If I could leave no stars; I would.
I live with disabilities & until very recently; was unable to unpack many of the boxes revealing the fact that several of my personal items are missing. I was misled by both Marcus & Phillip about my belongings & was told that everything was in boxes here- nothing could have been further from the truth. I have contacted the business via Angie's List, however, James (the owner), has not responded. I chose James's moving based on Angie's & my pleasant experience with him-specifically moving me into my home over 17 years ago. I also chose him because he had a small burgeoning moving business & was a business I wanted to support also because I wanted to honor a new Black owned business. James initially refunded me $1000, for damages to my antique chandelier, that Marcus walked into; however damages far surpass that amount & my items were never returned to me. The items of my personal property that are missing are irreplaceable & belong to me. Artwork that Marcus asked for, showed interest in; was refused, yet wanted, & took, a wooden computer desk, with pictures, authenticity certificates of the artwork I had, my dad's Lacoste sweater, an MP3 player, my great grand's 10 karat Ruby red ring, necessary connectors for my washer & dryer, (which is sabotage), new pairs of Polo & unique blue jeans, a black OutKast tee, various other t-shirts (16 total), a black Coach purse, a Gucci bag, exercise wear, a crockpot, & various other items. They were plainly stated to be moved- to my home- not taken by Marcus & Phillip, who offered to some of buy them, even after I flatly stated they WERE NOT for sale. I sold him 3 items that weren't useful for me that he Marcus asked for, claiming there was no room on the truck, for $25. (A paper towel rack, a clothing hamper/basket, a bathroom rug, & trash can.) Funny, but he made room for them. The fact that they were shopping with my personal belongings told me a lot about their character. Phillip solely was responsible for moving my clothes & basic jewlery. A task he volunteered for. I am just discovering more items missing (now, in 2020), & it enrages me because I have contacted the cleaners of my previous home, & current owners of the home I moved from to know with certainty they weren't left behind. They did leave several items behind, which I did not know until I traveled back to the house after not seeing them at all. James said he'd "spoken to them about that," however, nothing came of it. I would like my items returned; no questions asked; or monies repaid for not rendering the service paid/asked for. Theft is not right. Nor is it expected when one is in a clear position of need. Theft from a person who has (physical challenges & financial ones) I believe is indicative of a lack of morals, & pride, & reveal cruelty, shrewdness, & criminality. My kindness was taken advantage of. The team was also treated to two meals by me; both of which they asked for. They also came up with a bizarre excuse for having to drop a worker off at school before coming directly to my home. I trusted James; so I felt automatically, they too were trustworthy. I am sad that I was wrong. Terrible company practices. Troubling moving crew. Buyer beware. Take a look at their reviews on Angie's List. DO. NOT. USE. Save yourself the heartache & bad business practices that are rampant within James Moving Service. THEY CHANGE THEIR ADDRESS WHENEVER THEY RECEIVE A REVIEW NOT TO THEIR LIKING.
