I was not so impressed with Jake's. I don't know if it's just this location but I was always fond of the one in Richboro. I came for breakfast, got the hungry person and was honestly kind of grossed out by my food. The pancakes were stale and nowhere near warm. The "homefries" looked like cut up boiled potatoes, I didn't eat any of those. The eggs were probably the most normal looking things on my plate. I really think they need to step it up for being one of many few breakfast places in the area, so much potential! read more

This was my first time eating here, and it was amazing, the staff is so nice, we didn't wait king for our food, and it was delicious, only thing i didn't like is there policy that they can not seat you till very one apart of your party is there, me my mother and brother went in well waiting for our friends Nichole and ben who were no more then 5 minutes away but they wouldn't seat us till they arrived. But other then that the place was great. great food, great staff what more could you ask for. definite recommend. read more

Terrible service. Slow kitchen. Waited 30 minutes + for oatmeal. Not servers fault just extremely under staffed in kitchen. People all around us are getting frustrated read more

Good place for lunch with grandparents. Very good service. Drew was quick and friendly. They serve breakfast all day, I think. I had the urban omelette and it was very good. The hamburgers are great too. Get the french fries as your side. The place is impeccably clean, well lit, and spacious. Highly recommended. read more

We decided to give this place a try on Sunday after church. We ordered breakfast I got the Hungry Man and added blueberries to my pancakes. The hash browns were cold, you could tell they just make a huge batch of them and they definitely are not seven fresh. My side of turkey sausage tasted like dog food. Our server was constantly MIA we could not find her. When our food was served we had to make multiple trips to the breakfast bar to get syrup for pancakes, um like shouldn't they be served together being that they go hand in hand. We also had to get hot sauce and napkins from there. We should have tipped ourselves. read more

Get the Urban Omelet with a side of bacon and rye bread! Great Food & Friendly Service! Probably the only place in a 30 mile radius where we had to wait to be seated because everyone who lives here goes here. Lots of parking in back and service was smooth and quick. We opted to go here with our local friends instead of Cracker Barrel and was happy we did. Sometimes it is better to eat among the locals than in a chain with lots of tourists! Prices were also very reasonable for the amount of food served. read more

I love breakfast places and Jake's is the best diner for breakfast. With items like the Hungry Person on the menu, i'm always filled up when i leave. This place is nice small dates or big groups. read more

The go to place for breakfast in Newtown. Only place around that offers a flavored coffee every morning. Love their egg's Benedict.

Best breakfast hands down! Fresh and delicious. My husband and I have been going to breakfast at Jakes fir over a year and the food is consistently fresh and delicious. read more

Exactly as the 3 stars says, Jake's is ok. The place is decorated like the dining hall at your grandparents old age retirement home with just the most bland looking walls and furniture I think I have ever seen other than said retirement home. Food is pretty much the same way, just bland. I got a basic egg and home fry breakfast and the potatoes had zero flavor to them. Pluses include reasonable prices, friendly staff, quick service, and bottomless coffee. That's about all I got to say on this place. read more

I had spent the evening with my Vietnam brother Ted and we got to Jake's in time for breakfast. It was clean, the wait staff was courteous and efficient and mostly friendly and the food turned out to be fairly good. I had the eggs Benedict and Ted ate Jake's version of an egg and Mcmuffin. Coffee flowed freely and pricing was reasonable. read more

10am Friday a week before Christmas. Packed and a 5 minute wait. Staff was rushing but nice and helpful. Good size menu and fair prices for Newtown. Basic decor - felt homey and comfortable enough. Mostly older crowd, partly given the time, though a few small groups of HS students were spotted. Food arrived fast and portions were spot on; not over the top like some breakfast joints throw at you. Homefries were awesome. OK coffee (Lucas; expected better taste). Very good omelette. Wife enjoyed the large waffle well enough. read more

I come here every Sunday and the service is always great. Portions are pretty big, especially for the price! Inside the place could use a little updating, but that's really the only complaint I have. read more

My friends and I stopped by the other day after visiting a nearby park. I ordered the farmer's breakfast, the cornbread muffin was browned and tasty!! Everyone enjoyed their meals and cleaned their plates! Three big meals only cost us around $23!!! I strongly recommend Jake's Eatery to anyone in the area! read more

