arrobio's fill in suggested. Dr. Chen (the 2nd opinion) did not urge me to get the metal fillings swapped out, and he DID suggest that I get a crown added to an old root canal that was at risk, something Dr. Arrobio's office did not suggest. Ironically, the work suggested by Dr. Chen was much pricier but was much more logical. (replace 3 old messed up crowns done by an admittedly bad dentist) and fill a cavity or two. That's it. His office was state of the art so he was able to show me exactly what he was talking about. So Dr. Chen advised about 3 or 4 different appointments worth of semi urgent work that were much easier to understand, and were in complete conflict with Dr. Arrobio's associate. The associate and hygienist had a hard time explaining what needed to be done and why, which was a red flag for me. I am also upset that Dr. Arrobio didn't suggest I get this work done 6 months ago. Various other notes: exam rooms don't feel completely sanitary, there aren't replaceable covers on the overhead lamp. The dentist was only partially wearing his facial mask which examining my teeth. I would stay away...I don't know what is going on over there but they don't seem to be prioritizing the actual health of your teeth. I used to recommend him to people but I feel guilty about that now after this experience. I am changing to a completely different dentist.

I called to schedule an appointment at Dr Johnson's office but the soonest available slot was in a month. I explained to the receptionist that I was in severe pain and she was kind enough to call me back the next morning and offer me an appointment the same day. Dr Johnson was kind and supportive, took the time to listen to me. When I showed him my night guard, I was worried he'll jump right to recommend I get a new one but he didn't do that. Instead, he told me my night guard was sturdy and suitable for my case which tells me he is honest and trustworthy and not looking to make money off the back of his patient's pain and overwhelm. He gave me a preliminary diagnosis and honestly, it all made sense. I felt seen and my worries and symptoms validated. He referred me to an Orofacial Pain Specialist and his receptionist was kind enough to let me know that I can call for additional information anytime I like. I am happy and satisfied with his work and the overall atmosphere at the clinic.
