It's mostly OK but sometimes they run out of key ingredients. They keep one of their two doors closed, I guess to keep the homeless from camping out, and I have to take the long way around to get in. I have had hassles with their gift cards not working -- they make it right but it's a pain and time sink. Sometimes I'll go in during off times, like Sunday afternoon when there are just two employees and hear them complaining about schedules or what not -- then I turn around and leave. Just got off a long, tiring train ride and wanted something refreshing. I ordered my usual with a personal cup branded for a different drink company, which I have done many times before. The cashier said it was find and based the cup down to her coworker. 5 minutes later the woman calls out a smoothie that is not my order (PB with extra protein), so I do not look up. Another 5 minutes pass and a manager asks who had the personal Cup. I walk over and the manager makes a woman awkwardly apologize to me for giving my personal cup away. I asked what they were going to do about it and they said they would give me one of their cups. So somehow someone took my personal cup (without the lid or straw which I was holding, even though it was a cup from another brand) and neither the person taking the cup nor the employee noticed, and their solution was to give me one of their cups for free despite my original cup being a different style/brand which I preferred more as it was easier to clean. They did not offer any $ off of my next drink or a refund, or to give me money to cover the cost of the cup. While I appreciate the replacement it is not the same and the way the manager handled the situation was fine but not outstanding. The employee was not competent. I frequent amtrak and used to go to this jamba often, but with so many other options of places to eat or grab a drink in Union Station, I would suggest trying something else. read more

I remember back in 2009, I went to a Jamba Juice in LA during my first trip out there. I fell in love with it. So, I was EXCITED to find that there was a Jamba Juice in DC! The resulting experience after visiting the Union Station location... MEH. It could be the flavor that I ordered, because I was nowhere near as impressed as I was the first time I had it. It could be that I was just in the moment, in LA and just loving it. But I honestly don't remember a smoothie tasting as bad as it did. I had one of the Orange flavored ones. I'll update my review after I remember the name of it. All I know is at the end of the day, I inadvertently dropped my $5 (or $6) smoothie, not even half way through and all the while I was planning on throwing it away! Jamba Juice is a nice little shop; if Einstein Bagels and McDonald's give Starbucks competition for the coffee business, JJ gives Starbucks competition on smoothies and frappucino-type drinks. The employees are friendly--at 6:30am, this is no small feat. The smoothies are nutritious and unlike Starbucks, you never have to wait in line. The drawbacks to getting a JJ smoothie: you can taste the DC water. Maybe Starbucks (right up the hallway) uses a filter or something--but the JJ smoothies always leave a metallic aftertaste in your mouth; it is off-putting to have your Chocolate Moo'd taste like chocolate-covered copper in your mouth. Also: I am not sure if their registers have problems, but on occasion (about 5-6 times a month), they will charge me twice for the same purchase (which is why I now go to Au Bon Pain, Pret, or Starbucks in the morning). I finally found a place I can Jamba in DC! I know there are finally a few more in the city, but this is the first one I have stumbled across in my daily activities. I was recently waiting for an Amtrak train here at Union Station and I couldn't resist the call of the Jamba when I saw the sign of the conveniently located shop right across from several Amtrak Gates. I used to order the Strawberry Whirl. I think they call it something else now. I like that you can order a lower sugar version now. I remembered to do this the last time I ordered one at the Jamba in CLT and it was very good. I usually always get the immunity boost to support a healthy voyage. I'm almost looking forward to the next time I am forced to fly out of BWI so I can come here and have a Jamba before my train! read more

Fast service and delicious smoothies and juices. The only down side of this place is some of employees were kinda rude to me. Besides that, the drinks came out on a very short amount of time, no mess-up order. My favorites are the acai antioxidant smoothies, and apple n green. They are very tasty and refreshing. I really like additional boosts you could add in if you'd like. There is also a reward system where you could essentially get a free boost, or a discounted price smoothies. Smoothie was fine, nothing special. But it is pretty irresponsible for a place where nearly everything they sell comes in recyclable plastic to not have a recycling bin. Really baffling. Love my Jamba experience!!! I visit this Jamba every morning after getting off the MARC train...been visiting every morning for 3 months. The staff even greets me by name!!! I've had the all fruit smoothies and the fruit and veggie smoothies. Personal fave is the Apples & Greens. Service is great...never had a problem. The only time I've noticed a change in service is when they're training new employees. Smoothies are always delish and well blended. During the winter months I love their oatmeal...with apple cinnamon topping. So yummy!!! read more