Took my granddaughters to Jakes for a lunch outing. My tuna salad sandwich was lovely fresh and flavorful My younger gd was introduced to banana pancakes , which she enjoyed very much. The Caesar salad was good and we had a good time. read more

There is a line but it moves fairly quickly. The choices of food for brunch is no frill just reliable brunch food. The prices are reasonable and I have no problem with simplicity of the place and food choices. read more

It's astonishing that a busy and popular breakfast place like Jake's does not offer a better selection of adult breakfast cereals, including higher-fiber favorites like shredded wheat and Raisin Bran. Nor does Jake's offer WiFi so that its many single patrons can entertain themselves while they're eating their breakfasts. That said, Jake's does make a damn fine pancake and a decent cup of decaf, but really, how hard is that to do? I wouldn't say that Jake's is "A-OK" as the Yelp rating system defines three stars. I would say it's just "B-OK" and nothing more. read more

I honestly try to look at the overall experience, especially when leaving a less than favorable comment. During my last and I mean last, visit to Jakes Eatery in Newtown, I actually hesitated when the bill came... My true thoughts were, do I really have to pay for this experience! The service was terrible, the waitress took our order , brought our drinks then disappeared until the food was ready. The banana French toast was so small and appeared to be one piece of bread cut down the middle, ridiculous. Refills on drinks we're non existent, home fries were mushy. All five members of my party left with stomach aches and longing for a restroom. I've been to Jakes before, but never again. I hope Newtown wises up and opens a real diner or restaurant to serve a quality breakfast. Avoid Jake's Eatery in Newtown PA Food quality and service sub par for a 60.00 breakfast. read more

I think that some critics had a really bad experience. I am rating Jake's on a consistently pleasant breakfast experience. It is not 4 star gourmet. It is not the best breakfast place in the world. However, it is the best and most reasonable diner style breakfast joint we've found in the Newtown area. Here's what I like: Nice menu with a variety of sweets (pancakes, waffles, muffins) Plenty of egg dishes (the usual diner style combos, however no hard boiled if you can believe it) Combos that allow you to have literally 1 egg, 1 piece of meat, 1 pancake or waffle Very pleasant and attentive staff. For those of us who truly want a single serving and not a "diner style" plate of food that could actually feed 3+ people if you kept to actual portion sizes, this is a good choice. If you want to mix things up and you usually go to the Eagle Diner, try this place. read more

Never disappointed here! Clean, fast service and friendly atmosphere. We usually do brunch here and the portions are just right. Flavorful food! The selection for breakfast is a little on the small side, but they are willing to customize and it's good for your basics. Hubby had the Hungry Person's breakfast and I had a build-your-own omelet. I want to try dinner here sometime bc the menu and prices look intriguing! read more

Jake's Eatery - Vegetable eggs Benedict! - American Near Me - Newtown, Pennsylvania

I came around noon with a friend on Sunday and we did not have to wait for a long time despite how many other people were waiting. I came for brunch food which they serve. I obviously ordered one dish but overall I feel like Jake's Eatery is definitely an average place for their brunch. It wasn't bad or great, just the typical food you can make at home. I have no complaints considering that their prices seem to be reasonable. If you want a place to go for average food, why not try out this place? It definitely has a homie feeling. read more

Jake's has a decent, solid breakfast menu. It's not over the top - just diner staples that come in normal sized portions at reasonable prices. I'm used to (and miss) New Jersey diners and ridiculously large portions, but Jake's has the same vibe; it's just scaled-down. The staff is always pleasant and the service is quick. The coffee is just normal coffee at a normal price; I'm over the whole $9 cold-pressed whatever coffee thing at other brunch places. read more

I was driving by, looking for restaurants and saw this one. They have a jerk chicken quesadilla with cranberries, bacon, cheese of course, scallions. And the chicken was incredible. It was juicy and perfectly blackened, so all of these flavors came together to result in an unexpectedly great quesadilla.. for $8.00!! Really took me by surprise. Also Rebecca the waitress was kind and very competent. I'll be back again. read more

Great place! Great home cooked style food. Wether for breakfast lunch or dinner they have you covered . nice portions for not too much $ which is rare in Newtown Pa. You can actually take your family out for a meal without remortgaging your home. Today I had three fried eggs three Turkey sausage links homefries and toast all for (including tip) like 9 bucks...totally delicious and filling. The serve prime rib a few nights a week too. I think they allow BYOB at the Newtown location unlike Jake's in Richboro which has a full bar read more

