I had the the pom fashioned which was supposed to have muddled pomegranate seeds, so I was expecting a subtle fruity note, but it was just a standard old fashioned with pomegranate seeds. My friend got the dill martini - the dill was quite overpowering. For the nachos, while this was pretty good, it was just a pile of chips and toppings put on top. They didn't layer the toppings so you get a lot plain chips. The cheese wasn't a queso sauce, so if it hardens, you can't really dip other chips in it. Overall an ok place, but not eager to return. read more

Still an Irish Sports Bar with decent kitchen and service, The Green Parrot has nicely settled in as the anchor tenant at Goodnoe Corner, Newtown, PA. The bar room is jumping weekends, with curated beer list and good well drinks. The kitchen has had its ups and downs, but we have had our last few Christmas celebrations here and been well satisfied with our food. Last Tuesday night ten of us occupied the now enclosed porch area and enjoyed ourselves for a couple of hours. My Shepherd's Pie (w braised lamb) was very tasty, and looking around the table everyone appears to be happily consuming whatever they ordered. There were a few positive comments from the group to the effect that "...Parrot grub was on the way up, again." I agreed as we acknowledged that we would try it again for our next event. Well...I am truly and pleasantly surprised. Three years ago I wrote this place off and vowed never to go back because I thought it was terrible. When I heard we were going here I was not excited at all. "However," today 11 of us girls decided to have lunch at the Green Parrot. So glad we gave it another chance because it was absolutely delicious. All 11 of us enjoyed it and believe me, some of the girls are tough critics so that says a lot! Everyone's food was fresh and delicious. Fries cooked perfectly...crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. My Rachel Ruben had a generous portion of turkey and was very good. The pick two special of soup, salad or half sandwich was also a generous portion. Several ordered that. Two beef sliders were on the pick 2 special...amazing how large those sliders were. I may have to get that next time. They looked so good. Our server was right on and very efficient. She did not miss a beat. I want to say her name was Bella. We had a nice table next to the fireplace...it was all very comfortable. Overall...I look forward to a return visit...I am very happy to say that. read more

Me and my family usually go to the Green Parrot on Friday night. This week we went on a Saturday night. When we first arrived there was nobody waiting to be seated. The lady behind the counter said do you have a reservation? I have never made a reservation for here before so I said no and she turned to someone else and the waitress going to be fine with doing a double table? Then we were seated and our waitress came . She acted like she wished we weren't there. She was pretty much rude to us from the moment she started talking to us. My husband had asked for ketchup and mayonnaise on his cheesesteak and she said well you can have mayonnaise but ketchup is on the table very rudely. We were given no napkins or silverware. The lady came out with the food from the kitchen and we asked her for napkins and silverware. she came out with silverware Wrapped in one napkin. I had to use the wipes from my purse. Our waitress came over right after the food came out and asked us if it was OK. We told her it was and then we didn't see her again until it was time to leave. She never asked us if we needed new drinks and all of our drinks we're empty. From the moment we arrived to the restaurant we got the vibe that they wished we didn't come there so our night of going out for a fun dinner, turned out not to be so fun, especially with the attitude of our waitress. Also, my granddaughter had ordered a Shirley Temple, which usually comes with cherries there wasn't any in her drink.We never seen her to tell her. It was just a very bad experience feeling like we were bothering the workers there especially the lady at the front and the waitress. Also, there was many open tables. New AVOID THIS RESTAURANT!! The service at this restaurant is absolutely atrocious! My wife was having dinner with several friends on Thursday 12/12/24 for Christmas when, a server dropped multiple dirty dishes on her, covering her with partially eaten food from strangers completely ruining her clothes and the evening. She and her friends were unable to finish their meals. The restaurant's response was to comp a $16.00 salad. Which is an absolute insult and a joke! I called the owner, manager & emailed the owner and never heard back after given assurance they would pay for the ruined/damaged clothes. We enjoyed a spicy Bloody Mary, draft beer and buffalo shrimp (grilled and tossed in sauce, not breaded). Our server was polite and knowledgeable. Decent selection of craft beer. Standard pub fare. Biggest negative is the limited vegetarian options. No veggie burger, offered a turkey burger instead. And no standard veggie pizza, but there is a meat lovers pizza. Adding these 2 items would go a long way IMO. Like 50% of wine bottles under $100 on Sundays. They also have a taco Tuesday and Thursday burger night (just don't expect to go and get a veggie burger.) read more

It's a bar. It's what you'd expect a bar in Newtown, PA to be. No better, no worse. There's a good number of older folks here, as in middle aged, fully aged, and then a few tipsy frat bros outside. There are many TVs in this place. There's also an additional room in the back that can be closed off for a private party. The food was decent relative to standard bar food ... pizza, buffalo wings, nachos. All pretty standard and went decently well with the beer, of which there is a decent selection on tap. It's all standard, and it's all decent. The staff is exceptionally kind and courteous though. I'm not sure when or under what circumstance I'd return. But it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. read more

The service was decent- it took a while for them to come to us to take our orders but other than that, it was fine. My friend got vodka rigatoni with side of fries while I got one of the two specials that they offered that day (11/22/2019). The special was pork chops. However, what I got in reality compared to the description was pretty poor. The special dish looked and tasted very cheaply put together and honestly, did not seem worth it. Visited this establishment on 6/17/2023. Although the service was fine, the food was absolutely dreadful. The burger was ordered as medium and was delivered as well done with the bacon not thoroughly cooked. The fish and chips looked and tasted like something you would get from the frozen food isle of the grocery store and was not good at all. The bacon/cheese/avocado quesadilla had sour cream poured all over it and the very small portion of avocado was not ripe so was inedible. Extremely disappointing dining experience.
