I had a very good experience at Dr Johnson's clinic this morning. I recently moved to the US and I needed to find a dentist when my TMJ pain suddenly became unbearable. I called to schedule an appointment at Dr Johnson's office but the soonest available slot was in a month. I explained to the receptionist that I was in severe pain and she was kind enough to call me back the next morning and offer me an appointment the same day. Dr Johnson was kind and supportive, took the time to listen to me. When I showed him my night guard, I was worried he'll jump right to recommend I get a new one but he didn't do that. Instead, he told me my night guard was sturdy and suitable for my case which tells me he is honest and trustworthy and not looking to make money off the back of his patient's pain and overwhelm. He gave me a preliminary diagnosis and honestly, it all made sense. I felt seen and my worries and symptoms validated. He referred me to an Orofacial Pain Specialist and his receptionist was kind enough to let me know that I can call for additional information anytime I like. I am happy and satisfied with his work and the overall atmosphere at the clinic. read more

Always have a great experience with Dr. Johnson and his staff. His work is excellent, he cares and is very honest and upstanding. I have also had past experiences with dental offices soliciting unnecessary and very costly (not to mention invasive and painful!) work; this is NEVER the case with Dr. Johnson. He works hard to maintain best dental health based on specific needs and never tries to upsell or deceive. It is refreshing and appreciated to have a dentist who does quality work and sincerely looks out for his patients' best outcome. I have sent my whole family to Dr. Johnson's office and trust him and his staff completely. The icing on the cake is that they are all very kind and lovely people. Switched dentists to Dr Jerry Johnson after a horrible experience with a dentist who tried to tell me I needed all kinds of work on my teeth that I did NOT need whatsoever (that was the first time I'd experienced that in my life, but I know it's prevalent and especially here in LA). I was so relieved to find a great new dentist in Dr. Johnson, as searching for a new one can be very daunting. He offers really great care (he does the cleanings himself), has a very pleasant bedside manner, and won't try and scam you like others in this town. I'm so glad that I found this dentist! He and his staff are the nicest, kindest, and professional people! The main reasons are that they are honest and fair. I feel like I'm going to see family when I go there. Dr. Johnson and his team always treat you with care. Found Jerry Johnson DDS via Google, my insurance, and his website. This was like stepping back into the 1980's and I was tempted to run when I walked in the office. It's in an old converted house and the interiors are old and very funky. I was shocked that there was no Hygienist and no running water or suction at the dental stations!? He immediately wanted to do one crown and 2 more after, because he said my back teeth were cracked. He pretended to clean my teeth but only quickly polished them. I went to another great reputable dentist a week later and he did not think I needed any crowns. additionally he showed me pictures of my teeth and they looked like they were never cleaned and were covered in coffee stains and tartar buildup. My impression is he has been in this location for 40 years and is on his way to retirement and doesn't care anymore. I think he is willing to do unnecessary dental work so he can charge the insurance. I don't trust this guy, so my advice is keep looking for someone better. read more

I have been going to Dr. Johnson's office for a number of years and I can not recommend them enough. The staff is knowledgable, courteous and always friendly - there is a caring, personal touch here that you do not find with all Dental Offices. From the moment you arrive you are greeted with a smile and a warm demeanor by Mary at the front desk, and that feeling continues through the rest of your visit. Dr. Johnson always takes the time to explain any necessary procedures and offers advice & tips on ways that I can improve my teeth in advance of the next visit. I've been to a lot of dentists in my day, a result of poor teeth genetics; Dr. Johnson and staff score the highest in my book. They are friendly, professional, caring and most importantly, gentle. When I leave after a teeth cleaning, my gums don't feel like they just have been tortured, and I'm not treated like a leper for not flossing as well as I should. Dr. Johnson is extremely knowledgeable (but does not try to prove it) and takes the time to explain everything, even while he is performing a procedure!! Mary runs the front desk and is very helpful. They never overbook appointments and you never feel rushed. Convenient parking in the back of the facility. Both my husband and I are patients of Dr. Johnson. I have had Dr. Johnson as my dentist for over 30 years and continued to use him even after moving out of state. I return every year for my dental checkups. Everyone in the office is so knowledgeable and courteous. You are greeted with a smile by Mary at the front desk when you enter and get only the best of care from the staff and Dr. Johnson. He is so knowledgeable and caring and takes the time to explain all necessary treatments from routine to cosmetic. I can highly recommend Dr. Johnson to everyone who is looking for a new dentist because of a recent move or because they just want to go to a dentist who is caring and treats you like family. I wouldn't go anywhere else! I have a phobia of dentists and had stayed away from any for 5-6 years until I found doctor Johnson. He worked with me and seemed to understand my fear. With a genetic tendency for gum problems he has done everything to help encourage me to improve my dental health. Don't use him. If he gives you the wrong diagnosis you'll still get charged. In addition, the receptionist is rude, so you get two for one. I was in pain for 3 or 4 days and had to finally go to another dental office because I actually needed a root canal and not a crown. read more

I don't know about these other Yelp comments but I will never ever step foot in his office again. He diagnosed me with needing a crown. Meanwhile I was in extreme pain and he assured me it would go away after the crown. I came in for the first half of the procedure and left in extreme pain but was told by his receptionist that the pain is normal from having my tooth shaved down for the crown. Asprins wouldn't even work and couldn't even sleep at night from the pain. I called the next night because I couldn't take it anymore and he was busy having dinner. The next day I had to go on a business trip and had to lay down in the back seat from all the pain. Again his ofc told me it was normal and his receptionist started getting an attitude because I kept calling. I had to go to another dentist for a pain shot and she couldn't believe it. The other dentist told me I needed a root canal immediately, so I found another place in Arcadia that would do an emergency root canal. Because my insurance policy only allowed me $1000 out of pocket each calendar yr, I questioned Johnson' ofc about his $600 charge and they sent me to collections and added $200 more to the bill. read more