Food is consistently excellent. This has become our default restaurant now that we are empty nesters. Great dinners including pasta and seafood. We went for breakfast on Saturday morning with some hesitation based on some recent reviews. We were seated promptly, served coffee while we waited for our order to be taken. For the area - this is the best you're going to get for breakfast/brunch. At least that is what we were looking for when we stumbled upon Jake's. I appreciated the variety of menu items and the fast and friendly service. The food was really nothing special. I've worked at several brunch restaurants and love to go out for a good breakfast - and was excited at the idea of finding something new. The food was disappointing, though. Everything came out SO fast and the restaurant was packed - leading me to believe they have a lot of things pre-made (including my boyfriend's cold scrapple). I had the porkroll benny - hollandaise was flavorless and boring (hollandaise is supposed to be the best part!). The highlight of the meal was probable the banana bread french toast - it was delicious but still I wasn't blown away. Won't be going back. read more

My Mother in law and I tried Jake's for the first time today for breakfast. I was very impressed. The food was fresh, tasted very good, arrived quickly, and was piping hot. The waiter was attentive and very polite. We both had omelettes, with homefries, rye toast and coffee. We both enjoyed the food very much, and felt the price was fair. We will be coming back for more breakfast since this is the best breakfast I had in Bucks County, but I also want to try Jake's out for lunch and dinner. I would give them a high recommendation on the breakfast. read more

I had not been here for more than a year because the last time I went, there were lipstick stains on my mug, the hot cereal was cold and the fruit was inedible. If I could give a zero for the hostess and for overall service, I would. After waiting for 25 minutes to get seated, we were told we couldn't get a table because the fourth person hadn't arrived. We knew she was in the car but then had to pretend that she had changed her mind. We were shown to a table of four but then they grabbed away the fourth place setting (paper napkin and fork). Before they seated us, the hostess told us that we should be prepared to order immediately, which we were. Unfortunately the server did not appear for about 10-15 minutes. My friend was give the wrong order, and the plates were cleared without even asking, when there was food left on them. The straw that broke the camels back was, we were asked to leave because supposedly there were people waiting for our table, even though another table of four was available. There are definitely two better breakfast places within a couple of miles, Pat's and Moishe's and they will be getting all of my future business. read more

Great place for breakfast and lunch, but not dinner. The sandwiches, pancakes, eggs and soup from this place is great!!They have the best eggs Benedict around. My parents and I stop into Jake's quite often and their food is consistently good. We have only been there to order from their breakfast menu, so I can't speak for their lunch or dinner options, but they do serve up some solid breakfast food at a very reasonable price point. They were busy every time we went, but the staff was always friendly and attentive. Portions are quite large, and it seems very clean as well. Most diners and restaurants I've been to for breakfast often burn the toast or potatoes every once in a while, but that has never happened at Jake's so far. Everything was cooked perfectly every time we've been there :) Nice little spot for the neighborhood regulars. Today (Wednesday) I stopped in for a late breakfast with my mom, and even on a weekday it was very busy. Always a good sign when it's loved by so many people! read more

Went to Jake's for an early dinner and ordered a roast beef wrap. The wrap had one thin slice of meat, but lots of lettuce, onions and tomato chunks. I informed the waitress, who said she would "tell them in the kitchen". Nothing after that. Being with friends, I didn't make a fuss, but I won't be returning. Check your wrap for that elusive meat. read more

Food is good, there's always a fun item on the specials board I like to try, and the wait goes fast even when it's packed (which it always is on weekends for breakfast!) I wish the staff was a bit more attentive because they always seem rushed and frazzled. But more than anything I wish this place wasn't always so loud!! It's a real turn off when you can't hear the person sitting across the table from you. read more

Breakfast here is real beat! Were local and every 2-3 years or so we give it another shot and it honestly gets worse. *Eggbeaters for scrambled eggs *Fake butter for toast *$1.75 per cup of coffee *Boiled homefries *Gross coated french fries (just cut a potato and deep fry it) *Bacon is paper thin, charred, and literally crumbles when you bite it. Dont screw with bacon, thats in the bill of rights. To charge what they charge for homeless shelter type food is insane. However i will say the place is clean, large, and i have had lunch here and it was decent. But for god sakes stop with all the cheap ingredients, mcdonalds does it better. read more