I come here every time I travel through Union Station (2-4x/month). It's a great grab-and-go healthy snack. In the afternoon, the service is great. The staff will even talk with you a bit while you're ordering. Very friendly. In the morning, you can forget about friendly. I understand the morning rush requires fast turnaround but that doesn't mean the experience can't be pleasant AND fast. A simple "Good Morning" and a smile would do but the need for speed seems to remove all niceties. Regardless, the smoothies are good. Not always blended well (again, morning rush) but still gets 4 stars. I'll definitely continue to make my smoothie stops when I'm at Union. read more

Anyway, I go here a lot mainly because I am trying to catch the Amtrak or metro train depending on the day of the week. Now i am giving this a four because I have had only one problem here and it was when I ordered over the phone near closing time and they were so busy trying to close that they didn't make my drink. Any other time I order on the app which is 9 times out do 10 except yesterday, I go in pick it up and keep going. Had a great experience today at the union station location. Ordered a apple cinnamon oatmeal to take back to the office. The team were cheering and singing cool songs when customers ordered certain smoothies. Really brightened my day. I never expect the train stations stores to so cheerful because of the amount of people they serve day in and day out. By the time I got to the office the oatmeal was still piping hot. The staff is really nice and helpful here - any so-called wait has never been a bother to me...each person makes a smoothie to order from beginning to end, not in a production line, so it seems their focus is on care and quality, not speed or volume sales. I love the carrot-orange-mango juice for a long-lasting morning zing -- a great start to the workday. My friends rave about the oatmeal and other grain products, but really - who comes to a juice place for that when Au Bon Pain and Pret Manger are nearby? Quality does come at a premium, though, so it's more of an occasional treat than habit for me. Still, if all Jamba Juice locations are like this, then call me a fan. read more

Love Jamba Juice? Don't come here: this place will break your heart. Been a loyal Jamba customer for decades first on the West Coast, then in NYC. Since I now live in DC and use Union Station constantly, I was delighted that it had opened here. What a disappointment. Everything everyone here has said is true: service is unreasonably slow, orders are wrong (of course, including the person before me). It doesn't help that the menu on the wall is probably confusing to some Jamba newcomers. I'd put up with slowness, confusion, etc if the end result was worth it. Mine was simply horrible. I was handed an unpleasant 16 oz container of chipped ice and, mainly, unblended blocks of frozen, thawing and soggy fruit. Not a "smoothie" by any stretch of the imagination. A "lumpie" is more appropriate. It clearly didn't sit on the blender long enough. And even worse, when it came out, it was only about 3/4 full. It's curious why the woman who was the finisher (the one who puts on the lid, sticks in the straw and calls your name) wasn't doing quality control because anyone who tried to jam a straw into what I got handed would've known it was a cold mess. If I didn't have to run to the train gate, I would've returned it. I could only drink a fraction before it became intolerable. So wound up on a 3-hour train ride starving. While I hope this Jamba outlet gets its act together, I won't be heading back. read more

Such a Jamba fan! But to be located in a high trafficked area as Union station, you better have your routine for orders and execution down, especially for the morning rush! I was catching an 8:10am Amtrak train and it was about 7:25am when I visited the store. I was in no rush at all. My husband went to McDonald's and I went to Jamba. There were about 6 customers queuing for their drinks/breakfast items when I ordered a small "Caribbean Passion." I went to go join in the waiting line. Due to the noise level of the general station announcements and the blender it was hard to hear if your drink was ready. This man who had been waiting complained that he had a train to catch in 10minutes and needed "any" drink even if it wasn't his. Well, that drink ended up being mine. Not sure where his order went in the line up as he was there before me. So, my drink had to be remade which threw off their drink orders. So, I had to wait another few minutes. My husband found me still at Jamba and was like what's taking so long? Overall, I would say I waited between 12-15minutes for one small drink. Hope that man enjoyed my drink! read more

If you have limited time and see a line with +3 people, don't bother. You'll either miss your train or lose your money because you'll have to abandon your order. Service is hit or miss. Also, I was given unripe bananas with my overpriced energy bowl. It was awful and a complete waste. You would think employees working at a fruit smoothie place would know the difference between a ripe and unripe banana. Nope, not this place. The energy bowl is usually good, but if you can't finish it in one sitting, ask for the yogurt blend in a separate cup so it doesn't make the granola part mushy. read more
